Not exactly. The leather also keeps you warmer. If it was for the sole purpose of protecting from the sun, it would be made from a different, both lighter and more durable material.
For those wondering those are the Vermont Galcier models from Julbo. I picked up a pair for EDC since I’m very photosensitive. Amazing pair. Very expensive at around 160$ usd as I last checked on Amazon.
I don't plan on climbing MT Everest anytime soon, but those Julbo sunglass frames will be the ideal eye wear for one who plans on having cataract surgery one day in the future.
I work at a desk 25% of the time and in the desert around Phoenix 75% of the time. I sweat. These do not budge. I have a custome lens that blocks blue light and protects from the sun's UV.
@@thespectaclefactory Yeah but thats an advantage. If its big i can properly grab it with gloves. And it covers more of my face and has a tighter seal against wind from all directions. I could see myself buying them for less extreme winter hiking though But there is no metal part of it touching your face right?
I would say these are made by Julbo. The lenses look larger than the Julbo Vermonts. I have a pair of Vermonts and they really good but the arms and ear wraps on mine fell apart. The Colorado Julbos are my favorite but they’re no longer made.
I need these exact sunglasses but in a Lens type: Cat. 3, Polarized, Anti-fog, PC. I went on your website and store online and I don’t see these glasses. Can you please help me?
@@thespectaclefactory great they look super cool very interested probably will get a pair. I also have a review channel here on RUclips if you are also interested. Handle is @ryanrosss
They are to block light. The thing is, wearing super dark lenses will dilate your pupils so any light getting in can be painful in bright conditions. Wind protection is coincidental (but useful) If you want the best I would look at Julbo or Vuarnet for real glass category 4 lenses Cheers
The leather is made to protect your eyes from the sun not only against the wind.

Great idea
Milují týhle brýle a děkuji 💋 jsou skvělé 👍👏
iSKi Sunglasses had those leather side shields and wrap-around the ear stems. I had some back in the early 80s.
Interesting!

Which brand and style name?
Can you buy a cord for this glasses to be able to hang on the neck?
How would these be for skiing? Do they fog up? Are they impact resistant??
Very good for Skiing - the lenses are hydrophobic which helps to reduce fogging
@@thespectaclefactory thanks!!
these are in no way suitable for skiing...@@Ces1um
Indeed the best
💯
Whats the advantage over ski googles?
Not sure if i could thighten that tiny screw with my gloves on in low temp conditions.
They aren't so tiny. Ski goggles are a lot bulkier to wear

These could be the Julbo Chams

Where can I buy them from india
Mine have been loose at the hinge. Do you guys do repairs?
We do, where possible.
Can these be used while driving?
no, they dont let anywhere near enough light in to be safe on roads.
Which brand are these sunglasses?
Julbo.
@@thespectaclefactory are these the vermont classic?
What about fogging up? Are they anti fog?
They have some anti-fog as standard, but you could but custom lenses in with additional hydrophobic coatings.
side shields for wind you say ? tought those ware mainly for stopping light that got reflected of the snow.
I guess they help with that too, but the wind protection is more important

Me duraron un año salieron como el pico
Lmao
These are not good if you are asian. Don't fit me at all. Should put that in the video description.
Well there is a lot of variety amongst those of Asian descent, so that's not strictly true
