That "word salad" is precisely what I think Cenk was getting at at 21:45. It's this cognitive dissonance some liberals have where their real motivation is picking a candidate who "looks like them" or checks an identity box, but they try to post hoc rationalize their choice with a more noble and logical sounding reason. See: all the "progressives" who latched onto HRC against Bernie in 2016 and came up with 8000 flimsy reasons other than just admit "it's more important for me to see a woman in the WH than get progressive policies."

In 2020, nobody - and I mean _Nobody,_ liked Biden. Its a very peculiar world Cenkkovites live in, but its not the real world. In the real *American* world, American voters don't vote for candidates they "like," American voters vote _Against_ the candidate they are told to dislike, to demonstrate allegiance to the tribe they have been told they belong to. Here, VP Harris is part of a sub-tribe. In the event Biden drops out, and she is not the default candidate, the entirety of the sub-tribe - 14% of the electorate - will not vote at all. Good luck with that.

I agree with Cenk that Harris has zero popularity with young voters and likely would not even be as progressive as Biden.
I agree with Francesca and Jordan that if they try to put anyone else on the ticket that is not Harris, the fundraising will be problematic and the fracturing of the Biden Harris legacy will cause too much division to eek out a win. They will lose the older voters that like Harris' devotion to Biden and establishment friendly politics. They will lose a few African American voters too.

Undoubtedly there will be some. The younger ones who were on the fence about Biden might not think she is progressive (spoiler alert: she isn't). Some older voters will be less likely to vote for her because she doesn't exude leadership qualities. They may be (rightly) concerned about her ability to keep Putin, Xi, and Un under control.
Overall she is a weak choice but I still agree with Cenk. A weak shaky choice is better than someone who almost certainly can't win. Biden can't win.
I also agree with AOC that slipping in some relatively unknown candidate would likely fail too, not enough funding, and the party would be too fractured. Too many voters would perceive it as a hostile takeover of an administration that they liked. Unfortunately.

I get what Francesca is saying, people who dont realize the primary was rigged are actually saying " I casted my ballot, are they just going to throw out my vote?" But as someone whos ballot choices were Biden or no preference I am already pissed because I knew before then Biden couldnt win so I agree with Cenk they should choose the strongest candidate. Someone who voters may actually be excited to vote for.
The pundits who are whining about the "But what about the 14 million who voted in the primary for Biden?" are ingnoring the fact that most of them didn't even have a viable option to vote against him and most people at the time didn't realize how far off a cliff he fell from aging so fast cuz they kept it hidden from us. I voted for him in the primary cuz there was no other real option. So let's say only half are really "I love Biden!!" primary votes. That's only 7 million votes. The general election a Dem needs 80 million. Those 7 million are also probably "blue no matter who" voters. Does anyone really think the few people who actually vote in the Dem primary are gonna not vote in the general as a protest or actually vote for Trump? No, they 100% will vote for the Dem against Trump anyway, it's a dumb argument these pundits keep bringing up.

The "it's hard, we can't change from Biden" point because of the money or voters loyal to Biden, or whatever excuse are easily disproven. If Biden were to pass away today, the Dems would run another candidate, they wouldn't let Trump run unopposed. They would find a way to replace him. The RNC Does the same thing. Primaries are not legally binding elections. Well, the laws are different in every state, so I'm not positive, but primary elections are not like the general election. Delegates to the convention choose the nominee. It's hilarious that you think this is a "Democrat Party" thing.
