I lived in Yorkville for 23 years and you're correct that it's not a "happening party place." I was a regular at a couple of good bars there, but for concerts and other events I usually go downtown. If you're a fitness or nature buff, the close proximity to Central Park is a big plus. In fact, that's the only thing I miss about living there. Central Park was virtually my backyard.
Central Park makes that area so desirable. There was a bar there I used to go to for trivia night. Overall I like the neighborhood when I'm looking for an easy paced night. Thanks for watching my video!
I spent 10’days in nyc and 3 days I lived in UES somewhere between carniege hill and yorkville. It seemed to me there were plenty of good restaurants and near museums and I was 4 blocks from Central Park which was great but I didn’t see many bars or clubs or live theater venues. I went to the Upper west side for one day and it seems more of the same as UES except less or no museum but the Lincoln center was there
We lived on 72nd and 1st and it was a quiet neighbood with lots of things to do and lots of places to dine and shop. The best of it was that you could go and have fun all around Manhattan and then come home to a pretty quiet area. Very pricey but safe.
This is a very informative video. As someone who have recently moved to NYC, I found it very interesting and learned many new things from this video! Keep up the good work!
I just started working in midtown manhattan this week after having only visited once before 10 yrs ago, I know nothing about the city and grew up very far away from it so your videos have been SO helpful. Thank you!!
Thanks! It seems pretty nice. The areas near Central Park though are pretty busy with tourist but that's only during the day. Summer evenings are nice.
That is correct. I always thought of the UES as a purely residential neighborhood when I lived in NYC. Not much happening there. If you go in the evening, the streets are virtually empty.
I just came back from NYC (10 days vacation there). I wish I had seen your videos beforehand. I’m going through your videos and it’s very well written hitting all the important highlights. So much detail in a somewhat short video. I actually spend a few days in upper east side!
I'm liking your concise and knowledgeable breakdown of the city. I live in westchester. We're planning on doing lots of city vacations in Europe, America east coast and Midwest cities. I thought it would be great to break the city into a bunch of "local" mini weekend explores. Your videos have been very helpful! This Sunday I'm hoping to to the New York historical society and exploring the upper West side. I post RUclips unedited footage of my walk around trips in the different cities we go. I appreciate all the effort you put into on your videos. Best wishes :-)
Hi, I love the video it was pretty educational I really enjoyed it and learnt a lot, I have never been there and I'm planning my trip to go there and this video is very useful,🥰
Hello, i am from Germany, i really like your videos. It is very informative for somebody who is interested in New York City, please keep going and make more Videos like That.👍🤝
Thanks for Videos and great summary! I moved to NY a few days ago and these videos help to get the understanding about the areas where to look for an apartment!
It looks like you haven't been in the upper east side lately because the night life are as good or even better than downtown, ain't nothing boring about the UES
Hello hello. I love your videos !!!! Im going to visit New York last week of May. This year. One question for you. What about public restrooms? I was watching a video from other youtuber and he said it is no restrooms open because the pandemic. Is it true???
Hi and thanks! Even before the pandemic, restrooms were always hard to come by. The default for many is to go to a Starbucks or large coffee place. As for public restrooms, the ones I know of are available. Maybe the video you saw was a bit older. Right now restrictions are starting to loosen up. Going out today is a lot different than it was 2 months ago.
While in the UES, so to the Conservatory Gardens. It's the best kept secret in Central Park. Also the Museum of the City of New York I'd where they filmed Gossip Girls. This Museum and El Museo Del Barrio would have done wonderful, Free, parties every week during the summer🙄Pre Covid
While many real estate agents and landlords might want the rest of the world to believe Carnegie Hill extends eastward to Third Avenue, the Upper East Side cognoscenti draw the line at Lexington Avenue!
The UES is basically two zones, west of 3rd Ave and east of 3rd Ave. Carnegie and Lenox Hill are realistically just one neighborhood, and Yorkville should actually span from the bottom of UES to the top. Yorkville is honestly it's own separate neighborhood from the UES.
Having lived in Yorkville for 15+ years, I would subdivide it in to two sections. 1st to 3rd and 1st to EE/river. Between 1st and 3rd there are a lot of recent college grads in walk-up rentals. The vibe can feel a bit like a fraternity party. Between 1st and East End it is much more, dare I say, residential. Some townhouses, many co-ops, a lot of stable ownership. Many young families since it's close to Carl Schurz Park. Very nice place to live.
I've lived on the upper east side of Manhattan pretty much all my life I'm 26 and I wish I could meet new amazing people who live on the upper east side to go thrifting and walks along FDR drive or walk through Central Park or go electric scooter ride. I hope to my love here someday after living here so long and knowing the inns and out
The UES .the place to be in the city. I love living in the neighborhood .shop..eat pray and cruise..lol Feeling fabulous..Brandy s Bar to join the crowed and Dorian s to meet the rest ..fun fun fun.
Sorry, you know nothing about NYC. Upper East Side is not a party place? For decades since before I was born it was nothing but bars, night clubs, and singles joints. Only The Village compares with the amount of bars and restaurants.
Most snobby aristocratic wealthy place . Old money place . Upper east side . New money place young people rich is lower Manhattan ( Chelsea , village , meat pack district , etc
Your videos are the best I’ve seen re learning about NYC. Very informative and fun to watch. Thank you :)

Love this channel so much. Enabled me to explore NYC more than if I hadn’t watched your videos
Thank you! 😊 Hopefully NYC will be a lot more enjoyable as the year progresses with less restrictions.
I like the efforts and skits you put in!
I heard the UES is more residential and relative more quiet than other neighborhood

You’re clinking your teacup WAY too much to be from Carnegie Hill, lol!! Thanks for this very funny but informative video!!! You are the best!!!
Love the cutaways - laughed every time at 'how do you do' lol thanks!

Popularized by gossip girl, at one point had everyone wanting to move there after the OC
I haven't seen the OC. Would you recommend it?
@@UrbanCaffeine you have no idea what your in for if you’ve never seen it. I’d say it’s life changing
Watching this while in the UES rn
Thank you for the helpful French bookstore recommendation, and for all your videos, they made my recent vist to NYC easier!

Thanks for Videos and great summary!
I moved to NY a few days ago and these videos help to get the understanding about the areas where to look for an apartment!
Thanks! Apartment hunting is its own adventure in New York. Sometimes I think its worth moving here just to experience looking for an apartment. 😂
Thank you for this video! I thoroughly enjoyed the acting in between lol so refreshing! :D
Thanks for watching! Glad you like it. 😊
Very interesting ! Very informative as I might move to America for a brief time.
Wonderful, wonderfully clear and informative. Thank you - will look to other videos you have done. You have a teaching gift, I think.
Thank you! Hope you enjoy the channel.
Super super informative videos😊😊
Shocking how not funny this video is. But informative! Thx

Nice! Glad you're enjoying UES.
Love the name, love the vids ... one unsolicited suggestion: 2 or 3% tempo increase
How do you dooooooo ???
OoooOooOoo... How do you dooooo???
How does lenox hill the cheapest? the most exclusive fine dining restaurants are there
So carniege hill is the most expensive part of the upper east side? That’s odd considering going past 97th it’s east Harlem and much poorer
WOW nice voibe 🙏🇳🇵🇳🇵
Thank you!!

Thanks! I'm working on a video on Midtown and some of the boundaries there too are crazy inconsistent.
You are right, I lived on E73st between 1st and York for half a year in 2019 and most people called it Yorkville, not UES.
How do you do?
Having lived in Yorkville for 15+ years, I would subdivide it in to two sections. 1st to 3rd and 1st to EE/river. Between 1st and 3rd there are a lot of recent college grads in walk-up rentals. I wanna know more about York Ave
I don't know much about York Ave. But I did see this on Reddit the other day about Yorkville: vimeo.com/296702543
Silk stocking
4th Avenue is not Park; it is Lexington.
I've lived on the upper east side of Manhattan pretty much all my life I'm 26 and I wish I could meet new amazing people who live on the upper east side to go thrifting and walks along FDR drive or walk through Central Park or go electric scooter ride. Thank you!

Lost it at the "How do you do's?"
How do you dooooooooo 😂
The photo isn't of Audrey Hepburn.
How do you dooooo? 😂
Well...How do you do?
I'm fine. Thank yoooooooooou. ☕️
@@UrbanCaffeine I’m using this line next time I eat up there lol
why doesnt manhthan have night clubs
There are plenty of night clubs! 😀 I would suggest Lower East Side, Hell's Kitchen, and other parts of Midtown and Lower Manhattan.
Public restrooms???
Your rich person impressions are dreadful please stop
Haha 😂 yeah it's pretty bad. But thanks for watching!
Most snobby aristocratic wealthy place . Old money place . Upper east side . New money place young people rich is lower Manhattan ( Chelsea , village , meat pack district , etc
I spent most of my childhood in thee Upper East Side, and I don't really appreciate this video.
skip the accents please😡
Its annoying not explaining the un shaded area on your map.
Great video!
