You are on the right path. I think you might face a lot of challenges to finding out fresher level job in DevOps but I would say, try to find cloud engineer jobs and read the JD if they are using AWS, then only apply and gain some experience then switch to devOps

Choose backend development if you are interested in the dev side. DevOps job started after the developer wrote a code and then we built that code, tested and deployed in the env.

You can search the keywords like CI/CD, kubernetes, docker, Terraform and with the similar jobs title you can apply and your experience will be count 100%
Yup, now it is hard to get remote jobs specially in devOps even sometimes I have to visit the office whenever I have a client meeting but my manager is very good!
