Book Launch: 'Slipstreaming - In the West of Ireland' by Jim Burke & John Liddy Fri 19th April 2024

An exceptional night of poetry and celebration as the two founding fathers of The Stony Thursday Book, John Liddy and Jim Burke, were back together again for the launch of their joint project 'Slipstreaming - In the West of Ireland', a unique reimagining of a trip they embarked on over 50 years ago when they were both fledgling poets. As poet Anton Floyd, who officially launched the collection, pointed out (quoting from one of John Liddy's poems in the collection) 'this was a search for a song to sing' - encapsulating the essence of their literary odyssey. Revival Press, who are increasingly the custodian of literary legacies, were the proud publishers of this collection of poems and poetry editor Tommy Collins of Revival Press welcomed it's publication as the 172nd book published under the Limerick Writers' Centre community publishing project.
Both poets were overwhelmed with the response to the book, and the large attendance showed the esteem they are help in by the poetry community. For those eager to join the poets on this literary voyage, the book is available from local bookshops and on-line at www.limerickwriterscentre.com
