I measured the distance from the plate edge to the blade, which is exactly 3" on my saw. Then I just subtract that from my distance and place the square on my mark.
Incredibly simple; that few would ever think of. Wow! Thanks "Wood Magazine"!. For I imagine, that most seeing this "Gem"; is going to do this awesome woodworking jig!
