@@brodricj3023 Your best bet is to aim for the trees without stalling, as my instructor says. Rivers are hard to judge from straight up depth wise, not to mention your objective is to survive the ditching, not to drown. Trees provide the chance to "catch" (more or less) the plane coming down. Rivers (at least up here in Alaska) provide the potential to lose survival equipment, get hypothermia prematurely and are the usual spots for bears to hang out.
I doubt much of those Alaska problems would be a factor in PNG, but survivalbility is better when you aim for trees generally.

@@georgewhitworth9742 The rivers are full of low trees, and they are far more spongy and forgiving than 200' solid trees not in the river. You aim for the river and with a bit of luck you'll end up in low spongy trees to cushion the impact. Anything else you end up dead and falling 200' through the canopy to the ground.

Hard to see in the videos, but does it light up if a checklist is incomplete?
Who makes them for your aircraft?

No, it doesn't light up. It used to have lights but you couldn't ever see the lights

As a retired aircraft engineer (of 42 years) working on commercial aircraft for an international airline, I would be interested in seeing how the maintenance is performed on a Kodiak aircraft(s) whilst undergoing maintenance. Example, an engine change, propeller change, landing gear(s) or a scheduled heavy maintenance input would be good examples of what is involved in PNG. Thank you.

I don't know anything about flying, but when you discuss avoiding the clouds is it for better imaging for the video or is it because it would be dangerous to fly inside clouds with this kind of plane?

He's complying with PNG flight rules for Class F airspace (remain clear of cloud and in sight of the ground with 5km visibility).

This particular video, I didn't want to be climbing towards a mountain and not give myself very much room to get through incase the clouds moved or built up.

What is the IATA code on that airstrip? I wanna see if it can be found in Microsoft flight simulator.

Hi Ryan, whar headset are you using. I'm going to start my PPL ground training soon and I cannot stand over the ear headphones. Yours look like a good solution for me. Thanks, Eugen

Clarity aloft, the pro version. Don't get the classis, the mic boom will annoy the heck out of you because it's too weak
