I really like the way your so layed back and patient with all the work you do on cars and trucks… my pleasure is watching the videos and learning something
Great video. I just discovered your channel and let me tell you I subscribed right away and I love your accent. Very informative and to the point. Keep them coming.
Thanks for a very detailed video every time even though I do a lot of maintenance on my 2010 double cab 4.0 liter truck I still learn a lot from you keep up the great work my friend 👍
No Petah you are not dumb!! You gave us the privilege of excitement to watch some amazing engine show. You knew in your mind this would happen but you wanted us to enjoy it. Maybe you did not think so but I think you know so.
I haven't watched to completion.... but my 98 4runner periodically has white smoke after long runs at 80 mph and a fresh oil change. I only notice the issue after slowing down to get fuel.... its accompanied by knock at the time, too. This issue has been persistent for 15 years and over 150k miles. Edit: hmmm... I don't think I'd be able to run 150K with a leak like that. But I'll use your techniques for diagnosis. Well done, sir.
Thanks you for you Video. I have a 91 Mazda P/U 4 Cyl. Auto Trans, with 277K miles, White smoke. I will check further from your tips. Thanks again. Good Video.
I agree that no power tools should be used to remove spark plugs, only use a 3/8 ratchet as too much force can strip the threads out of the cylinder head. Also only try to remove the spark plugs when the engine is cold.
I have to say , I consider you the Mr. Rogers of auto mechanics Lol.. .. and for the problem with the vehicle , I thought it was a fuel issue like a stuck open injector etc... but I was wrong..thanks for the informative video...
My Tundra was burning a 1/4 of oil a day. I used an oil additive called Motion Plus. The same day I changed the oil and added this additive the smoke and burning oil went away this was over 4 years ago and the truck is still running great and does not burn oil anymore.
I know im randomly asking but does any of you know of a way to log back into an instagram account? I stupidly forgot my password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Reginald Rey I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out now. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Great video and diagnostic inspection! I’m sorry about your brand new camera...keep up with the great work! IMO if I was the customer....it’s time for a brand New Toyota truck 😊
That is what happened with my moms 1996 Toyota t100 . The radiator cracked . So I replaced the radiator, went to start it up , and it started smoking . Checked oil for water in it and no sign. Tomorrow I’m going to check the spark plugs. Thanks for this video.
I have the same problem with my truck recently. Oil and coolant are all normal color and the cap had normal color when I took the caps to look at them.
Great video, thanks for posting. Do you have a video on removing stuck or hard to remove spark plugs on the Toyota 3.4 V6? I need to change mine, but they are quite tight, and I don’t want to force it! Anyhow, great vid. Sorry about your camera...
That’s one of best engines ever made on planet earth! Had a 2001 Toyota 4Runner! But you can tell this truck was not treated well by the hood heat pad! 😓
I have an MR2 that has been burning oil, we got a code to replace the O2 sensor, then after a white O2 Sensor codes said cylinder 1 and 4 spark plugs looked sluggish my some replaced them- don’t think he adjusted the spark plug gap. Then for some reason he broke up the pre-cat up and cleaned it up. After replacing car started over heating- he then replaced the thermostat and then now it’s getting a little white smoke and water and a little black what looks like dirt on the ground. He says it is losing power when he shifts to 3rd gear. So some light white smoke and loss of power into 3rd gear. Any thoughts- is this a blown head gasket?
Hello, can you tell me please why our 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser 120 diesel exhales white smoke only when driving in reverse ? All old fluids and filters were normal and changed, does not have white smoke in any forward gears (1-6)... Thank you.
So my 2013 Pruis V had the same issue, didn't find any trace of coolant, but some how still had white misty smoking, it wasn't clouds. I did exactly what's in the video and didn't find any coolant on the sparkplugs, even when I started the engine without the plugs, I didn't see anything shootout the holes. Kinda strange I do have p0010, p0102, p0108, p0113 and U0100, but the car runs and idles normal, coolant hasn't dropped or looks contaminated, the engine was recently rebuilt and just got it to start, but now I have this I need to address
Our old back-up car ('92 SC400) now has noticeable (but not billowing) white smoke from the tailpipe when the heater core is used, but not otherwise. Do you know why that might be happening only when the heater is used? (We can go forever without using the heater, if necessary!). Thanks! Love your videos. We have seven Toyota/Lexus vehicles in the extended family now (the newest is a '12 Avalon) so all of your work here is very valuable to us.
Beauty. Mind listing all your Toyotas? The Lx SC400 could by powers of deduction mean coolant is leaking into the crankcase somehow. Maybe when it goes into the heater core, it goes somewhere and returns where there is a leak. Look for a check engine light and see if you can read it. However Toyota seems to make the threshold high for the codes to trip. I would watch your coolant levels and see if they change, and it should not. If it does you have a good indicator. But do not take my advice, this is just a point into the direction to look first. You release all liability by taking the advice and you ultimately choose what to do. However I am just saying keep up with maintenance. See if a coolant spill and fill service would be necessary. Red/pink Toyo Asian coolant is good for 5 years. Green Prestone is just two. Never know, maybe there is a clog that is preventing something from going the right way. Good luck!
@@LAactor Thanks for the advice. The problem occurred a few times and never again. Now that cooler temps are coming I'll be looking for the signs again. Might be some condensation pooling that burns off. Weird. Extended family now drives: '12 Avalon '11 Yaris '10 Corolla '08 RAV4 '06 RX330 '00 Tundra '92 SC400 plus a diabolical '08 Odyssey Wife wants a newish Lexus LS. I told her when I have two months go by with no maintenance (emergency or otherwise) on our extended family fleet, I'll consider it!
When the coolant is leaking into Cylinder 3 like this Tacoma does that ruin the rings on the piston or damage the engine while this problem with the head gasket is happening...how long can an engine run with with this condition and not ruin the piston #3 or the rings on this piston?
My sons BMW had the same problem ,At times it had hydraulic lock and also the header tank was bubbling up from cold start,I told him it has a cracked cylinder head,,We pulled all the spark plugs out,,then used a rolled out paper towel over all straight 6 cylinders,,Cranked the engine ,shure enough it was number 3 cyl,,removed the head, found a crack on the number 3 exhaust valve,,All started with a leaking water pump,My son stopped at a fuel station and poured cold water into the header tank,,In Western Australia that is a big no no,as the cold water on a hot cyl head quickly contracts creating a crack,,3ooo dollars later all was good..Lesson of the story ,,Water pump to cracked cyl head.
Thank you so much for this video! I learnt just learnt how to make a engine squirt ;) Anyways, in my case i had oil on plug 2 in my 4 cylinder. Anyone knows what that could be?
My dad's Landcruiser 200 series diesel not that old with 50,000 miles on it was blowing more smoke than this and is was BLUE and thick too. The next hill there was less and then we kept driving and it went away. This had never been a problem but my dad changed the exhaust to a expensive stainless steel system the it started doing it. I've never seen a car blow out so much smoke in my life, let alone blue smoke. It smoked out the entire freeway climb and people had to slow up and change lanes.
Hello Sir my car Hyundai Elantra model 2010, which I noticed that the smoke came from the exhaust and quickly ran out of engine oil, almost 2 weeks after I refilled again, and that I noticed quickly on gasoline
Thank you for the video. So very informative. I used to help my Dad work on cars in the driveway. This really brought back memories.
Another great video. Thanks so much for taking the time to teach us. You have the heart of a teacher.
Thank you, Sensei. A fan in Houston, TX, USA.

Wow thank you so much and now I will know when I see white smoke coming out of my exhaust
Thank you for your hard work and your wisdom I really learn a lot from your videos
Wonderful video. Thank you for your patience and detail. I had condensation on #1 coil once. Thankfully, it was only a bad coil. Ran very rough.
Any smoke like this tho?

Excellent video and capture of the coolant spitting out of cylinder 3.
Thank you for this educational channel. Paul, Kenya.
Yes, it was quite entertaining! Thank you so much.
Thanks for an excellent video. I wish your shop was closer. I think you would be overwhelmed with customers!

I respect you and thanks for the videos. Keep safe.
Best tutorals that I have ever seen on youtube. Thanks
C'mon
Great video. When I was in technician school, we had a mini-van that shot coolant clear up the wall about 8 feet.
wow ! thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing your video. Awesome video and diagnosis.
knocked it out of the park with this one! thanks :)
Great video... Makes sense now... Same engine as mine here in Australia, though I'm sure that spark plug setup looks different... WIll check...
I have a 13 taco and really like your videos

great video but also notice the hood insulation looks like its about to fall off and possibly start a engine fire
Awesome video

Most likely a blown head gasket . Espero of it starts rough . Same with mine
This Toyota was announcing the new Pope. A Miracle!!
amazing video
Thanks for sharing this video, interesting video.
You are great. nice video
Very good video! That is exactly a good technician should do on jobs.
Thanks, my pt cruiser just started smoking like that.
Awesome Thank you

Very interesting!!!!
you are the number one of this week 2 me
Great video, thanks for posting.
Do you have a video on removing stuck or hard to remove spark plugs on the Toyota 3.4 V6? I need to change mine, but they are quite tight, and I don’t want to force it! Anyhow, great vid. Sorry about your camera...
Great video. What would a job like that run at your shop? I'm having the same issue currently.
I really dig your videos man! Where is your shop located?
Pretty common on those V6's , from memory I think they fret on one side of the block.
It was great thank's.
My 95 has hubs does that truck have hubs I would love to put those on my truck! Love your videos
That’s one of best engines ever made on planet earth! Had a 2001 Toyota 4Runner! But you can tell this truck was not treated well by the hood heat pad! 😓
That 3.4 was good for that. Call the dealership, some serial numbers were recalled.
Really? I know this video is old my 99 4runner has a very light smoke and it stinks bad. Thank you so much
The leave in head gasket sealer does work under right conditions but it will also destroy the water pump within 20,000 miles. Just a FYI
I have an MR2 that has been burning oil, we got a code to replace the O2 sensor, then after a white O2 Sensor codes said cylinder 1 and 4 spark plugs looked sluggish my some replaced them- don’t think he adjusted the spark plug gap. Getting a small puff of white smoke upon startup that clears quickly. Tacoma 2022 used with only 10k miles. Normal? Water vapor?

Is it possible to bend a rod because coolant leaks into the cylinder between starts?
When the coolant is leaking into Cylinder 3 like this Tacoma does that ruin the rings on the piston or damage the engine while this problem with the head gasket is happening...how long can an engine run with with this condition and not ruin the piston #3 or the rings on this piston?

Best buy has good warranty on those cameras
I have something similar but I have circuit open on an injector in a Saab 9-3 i went from gray smoke to blue ..
So what was the diagnosis?
Thank you so much for this video! I learnt just learnt how to make a engine squirt ;) Anyways, in my case i had oil on plug 2 in my 4 cylinder. Anyone knows what that could be?
Interesting
So what is it to fix to stop the problem
On the bright side, now your camera won't freeze......
what repair manual books u hav back there??
What state are you in, I’d love to have u work on my 97 taco
I have a 2004 tacoma 4x4, i have oil on my spark plug, what would cause this
I have same exact problem. What is it the issue?

I'm having tbe same problem with my bmw 530i. I was told that I have a bad catalyst converter and it causing the white smoke.
