2006-2009 was the period of F1 when I loved it the most. Sadly, it's very difficult to "relive" this period when only the 2006 season has a proper product linked to it. Still remember playing this game in the electronic stores when the PS3 was still new. It was one of the best games at the time used to promote the new graphics possibilities of the PS3.
When you compare this game to F1 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014, then this game looks like a next-gen game. Also the music, menu's, game modes, AI aggression, damage and gameplay of this game make's this probably until now the best F1 game so far
+1 Codemasters are great at making racing games but from my view... they should better stick to Dirt and GRID. Love both series but yeah, i would love seeing a new F1 game made by Liverpool studios. Tbh, this year if i recall, Codemasters contract with the F1 expires so, maybe next year we get a new software house... we shall see
Literally the only criticism I have of this game is that it's too easy to lose the rear end on turn-in as you let off the brakes. And the PS3 version has no local multiplayer. Aside from that, perfect.

@@aerospaceracecraft8954 yes but i think career mode at this game is still bether than F1 2020 game. Carrer mode in F1 2020 is unrealistic because AI is unbalanced and AI don't make any mistakes in race. It's annoying.

Ngl I loved playing this game 4/5 yrs ago, the fact that you could change the grid and there was live commentary and a tv mode on a 16 yr old game is amazing. The only thing I didn’t like was the language select screen when you boot the game up as I was (and still) petrified that I’d choose the wrong language (that happens to me once when I put a dvd on and did exactly that when I was 5ish and I still am scared of it 8yrs later) (oh yeah and I have autism)
If only Formula One had a game that combined the tracks, seasons, and cars from all across F1. So there could be a career mode where you choose what year you start in, and the cars, drivers, teams, and season calendars all change as you play, therefore making each career mode playthrough unique.
Do you have the PC version? If so, you can technically do it. There's a guide on RaceDepartment that shows you how to swop out the menu music. You only get to use 3 though.
This game's soundtrack has actually stood the test of time tremendously well despite it having only 2 tracks, probably in my top 3 favorite F1 soundtracks since the PS3 gen. I wish I could say the same about the game itself...
The graphics are great, but the "handling" is awful. Either 100% understeer, or the exact same 180° spin to reverse at 120mph in every turn. The setup options don't seem to do anything.
Ik its late but, Toyota created their own Racing facility Called Gazoo Racing Toyota, they are currently on LMP1 And other endourance categories, i dunno if they have any funding to get to F1. But if they do, Boy it'll be nice!

Yeah, very agressive AI even in practice or qualifying in carreer mode they bump you and make you lose the rear end, well... At least me >:(

both games are based on the 2006 seasons but CE was rebuilt (I believe) to take advantage for the new hardware at the time on PS3.
