You guys are awesome. You take your time to give people great advice but don't claim to know everything, Your appreciative of advice given to you aswel, You both let the other one talk without talking over each other which makes you a great couple, and you take the time to reply to everyone that you can. The world needs more people like you two. It's a pleasure to watch your videos. Big thumbs up 👍

Here is another tip, not sure if it has been aired before or not.
Now that Winter draws are on, the risk of encountering water logged & just muddier ground, is increased. Often this does not cause an issue until we come to pack up & leave.
If you are on a grass pitch & think that traction may be an issue this tip can often help out.
Rather than hitch up in line with the caravan, hitch up at a 45 degree angel. When you move forward with traction at a premium, the pulling load on the car is much less as you are only going to move 1 wheel on the van while turning.
Then straighten up & drive forward. This have worked for me twice & I drive a 4wd.
Cheers for now - Non Stick Nick

Another tip we used to use on our Coachman. If your caravan has corner steadies where the drive nut is not visible , you can get a short length of PCV pipe that fits over the drive nut and secure it with normal plumbing pipe clamps to the van floor. Cut the pipe so that it sticks out from the body slightly. Then just insert your wheel brace into the pipe to locate onto the drive nut with ease. Regards Non Stick Nick

Hi both, just to update your viewers, Colapz now offer rock pegs for their waste pipes, much stronger than the original. We use a fabulous site in Melton Mowbray where the pitch is tarmac, so even rock pegs will not go in, I had to use wooden blocks to raise the pipe as the water would not drain away as the drain outlet was quite high compared to the actual pitch.
On Tyron Bands, we had tyres changed on our previous van and the mobile fitter had a tool to take them off when he changed the tyre, it is not as difficult as some people seem to think. You don’t have to go to a specialist fitter.

Thanks for another useful video. As an ex caravanner and now a motorhome owner many of the tips carry across both “paths”. You made me smile about cupboard contents - one answer is with a caravan you try to get weight down low and over the wheels. With a motorhome you just have to put up with rattles and bangs from various lockers!
I didn’t quite follow the tip about the step and using plastic pipe. I use jack pads on the legs and it stops the step from “shuffling” on the awning carpet. Also some pipe insulation will stop the ‘van from being marked by the step.

One old tip that seems out of date since satnavs came along.....
I find that signposts seem to be scarcer the closer you get to your destination. So while at home using a felt tip marker I would write easy to read instructions on a sheet of A4 - eg a circle with an arrow would be a roundabout and the direction to take. The felt tip would bleed through the paper and with the sheet placed upside down on the dash the instructions could be read by looking at the reflection and not having to take your eyes off of the road. Sort of old fashioned head up display!
I suppose nowadays we’re not allowed to do that but it was so handy when I was by myself and my navigator was at home!

Just like to add to the comment made about is the Truma heating fan noisy, we have a 2008 Abbey GTS 418 with the old version of Truma blown heating via the the heater and we do on occasions use the van on our drive. We have the heating on at 500 on the ultraheat dial and the fan speed of 3 and we can 100% say that it cannot be heard and that is at the foot of our fixed nearside bed but it sure keeps us cosy well it did last night. Can't get enough of our caravan either home or away. As for the fixed bed it's a no brainer if your a couple no making up beds when you get in if late at night and I'm 6'1"

Hi Keith & Michele, Enjoy your vlogs, In this video my wife & I are intrigued by the Scenery from your front windows!
We have been both caravaners & Motorhomers for 27 years (back to tugging since 2016) & haven’t come across anything like this.
At first I thought it was the view of an actual campsite however the more I looked it became apparent that it seems to be perhaps a cover or something??
Could you put our minds to rest & let us into your secret scene? Lol 😂

My bed is a slide out type and is 6'1" long, I'm 6'4" so have bought a block of foam the same thickness as the mattress and 3" wide and the same width as the mattress so it drops in at the top of the bed, giving me the right length bed, you do lose some walk around space at the foot of the bed but still doable

Yeah when you view empty caravans it doesn't give you clues and tips how you can improve your life whilst using it the most easy efficient way, maybe keeping things in plastic baskets & trays in drawers and cupboards helps you remove and store your belongings, emphasis on plastic where possible because its lightweight.

On the subject of keys.... we have 2 sets of key. Each set has 2 section connected with a small spring clip. Section 1 is the the main caravan keys - door - locker etc. Section 2 is all the security keys - wheel clamp - hitch look etc. When set up, each of the section 2 sets are placed in the car for safe keeping.

Keith, Michele. Beds on Swifts like ours are 6ft 1inch X 4ft 4inch when in night mode, so should be long enough for a 6ft 1inch person. Hohever would suggest checking out the spec of the bed on line from the manufacturers website befor commiting to buy. Or just lie on it at the dealership, they wont mind !!!!!

If you are joining the motorway please do not forget the one's that are on it have still got the right of way , So if you can not get up to speed or there is no room for you to join you are the one that has to stop , So please don't keep coming on to the motor way or try to make others move over from lane one to lane two because they don't have to by law .

Just to point out, the advice on the sliproad is slightly incorrect - you CANNOT and MUST NOT pull onto the motorway unless it is clear to do so - the end of a Slip Road is a YEILD, it's not an automatic right of way. Adjust speed to match the speed of the motorway, and look for a suitable gap - DONT anticipate that people will move for you, many wont.

Hi Lew, It would take too long to list everything here but The Caravan & Motorhome Club have an article on “Thinking of buying a second-hand caravan?” which is very useful & covers most things. Hope this helps, thanks for watching, Keith & Michele.

Hi Lucy, Holidays in general have not been an option recently, obviously due to the pandemic but we do, at times, have a holiday with family abroad. Sending our best wishes to you, Keith & Michele.
