Loved this song since it first came out when I was a Mod all those years ago. I never ever tire of listening to it, very nostalgic, takes me back every time.
"You need some sympathy? Well... So do I!" I've loved ALL Fortunes song that ever played in the USA since they appeared here! They STILL PLAY: You've got your troubles. Here it comes again. And Rainy Day Feeling. EVERY DAY here in Las Vegas, NV on our local oldies station, 102.3 FM. I'm pretty sure I have played all three of those and maybe more in just about all the rock bands I was in in the 1960s.
I love how Rod walks off the stage with his bass to the host’s desk, none of the studio staff have taken his bass to put it away, so he just turns to the crowd and asks someone to look after it while he does the interview!
One of my all time faves! This song was ahead of its time for 1965, The horns are absolutely stunning, including the baritone sax that honks loudly and provides assistance to the trombones for the bottom sound. The singing (in the original recording) was flawless and beautifully blended, especially the counter melody sung in the last verse. It's sad that we're losing our great artists to the inevitable march of time. Let's treasure them while we can.
I looked them up in 2010 when I rode a light rail to downtown phoenix az and I seen a young british guy riding across from me on the light rail on my way to work and this song suddendly came into my mind. I had to look up this song and remembered it from a little boy in the 1960's and dang seen this singer performed in the mid 1960's and this is him now in 2004. Wonder if he's alive today in 2021 and all in the original video song in the 1960's are in theri 70's and 80's by now.
Knew Rod and Barry from them being friends with my ex father in law. Love them and their music they were amazing loved Rod and Barry. Thanks for everything xx
The Name of the county is The Netherlands, They consist of 12 Provinces, two of them are North Holland and South Holland!! Thanks for posting this Fabulous music!!
SENIOR YEAR AT EAST MEADOW HIGH< FINDS THE " GEIST" BROTHERS PERFORMING THIS TUNE ON THE ASSEMBLY STAGE> SILENTLY REALIZING OUR BAND HAS MORE TALENT, I SIT BACK TO ENJOY THE DESCENT SHOW.
Beuatiful harmonics, they don't write songs like that anymore. It's mostly monotone rap today. Sad. Thank you Fortunes for the wonderful music you brought.
I don't think the song would have been the huge hit that it was had it not been for the horn section, which the synthesizer here does a great job in mimicking. Bravo to the key player. :)
That's Bob Jackson. He retired in 2018. Good keyboard player, did some sterling work (and took a great lead vocal) on an LP called The Pit And The Pendulum when he was in Alan Ross's band, Ross.
It's 2023, I'm 74 years old, and still listening to this song. Who's with me?
Me too listening to the Fortunes👌

Still my favourite band. The lads did many gigs for me at The Hamilton Club Birkenhead.
One of the best singers ever to grace a stage anywhere.
The lead singer has the most beautiful voice.
60 years later and these guys are still around!😲
Good to see that Rod Allen still had those fantastic pipes that took The Fortunes to the top of the charts. R.I.P.
Yes I can hear that familiar voice and it still sounds great. RIP.
They were always an excellent harmony band with good songs.

Some songs never lose their freshness. I've been listening to this one since it came out, and it's still genius today.

We were walking, we were talking. The way that lovers do. Makes my heart ache for a long lost love.
That looks like Bob Jackson on keys - liked him in Badfinger (Head First album). I didn't know he was in the Fortunes.
Talk to anyone that knew them and Rod was the perfect gentleman.
It still sounds pretty good to me.
So smooth..😎
The end coda of the the vocal part is amazing! ~V~
Beuatiful harmonics, they don't write songs like that anymore. It's mostly monotone rap today. Sad. Thank you Fortunes for the wonderful music you brought.

@@BackToTheBlues Thank you. I thought musicians never retired. Music it seems is their oxygen.
GREAT JOB👍
For a while. Rod played local clubs singing to backing tracks. He played at the Haworth Cycling Club around 1990.

Mit diesem Lied werde ich sterben
2024 Heard it on Boomer!😊
Like lays potato chips.
Nigel Farage is a surprisingly good lead singer 🍺🍻
Pleasant surprise looks just like George Harrison of The Beatles
Who knew Piers Morgan was the drummer for this great 60’s group? !
Great band, great song. My only question is, why are they using this 80's keyboards sound in 2004? Didn't the 90's teach us to strip down?
can anyone tell e what the song is at 4.59, im not sure ive heard it before
Heroes Never Die . It’s on RUclips
Was this the Dutch version of tfi Friday

There are no tonsils in Holland.
