…..and that's coming from a man that spits out absolutely brutal, pulverizing tone! Not surprised EVH won. I just finally received the new 6L6 212 combo not long ago and am thoroughly delighted with it. It's almost as big as a 4x12 lol! I'm not anywhere near the caliber of player Jason or Eddie are but I love all thigs EVH and it's only a matter of time before I get this head (50W version). Cheers!
I have a 5150iii combo as well and I'm contemplating having it modded to EL34s and having a clean mod done as well as an independent volume/gain for my clean channel.
Wood Booger - You may miss the 6L6's? I do like EL34's for more vintage laid back British crunch, but for aggressive playing and pure EVH tone I still prefer the 6L6's most of the time. It's all in good fun though, brother. Whatever works best and keeps you inspired.
@@JanPatrickLucas I play more classic rock than heavy stuff. I live on the blue channel. I had a JCM900 with EL34s before the EVH. I love my EVH more though, it sounds great, I have always wondered what EL34s would sound like in it though.
“Wet, dry, wet” setup. Dear lord I didn’t realize there was so much involved with touring rigs. I’d like to know what all those things do that are next to the amp.
It's not that complicating actually, i toured with w/d/w rig last year and it's awesome. I use my EVH 50w and 3 cabs The middle cab being the plain distortion cab and then i use Lexicon rackmount detune and split the effected signal with Duncan stereo poweramp to the left and right cab.
A lot of that is just rack gear that handles the performance aspect of the rig rather then things that directly affect tone. Most likely guitar wireless system, some sort of rack loop switch to turn on and off certain sounds from a master controller, a master switch for the different amps or to be able to switch to backup amps in case of amp failure, power conditioner to ensure proper voltage, and a transmitter that sends a signal to the in ear monitors for the band to have the live mix in their ears.
Would be awesome to hear a comparison since newbs like me don't know the difference but can appreciate after hearing. Love seeing these types of vid's of amazing musicians explaining things, we mostly only hear stuff that's been produced in a studio, fine-tuned and under perfect conditions. Yet musicians can play just as amazing live.
I fuggin LOVE my 6L6 50 watt'er!! (had the 100 for a while too) No boost, plenty'o balls... Saber Tooth Gary! Cheers,. everybody!! (EVH amp user since 2012)
Wish this company had a way to give feedback. I want a red white and black wolfgang with matching headstock and a freaking maple neck. Sell me this guitar!
I have the 50w EL34 Head and it's absolute monster of an amp!
I love my EVHIII and matching cab. RIP Eddie! Godspeed!

its for on stage purposes mostly. when you're at the concert you're most likely hearing a mix through the PA so you wouldn't even notice.

On the verge of getting this amp. Did they try a Friedman to though?! :P
Colin W he said all amp companies and choose this one
Yes, he has also been on Dave’s Podcast bestowing the virtues of the 5150. He does own Friedmans as well.
But I thought you were a Marshall amp guy did you try the jvm 410h.
Wayne Lewis he used it when he played with Alice Cooper
He’s right 😛
His bass, mid and treble was 666
Jesus christ is coming repent choose him today
Choose reality, no he is not. Live in reality today! You can pray to your kneecaps and get the same result.
@josephrusso7069 guess you've never actually prayed and never experienced the power of prayer. I have. Just syain.
I think Jesus uses the 6L6 version...
