Jessie, not related... but I saw an older vlog where you speak about hearing Gigi get mouthy and talk back, and you spoke to her about it and you both ended up apologizing. I just wanted you to know how it has inspired me to practice the art of apologizing to my kid to practice your "show by example" and acknowledge I am not a perfect parent but we can learn from each other. I wish I received this gift from my parents, but I know that I can do so for my child. So thank you. Ok onto primers!
Yes, same. Except it's my grandkids. Jess is a great example of an influencer! I'm 49 & I learn from her too. But, we have to have open minds to the right influences.... know what I mean? 😊
For special occasion products, I’ve transitioned to travel sizes. I find that gives me the convenience of having it on hand when needed, while reducing clutter.
I got tired of wasting my money on cotton pads so I bought some reusable ones and a little mesh zip up bag. When I’ve used one I put it in the bag and once a week I toss it in the washing machine. Saves them from going to landfills, and I feel like they get softer with each wash. 🌺🌺🌺
I used to only use sunscreen under makeup but I noticed my makeup just didn't last throughout the day. Now I tap on elf's hydrogrip primer over top of my sunscreen (no rubbing) and that has helped tremendously. I agree that sunscreen can definitely replace moisturizing/glowy primers but if I'm looking for longevity, tapping in a sticky primer has been great for that!
agree with you. sometimes for low-effort makeup days, i’ll just use my mattifying sunscreen to prime (oily skin) but i usually do swear by a mattifying primer. but if you have “normal” skin and you find you have good wear with your makeup as is and aren’t really running into issues, you don’t NEED primer. but it can impart significant benefits for some people.
I agree. I use Josie Maran Sunscreen as last step to my moisturizers. Let dry and apply Elf hydro grip primer. My makeup does last longer. Always apply setting spray at end.
Since switching to putting my toner in a refillable spray bottle I have not used cotton rounds. I tried just putting it in my hands but I felt it went everywhere except my face, now I just spritz and pat in, game changer!
PLEASE DO A MAKEUP TUTORIAL ON THIS LOOK!!!! 😍 girl, you always look beautiful, but this is the BEST your skin/makeup has ever looked, and the lipstick color…omg 😘 😘
You’re speaking from a place of common sense and I’m right there with you. RUclips and social media make us feel like we need all these superfluous makeup or beauty items and it’s almost wasteful. I’ve gotten so minimalistic simply because the clutter triggers my OCD something fierce.
Oh my gosh, it does the same thing to me. This is going to sound dumb, but I never thought about that before I read your comment. I just always feel like everything is out of control. I never put two and two together. 🤦♀️Something so simple.
For people in Texas, HEB makes an SPF 30 Primer with a blurring effect similar to the SuperGoop Unseen Sunscreen. The SPF factor 30 is less than SuperGoop, but I might like the diffusing nourishing effect more. It includes orange peel, shea butter, aloe, and vitamin E, and it feels nourishing on the skin. It's $14-$15 for 3 oz. (For those outside Texas, HEB is like our Meijer!)
Your video about our fantasy selves was so eye opening and helpful for me years ago. Like yes. I was definitely guilty of saving clothes, shoes makeup etc for my fantasy self 😂 when I got real about what I actually use I was able to let go of a lot of clutter.
I wish I knew what video that was, I would love to watch it. I totally feel like I live that way and I have so much clutter around just waiting to use or wear it for "my fantasy self". I feel like I can relate to the fantasy self so much, and just hearing it makes me wanna go thru all my stuff right now!
I am still interested in high medium/high coverage foundation, but I use the TINIEST amount, júst on my cheeks. I use a skintint/light coverage on my entire face and then *boop boop* some high coverage on my cheeks so my blush and sometimes highlight has a calmer background. But again, the tiiiiiiiiniest amount, just to add a little layer over the ultra light coverage.
I’m not using anymore than a 3-4 skincare product routine. The 5+ product line-up is out the door for me. The less, the better (as long as those fewer products provide good care)
Jessica have you ever had a seasonal color analysis done? Fun fact - most of the world is cool toned, but most of the makeup out there is warm toned! Pretty interesting, maybe a future video idea? Mia maples just had one done, so did Zooey Deschanel :)
I always say how warm-toned ALLLLLLL the makeup is!! Thank you for the validation 😂 As a fair-skinned cool toned lady, it’s been difficult finding base products. I find so many foundations to be very yellow or warm. In the past year or so, I started buying more korean beauty products. Their shades suit me much better than the mainstream beauty brands here in the US.
I need all the cool tones!! While I haven't tried them personally yet, I saw the brand Em Cosmetics online. She has a cool-toned eyeshadow palette that looks beautiful! And she has a bronzer stick - I think it was the 2nd color option, that also looks like it would work beautifully on cool toned skin!
Yesssssss agreed!!! To all of these comments. I was saying to the screen “because you are more cool than warm” when she said Peach lipstick doesn’t look good. And the warm bronzer. She looks great in pinks and light purple that’s the reason!! A lot of us relate!😂 👍🏼 When I finally realized at 45 that I look better in certain colors and makeup colors it really changed everything! For the better! It’s sooo easy now to buy makeup and clothing! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yes, I figured out about 5 yrs ago that I'm cool tone 😂 I had so much old makeup that was gross or not being used so I tossed everything and started over , that's when I figured out that light blueish pinks/purples/ mauves look awesome on my fair skin plus I found out I'm a winter which explains why I can wear jewel tones , cool browns, gray and black just fine but warm tone anything just looks awful 😅 and I've always just worn what ever my mom or sisters have passed on to me and come to find out I'm the fair cool tone in the family everyone else in light/medium and warm/neutral 😂 finding this out has really changed everything from makeup to clothes for the better
I love cinnamon tea with honey and milk. Especially late at night. It relaxes me. And in Mexico we drink it sometimes in the mornings with some sweet mexican bread.
I'm combination oily and still use primers frequently. When I don't use them under foundation, my makeup slides off by the end of the day. If I’m wearing sunscreen, I’ll put sunscreen on first, then a water-based oil-free primer like Elf Power Grip.
@@alexandrahutchison263if I put on too many layers, my makeup tends to pill. The only sunscreen I've found that doesn't make my foundation pill is Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen
🌻🌻🌻In Missouri…our morning windchill was 17 today🤪🤪 Spring here is like a bad case of whiplash! I so agree on the primers. I’m 72 and between skincare & sunscreen, that’s more than enough layers. Love the logic of our fantasy selves. Great way to look at what we hang on to. Finding that decluttering in all areas (including makeup) is quite freeing and satisfying. Have a great rest of your week and thanks for all you do for this community.❤💄
I recently purchased the old fashioned shaving cream for makeup stains around my white shirts on my neckline. I was searching various hacks to get out stains and someone recommended shaving cream. I tried it and it actually worked rather well. 🌻, I actually prefer wild flowers.
Ngl ive been in a RUclips funk for some reason, I’m so behind on my subscribed feed cuz I only want to watch a few certain creators AND JESSICA BRAUN IS ONE OF THEM. I just feel so cozy 😊 🌸🌺🌷
I love hearing about what people are not buying anymore. I have noticed there is a few things I no longer get excited about when it comes to makeup/beauty. I am a girl who loves colorful eyeshadow, but something in me has changed in the last 2 months. I am now slowly dipping into neutrals, but still using a pop of color because it just doesn't look correct to me without some color. I also use to go crazy with the amount of eyeshadow (like 5 colors or more) and today I did just 2! I really love to see the changes, and now I'm noticing that I don't even care to follow the trends (I get with your job you have to). Thanks for this conversation, it really is making me think about the makeup I still have (from when I felt I needed so much) and about how much change I have made. Hope you and your family is having a wonderful day!
The Origins Retexturizing mask with Rose Clay is amazing and I rarely hear anyone talk about it. It leaves my skin smooth and soft. I have repurchased it many times. I like it better than all the others I have tried. I have mature combination skin and I need a primer to fill pores and lines. I don’t buy pink lipstick or blush. I don’t care if it’s trendy…I don’t like it.
Jess, I have been with you since right after you started. Your complexion looks so radiant and healthy and glowing now compared to back then. I know influencers do this job and is informative and have great tips and reviews. Very appreciative. But me, as I am only a collector, have MORE than enough makeup and skincare that I will never get thru and I purge and give away OFTEN. My point...I will not be purchasing anything unless it moves the earth for me otherwise, I ain't buying this year(and I am top tier at Ulta and Sephora and have been for years). Saving money and space but still will keep up with my most favorite influencers ❤
The “fantasy self” thing is so true and I see that a TON here on RUclips! My big pet peeve is “declutters” that aren’t declutters and people make up every excuse in the book to keep 10,000 eye shadow palettes! Like Jennifer, are you telling me that you’re going to use ALL those palettes??? Orrrr are they just going to be sitting in a drawer and collecting dust?? We all know the real answer lol. No one has time to wear 10,000 palettes and we need to be more honest with ourselves and realistic, this isn’t a fantasy world.
Well there is the makeup drawers for reference makeup, then the drawers for memory makeup, then the drawers for their “friends “ collabs, the drawers for currently using, the drawers for colourpop, indie, the drawers for giveaways the drawers for…
Also, I bought the maybelline single shadow in nude glow because I saw it at my walmart and its THE perfect single eyeshadow! Im obsessed! Such a good hidden gem! 💯
I have oily/combination skin and I do not like putting a lot of layers on my skin because I am prone to breakouts. I always use a primer, after letting my sunscreen set, and I usually go for a more matte sunscreen and a more hydrating primer to get a nice balance. Rather than skip primer, I will usually skip foundation and go right to concealer, or I will use a bb cream/tinted moisturizer instead of foundation
🌺🌻🌸 I think as we get older we've figured out some preferences so it makes it easier to say no to buying something bc it doesn't fit the criteria. It's so nice to lose the fomo! I love peach lipstick, it's my default color 🧡
My skin is combo leaning oily and I put on my sunscreen first followed by a targeted application of a smoothing, mattifying, or pore-filling primer. My favorite at the moment is NYX Angel Veil 🌻
I absolutely remember your video about letting go of your ‘fantasy self’ and I still think about it. I even mentioned to my husband the other day that it’s okay to NOT be that person. You don’t have to be that person if it’s not you
I used different shave oils for a long time and then one day I refilled an empty bottle with olive oil...I will never go back. I thought it would be too thick and the smell would bother me. Nope, it's perfect.
My very first thought when this video started was how wonderful you look. It may not look the way you want in person, but on camera you look amazing. This looks polished, wearable and beautiful. If you hadn't said anything, I would never have noticed anything. Even after you said something, I could not see much.
Can we get a link for that cinnamon tea please? I’m so curious!! Also, the Youth to the People Superclay purify + clear power mask is my favorite! I have slightly oily skin and large pores and that stuff is great for clearing everything out. 🌸🌸🌸
You did a cute eyeshadow look one time where you put some blue eyeshadow on your lower lash line and it looked so cute! Just a little pop of color, you should definitely try doing little pops of color more often! 😊
I have very, very dry and textured skin, plus I have a scar from skin cancer removal that extends from my cheekbone almost to the top of my jawbone. A pore-filling primer is a necessity for me. I layer in this way: serum, moisturizer, sunscreen, primer, tinted something or foundation. I don't really go for much coverage, just a general evening out and a little glow.
Agreed with the peach lipstick! Have you ever thought of doing a color analysis? I did and found out I’m cool toned and it changed the makeup game for me!❤
I love your discussion of the concept of "Fantasy Self": I do it with my airport\ travel Fantasy look; clothing I would keep for looking put together at the airport. I travel maybe twice a year, so, after your discussion a while back, it struck me- I stopped collecting and storing for that purpose. THANK YOU!
I swear by the laniege cica sleeping mask for hydration (and breakouts to promote healing) and I use the New York biology Dead Sea mud mask from Amazon. I also use the corsx rice sleeping mask but honestly I use that one as a moisturizer at night (just use less than you would if you were to use it as a mask).
Love the honesty! The other day I went to the bathroom at work to touch up my makeup and quickly realized there was no fixing what I had going on lol. One of my favorite foundations…just one of those days.
Aesthetician here! The Revision skincare pore purifying clay mask is seriously one of the BEST masks I have ever use. Every time I use it I look in the mirror after and am amazed about how good my skin looks. I have DRY skin and I love that this clay mask does dry down and get tight/cracks. It’s moisturizing AND purifying. It’s amazing.
I never thought of "fantasy self" but I like that terminology! I was such a makeup hoarder/collector, especially when it came to Disney themed launches and such. I used the stuff a handful of times but only kept them for YEARS because they were Disney. . same with clothes, "I'll keep them for when I lose weight again", etc.
Fresh has a Black Tea mask in a jar and it’s incredible, my skin looks so glowy and poreless, and I never wear masks (too impatient to do the work lol) but man this is worth it!
Okay this hilarious because I love your content and recommendations- BUT I absolutely cannot live without my elf power grip primer, elf setting spray, and powder hoola bronzer 😆 Loved this video! Super interesting 🪻🪻🪻
if you ever miss sheet masks, i have the avant guard mask from experiment. it’s a reusable silicone mask. i pair it with a hydrating serum & it works similarly to a sheet mask without the waste. 🌺🌸🌻
Hi Jessica! I live in the desert in Southern California & I hate to see spring coming!!! My morning glories are already blooming in back yard! They’re beautiful, purple my favorite color. The weather has been weird, it was hailing here last week. My morning glories were blooming in December!!! My favorite ones I can buy are peonies, Trader Joe’s has great ones!!!! I’ll be happy to get the jacuzzi going again though. 😃
I use a smoothing blurring primer every makeup day after my basic sunscreen. Most days in the spring and summer it’s the Tower 28 tinted sunscreen that goes on top or a regular foundation. My 54 year old face needs it. I 💕💕💕 sheet masks and will never give them up. Rarely use setting spray - only on days I’m going somewhere special and take extra care with my makeup. No gel liners in the pot for me- I only use pencil liners and brow products
I like the sheet mask, I can put it on while I relax and read a book, nothing dribbles or drips!!😂 and a primer just in the areas where make-up comes off easiest is still useful....& setting spray in summer if you live in a hot climate is still a must. 👍
In my 60s and need all the help I can get! I use Sunscreen, Primer AND Setting Spray. Mask at least 1x /wk. Love the Dr. Jart ones... You look lovely in this video! Definitely giving Spring vibes! Gerber Daisy and Lilacs 🌼🪻
🪻🌻🌷 love this type of video, I need to simplify my makeup collection so badly!! After working in the makeup industry for almost 7 years I’ve amassed quite a collection and it’s just overwhelming and unrealistic now
I bought the cinnamon tea based on your recommendations several years ago. Have loved it ever since! With black tea I usually need sugar but this doesn't need it at all. So good!
I have several favorite face masks in jars/tubes that I use. Two of which are quite affordable on Amazon, YesStyle, and Stylevana. Plus, they regularly go on great sales. My absolute must have is the Isntree mugwort calming clay mask. Love it!!! It is a clay mask, but it does not dry super hard or make your face feel tight or stripped. It legit calms my face. My face always feels smoother and looks more even after washing it off. Love it!!! I also like the I’m From honey face mask. It is a soothing and moisturizing face mask that I often apply after using a chemical exfoliating face mask. It smells lovely and helps to hydrate and calm my skin. It is often compared to a Farmacy face mask that is similar to it.
Omg can you please make a sit down “getting real” video about our fantasy selves? I find it to be such an interesting topic. Sometimes it’s so hard to decipher between what I want, and what I think I want. In some ways it goes hand in hand with your video about trends.
I’m using the Kopari Lychee mask. It’s very nice- has a light refreshing tropical scent and is a white thin paste-y texture. I’ve also been enjoying the TonyMoly. I’m coffee mask- you might really enjoy the coffee smell. It’s more of a gel to cream formula
as an oily gal, i wear my face sunscreen and then use a milani setting spray as primer (it's meant to be multi purpose in this way!) and then i go in with the rest (bb cream, etc)
Totally random, but I am absolutely loving the backdrop. The makeup look, your top, and background all look so beautiful together🙂😌 Anyway, love your videos and all the beauty and Disney content. Also, im combo/oily living in Hawaii and I don’t wear primer everyday.. but when I do, it’s after sunscreen and right before foundation.
I SWEAR by the Mary Kay deep-cleansing charcoal mask. It’s the only Mary Kay product I use, but I’m obsessed! You can literally see the charcoal pulling the junk out of your pores, but it’s not overly drying. I LOVE
For me, I'm combo/oily and I definitely need something that will help keep my makeup on. Also I feel ya with the peach lipsticks - I always want to wear peachy tones, but it just doesn't work on me haha! 🌻🌻🌻
The Body Shop Himalayan charcoal mask is amazing! I have been using it for 3 years. It is my absolute favorite. Your skin feels amazing during. You can feel it work it deep cleans, then closes your pores. Skin feels soft & the top layer is completely reformed!
🪻🪻🪻happy spring! I have combo/oily skin and I need an oil controlling primer! It goes over my sunscreen, but I haven’t found a sunscreen that matti flies well enough to replace or stop using primer all together! Love your content!
Ok I need to see you in peach lipstick. Please do a reverse makeup tutorial on peach lipstick and other makeup you think doesn’t look flattering on you. That is, if you even still have that makeup around. Thank you! 🌷🪻🌹
I love the Bliss Marshmallow Brightening mask(in a jar) for when I am in the bath. It's rich and whippy feeling and really makes my skin feel soft and well moisturized when I am done. Super affordable too.
🌹🐝🌹🐝🌹 I stopped buying shaving cream absolute YEARS ago. I didn't really shave my legs but even so, I switched to using hair conditioner to shave with. As for face masks, I will buy an occasional tube of peel iff from time to time but my main go to is bentonite clay mixed with ACV to make a paste & just jump in the shower when it has dried completely to wash it off. Happy Spring!

Well there is the makeup drawers for reference makeup, then the drawers for memory makeup, then the drawers for their “friends “ collabs, the drawers for currently using, the drawers for colourpop, indie, the drawers for giveaways the drawers for…

Favorite jar mask would be either the plumping or clarify mask from Primally pure! They are all amazing but those are my favorites.
💐🌷🌼
I also don’t like peach on me anymore!!! I got rid of 7 because I kept trying it and hating it
I was just saying to myself man you makeup looks great today!
So much love to you, Jessica! Happy Tuesday and thank you for being the best internet little sister ever!! 💖
Also, I bought the maybelline single shadow in nude glow because I saw it at my walmart and its THE perfect single eyeshadow! Im obsessed! Such a good hidden gem! 💯
Girrrrllll what is the makeup you’re wearing?!?! Your skin is GLOWING!! You look stunning, radiant, and natural 😍
🌷Every time you said something about a jar, it made me think of lyric about Eleanor Riby keeping her face in the jar by the door.
🌼🌼🌼 What I do is put my toner in a spray bottle instead of cotton wipes, an and same thing with micellar water to remove make up.
🌺🌻🌸 I think as we get older we've figured out some preferences so it makes it easier to say no to buying something bc it doesn't fit the criteria. It's so nice to lose the fomo! I love peach lipstick, it's my default color 🧡
I LOVE that tea! Honey added takes it over the top!!
I feel you on the high coverage foundation!
We are there! First day of spring! 🌷🌷🌷
Love your channel so much 🌼 🌸 🌻 🌹 🏵 spring is here
🪻🌺🌷I love the Elemis Papaya Enzyme peel as my rescue mask option. It brightens so well!
I've same scaring only nose up thru forehead. What primer do you use? I'm still on the search for a good one. Thanks!
Agreed with the peach lipstick! Have you ever thought of doing a color analysis? I did and found out I’m cool toned and it changed the makeup game for me!❤
Your complexion is flawless! You should do a GRWM video using the products you used today ❤️😁🌸
My favorite mask is the Ole Henrikson Cold Plunge mask - it helps a ton for pores! And is nice and cooling - I leave on for about 30 mins. 🩵
I love your discussion of the concept of "Fantasy Self": I do it with my airport\ travel Fantasy look; clothing I would keep for looking put together at the airport. I travel maybe twice a year, so, after your discussion a while back, it struck me- I stopped collecting and storing for that purpose. THANK YOU!
Happy Tuesday Jess! ❤
🌺🌺🌺 can’t wait for it to feel like spring here. It’s still snowing 😊
For those asking about the Tea... She used to talk about Harney & Sons alooooong time ago.
Thank you!
Do you use the one in the brown jar or white jar?
@@MissLollipopLover white!
Okay this hilarious because I love your content and recommendations- BUT I absolutely cannot live without my elf power grip primer, elf setting spray, and powder hoola bronzer 😆 Loved this video! Super interesting 🪻🪻🪻
I just use hair conditioner for shaving 😂😂
if you ever miss sheet masks, i have the avant guard mask from experiment. it’s a reusable silicone mask. i pair it with a hydrating serum & it works similarly to a sheet mask without the waste. 🌺🌸🌻
I adore the Peach & Lily Super Reboot mask! It is a holy grail for me for texture and just feeling super cleaned out
🪻🌻🌷 love this type of video, I need to simplify my makeup collection so badly!! After working in the makeup industry for almost 7 years I’ve amassed quite a collection and it’s just overwhelming and unrealistic now
I absolutely swear by the sand and sky emu apple mask. It's just beautiful and it leaves my face feeling like silk. Highly highly recommend 👍👍👍👍
I bought the cinnamon tea based on your recommendations several years ago. Have loved it ever since! With black tea I usually need sugar but this doesn't need it at all. So good!
I think you are right on with this video. We need to adjust our routine with our age and changing skin and lifestyle!
Cute little lights in background makes it look calm and cozy. Thanks for turning them on.
🌷🌷🌷💐 My husband and I moved to Florida this winter, and I am SO SAD to have lost track of the seasons. Happy spring to you!
So fun going down the memory lane of make up so to say! 🪻🌺🪻 speaking of lipstick this shade you have on is so nice! ❤thank you Jess!
You should make a video of all your favorite types of sunscreen glowy, matte, hydrating etc
OMG JESS!! I have the same corduroy jacket as you're wearing in the vid!! And I just wore it yesterday! 😆
I got hooked on your three step eyeliner routine and still do it 😂
🌷🪻🌹
The 2 masks I’ve repurchased multiple times are Dermalogica multivitamin recovery mask and drunk elephant baby facial. So good!!🌸🌸🌸
as an oily gal, i wear my face sunscreen and then use a milani setting spray as primer (it's meant to be multi purpose in this way!) and then i go in with the rest (bb cream, etc)
I LOVE
🌸🌸🌸 I agree with most of your takes, but I do still use a setting spray to help with staying power.
For me, I'm combo/oily and I definitely need something that will help keep my makeup on. Also I feel ya with the peach lipsticks - I always want to wear peachy tones, but it just doesn't work on me haha! 🌻🌻🌻
I definitely used to buy for my fantasy self so much. I’m much better now at only buying things I know I’ll use
The Body Shop Himalayan charcoal mask is amazing! I have been using it for 3 years. It is my absolute favorite. Your skin feels amazing during. You can feel it work it deep cleans, then closes your pores. Skin feels soft & the top layer is completely reformed!
I don’t mind these short videos as long as it’s interesting and keeping me entertained.😊
🪻🪻🪻happy spring! I have combo/oily skin and I need an oil controlling primer! It goes over my sunscreen, but I haven’t found a sunscreen that matti flies well enough to replace or stop using primer all together! Love your content!
Happy spring, Jessica! 🌺🌸🌼🪻
Ok I need to see you in peach lipstick. Please do a reverse makeup tutorial on peach lipstick and other makeup you think doesn’t look flattering on you. That is, if you even still have that makeup around. Thank you! 🌷🪻🌹
yes, gel eyeliner is my one product I can not live without!
I love the Bliss Marshmallow Brightening mask(in a jar) for when I am in the bath. It's rich and whippy feeling and really makes my skin feel soft and well moisturized when I am done. Super affordable too.
Ooh sounds nice 😊
I love The Ordinary Charcoal and Salicylic Acid mask in the tube. It clears out everything all the excess oil, and then treats my acne too.
Same
I need a good tan for peach to look on me (lips/shadows/blushes). So I usually only wear it at the height of summer
The Philosophy purity made simple mask is my holy grail! It’s the only mask I can notice a huge difference after using
