Umbakumba Groote Eylandt - This is my people lyrics
Some words translated from Andiliyakwa to English
VERSE 1
Umbakumba we here, its where were from,
It’s about time that we have a song
Angiliyakwa is what we speak
Talk it out, let it out, stomp your feet
Culture here, the language survives
Listen to our elders, keep it alive
Respect every woman and every man
Together dance to salt lake band
Dance, song
Always bring us all together
Island life, on the beach
Good choices is what I tell ya
Make sure you focus on the right choice
One people and one voice
This is our home Umbakumba
All my sisters all my brothers
PRE CHORUS
This is my people
This is my culture
This is my family
Ohh Ohh
CHORUS
Umbakumba it’s a beautiful place, it’s a beautiful place
Umbakumba it’s a beautiful place, it’s a beautiful place
VERSE 2
Groote Eylandt is the place to be
Fishing, hunting, I can be free
Thompsons bay looking for tree
We’ll eat bush food and make didgeridoo

Stingray, crab and barramundi
Camping, swimming with my family
Showing respect, two ways
I hear you, hear what I say
Gotta get clear on what matters
Respect respect for all the fellas
Brother ,sister (JASLYN)
Good song , good
Umbakumba yippee yo yippe yay (AZARIAH)
Hear what say, hear what we say
PRE CHORUS

This is my culture
This is my family
