Inexpensive SD card reader Vs. USB-C hub card readers: One is much faster

  • If you use UHS-II SD cards, you'll find that readers in nearly all USB-C hubs are MUCH slower than even a good inexpensive UHS-II SD card reader. Even if you have to use a hub, it's still faster to use a separate reader with the hub rather than the hub's built-in UHS-I slot. I tell you the SD best card I've come across - and it's very affordable.

    thank you for this real comparison of readers. It would be also interesting to measure, when you are transferring to an external drive, the difference of speed between connecting the drive to the hub and transferring from the card reader in the hub, as opposed to having a dedicated card reader and the drive connected to the computer and transferring between them. I suppose transferring within the hub will slow the process, even if it is something we tend to do.
