The leak is definitely a pain in the neck for you but the roof-raise and interior redo will make great content for your channel so that's a plus at least. Hope you have a great trip home too.
Loren, if you took two pick up toppers, put them back to back, fiberglass and so on. The dimensions you’re talking about seem like a topper from a 1/4 ton pickup. You can get these pretty cheap if you look around. Bonus, you’ll get windows up there.

@lolesoffroad M&C are great. They are enjoying the Az desert. I am installing my diesel heater. Oh! what a project. Trying to decide - diesel tank and fuel line inside or out. Mounting the existing fuel tank outside(?); underneath? Should I buy another tougher plastic Jerry can(?). Any suggestions would be great.
@ I would connect the diesel heater to your main thank to eliminate diesel smell inside the living space. And then you never have to Corey running out of fuel
Hi Loren happy new year.Nice to see that you are looking at a partial roof rase. If the aluminum sheet is thin enough to bend down along all four sides for an inch or so then that would help to seal out water. The 4 corners are always a challenge to seal. If you want to do this method then all an inch or two on each dimension . On the topic of solar panel mounts can you do a roof rack that mounts along the top of the wall sides instead of bolting down through the roof itself. It is easier to seal water out on a vertical wall than a flat roof. Food for thought. Have a great trip to Europe. Tom in the Maritimes at the NB-NS border

How much did you play in Chrome getting a new van? Next point. We all cut holes in our van for windows and air vents/fans, but in my book, Sikaflex only, no screws or bolts, no drilling in your roof. Just sayin.

Yes I do 😊…. I went to Europe (with him ) a couple of times to visit my in-laws 😊 Nowadays I save my days off to travel local and in case I need to go home back home Philippines (my mum isn’t really well )
