    I measured the distance from the plate edge to the blade, which is exactly 3" on my saw. Then I just subtract that from my distance and place the square on my mark.

    Awesome tip. I made a jig for cutting plywood but it will not work for 2x material. This is so easy and costs my a dollar or so. Brilliant!!
