Thank you for doing this video man. I've been getting into video game collecting, its been booming but you have to watch every dollar and the fees add up on sites. Heritage is actually the 2nd largest site for graded video games unfortunately (the fees + other known issues is why I say unfortunately), 4 days ago the highest all time xbox 360 game sold for 53k on there which is crazy. Anyways, thanks for looking out for others and their wallet with some of these bs fees.
Very good video! HA is one of main sources I use, as a seller, to see what stuff has sold for. The BP is included with the sold price too. Just a little thing.
Also, keep in mind many of these “live auctions” are not really ran by a real person. Only the high roller stuff in person usually. It’s all digital now. So it makes sense the invoices aren’t ready for a day or so. Lastly, Pay via electronic check which doesn’t cost anything. It takes a day or so longer for shipping but that’s that.
Oh, I'm sure it was an automated system. But the bidding was live. Also, I fully admit to being a computer moron but I would think the fact that it was an automated digital system would speed up the process for paying. 30 years ago when I was the (bad) auctioneer at my dads baseball card shop, we did a live auction every week. When I think of how easy it would be today for someone to pay via cash app or paypal while still sitting in the chair during the auction, it kinda breaks my brain to think I have to wait overnight to pay. Scratch that. It pains me to think that I can't pay when the auction is over. I have to log out. Go to sleep. Wait for an email the next day, then log back in and complete the process. As for electronic check... I get a sick feeling typing my bank account number for anything. Credit card doesn't scare me because if anyone gets the number, I'm not responsible for fraud. With an e check, that's my money which I'm sure I can get back eventually but until I do, I'm out MY money. I had this happen in the passed. Much easier to deal with credit card fraud.
Great overview of Heritage. Lots of hidden fees. I usually pay with a electronic check. That saves some money, but it does take a little longer to get your item. Thanks!
I understand the additional cost with a credit card but you would think that would be part of the “ buyer’s premium “. They could then just pocket the extra money when a card isn’t used. I better check to see if I received a “ criticized heritage on RUclips “ fee. lol 🤣😂🤣
When I buy from Heritage, thats one thing I always check for, is the fees. Then I compare it to what other sellers have the same/like item for and see where I can get the best deal.
I use and have used HA for years. Very reputable and where lots of the big players are. The only auction house I’d venture to say in numismatics that’s “higher” per se is Stacks and Legends. One thing, most people who bid on HA always take into consideration the BP. I know I use that information to make my Max bid. So you know what it’s going to cost you except the shipping and tax which you can calculate out. The other thing is the prices may seem high however this is where most stuff is bought at public the cheapest possible. MANY sellers/dealers buy from HA and resale it at their shops, eBay (especially), IG Facebook etc for WAY higher as a BIN. So in my opinion it’s cheaper than eBay and those other sources. Anyways, nice overview.
I'm sure most people have used ebay and most have heard of Heritage. I thought people would really like seeing a first hand account of dealing with them was like. I would do it again in a heartbeat! It was fun, exciting, informative, and I got a steal! I filmed the unboxing as a separate video and then I filmed what I got as it's own Thursday spot light. I also just saw a video from Ben the coin geek I think, do something on Heritage about a day later.
It depends on the price of the item. I could not find the chart again but I do remember seeing the fee for $10,000,000 was $100,000. Not that I am going to spend that much. It just shows that the fee does go up at certain intervals.

They have great stuff and as long as you pay attention, you can find great deals!

That's a new one to me!
I’d rather sell an item on this site 🤔👍
