Meanwhile here in Spain, Marc Gasol is ready to play for Girona Basket in the 2nd National division, the same team he owns and runs as president, which is crazy. He's trying to get the team back in the ACB League before retiring. What a pair of legends.

Pau's 2006 season is so underrated. He was playing on one of the three slowest teams ever (when you actually account for opponents possessions) and he was producing KG numbers. He was the ugly game version of Jokic where everyone moved around him and he'd deliver from the low post over and over again. The play style of the team was just not as flashy because hubie, despite being great, was still kinda old school in that aspect . He made the all star team on a grizzlies team not even the people in Memphis cared about (if you liked basketball, you watched the tigers)
As for him not being a bruiser, he had no center for most of his career there. TD or KG tended to have a center that would help them with the dirty work but Pau's best line ups on the team didn't have that. You're gonna look soft when you have to play as the point power forward on one end while having a brick defending you and then go to defend the other's best player on the other end

When the Lakers had Dwight Howard for a season, and when D'antonni started running PNR with Pau as the screener instead of Dwight, they had the most unstoppable play I've ever seen. Pau would set a screen and move to the pick and pop spot-the guard would pass the ball to Pau- if the defender stayed at home on Dwight, Pau would knock down the 18 footer-if Dwight's defender came out to challenge the shot, Pau would throw a lob to Dwight.

36 y/o Pau demolished a French team full of NBA talents, including Tony Parker in his prime, Gobert, Fournier, Batum, Diaw, De Colo, Gelabale... he did it *in France*, with 40 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks and completely dominating both in the paint and from three. The final against Lithuania was almost a parade. The semi was the real final. That was one of the most impactful individual performances in international basketball ever. Every basketball fan should go see that whole match replayed on youtube.

Pau got bullied by KG in from start to 08 then starting from 09 and onwards, it was Pau bullying KG. It was Evident that Pau is no longer intimidated by KG, he packs that extra muscle and changed his mentality.

We're Not sure if Marc Gasól is going to The Euroleague in Barcelona Yet, he First Trying out the Golden State Warriors, I think 🤔, least that what Two Reports said, we will see if he gets a Roster Spot in the 2nd Week of October or Less, but One thing is for Certain, is that "Marc' Gasól's Days in the NBA are Numbered!" Now!"

Ah...Kobe would have had six rings if Pau was able to rebound in the 08 championship series against Celtics, every defensive possession, Celtics challenged Kobe and Odom (Lakers best rebounders in my opinion) to be shot blockers and left Pau to rebound, it worked wonders for them...Pau pretty much lost 99.99% of the rebounding battle against KG, Perkins, and Big Baby.
Thanks Marc, without his contribution, Raptors perhaps would not have won the ship....and will always be best remembered as Embiid's daddy...Embiid, multiple time all star player put up 0 points against raptors and had the pundits made jokes about him for one week. Now Marc is returning to Spain, I can imagine Embiid is the happiest centre in the league

The trade was a bad one for Memphis, but it ended up working out for them. That still doesn't excuse it, though. It was like trading your car for a stack of lotto scratchers, but since one ticket was a winner you justify the trade as being smart because the outcome was good. Memphis had all this leverage over the Lakers, and in return for their young, All-Star PF they got a handful of veterans on the way out of the league and no lotto picks. None of the vets the Lakers traded were in their top 10 rotation. That's why the trade got panned so badly, because nobody trades away All-Stars in their prime without getting tangible value. The Lakers gave up two first-rounders, but they were going to be low first-rounders because the Lakers were contending for titles. You simply don't trade an All-Star for three veterans who don't get meaningful minutes (Javaris Crittenton, Aaron McKie, Kwame Brown) on their old team, two low-first round picks, and a second-rounder (Marc Gasol). The Lakers make that trade every day, but no other team but Memphis at that time would accept that offer.
