Before the fire burns you to the bones I remember You made me who I might become [Chorus] Oh, papa, I know You were fighting To live your life your way Wherever you are I hope you're playing [Verse 2] My mother knеw That she had a choice to leavе or make Start living life Or becoming the wasted face [?] She didn't know how to sign a check Or even tip Her god is real, and it guides her through Her life sublime so blind [Pre-Chorus] Oh, she made it And now she's the best, this kinda woman And for all these years I couldn't tell her how proud I've become [Chorus] Oh, mama, I know You were fighting I know you're not afraid 'Cause everything I am now Worth the wait [Verse 3] I'm losing you from my mind As I grow older too Your memories are the only piece The place I own, these songs I sing Are the only way to make you listen [Pre-Chorus] Oh, I miss you And everything we did and had to do Can we hear you? Or maybe see a sign that says hello? [Chorus] Oh, papa, I know We were drowning Now we're on our way [Post-Chorus] Through everything we lost Your ship has sailed
As beautiful as it gets! I've heard him reference his mother multiple times before (the album covers for Sinema and Climax; the section about buying a place for his ma in "Shit I'm Dreaming", and the whole of "Remain in Me" for parents in general), but never heard such a direct reference to his dad before. My parents are getting old and this left me teary-eyed. :')

ART FOR REDEMPTION PCRC made an anthem for people to grieve and reminisce the golden time with their parents. You made me cry, again and again and again and all I can say is thank you. This will be engraved in history.
Suryakant's songs "Remain in Me" and "Suddenly" are intimately connected, reflecting the complexities of his childhood experiences through shared themes of nostalgia, family bonds, and personal growth. While "Remain in Me" evokes a sense of warmth and appreciation for the guidance and love of his parents during his formative years, "Suddenly" addresses the profound grief following his father's passing, capturing the emotional transition from cherished memories to navigating loss. Together, they highlight the resilience that emerges from adversity, with his mother’s transformation from uncertainty to strength serving as a powerful narrative of overcoming challenges. The contrasting tones-hopeful reflection in "Remain in Me" and poignant sorrow in "Suddenly"-create a nuanced exploration of familial ties, illustrating how the foundational love of his parents shaped his identity. Ultimately, these songs form a rich tapestry of Suryakant's childhood, resonating deeply with anyone who has experienced the duality of love and loss.

She didn't know how to sign a check
Or even tip
Her god is real, and it guides her through
Her life sublime so blind

And now she's the best, this kinda woman
And for all these years
I couldn't tell her how proud I've become

Oh, mama, I know
You were fighting
I know you're not afraid
'Cause everything I am now
Worth the wait

I'm losing you from my mind
As I grow older too
Your memories are the only piece
The place I own, these songs I sing
Are the only way to make you listen

Oh, I miss you
And everything we did and had to do
Can we hear you?
Or maybe see a sign that says hello?
