If Link lands on a Lily pad he will grunt, push himself up, and shake his head. No damage either. Apparently ramming into the lily pad face first from 2000 feet up doesn't matter because the impact was taken by the water and stem of said plant.
To be honest it was the complete opposite for me. I was so excited I was just trying to find a way out of the starting spot to the point where I ran straight past the archaic legwear. I was half naked until I finally got the snow boots near one of the shrines.😂😂😂

I was always hoping that link would bellyflop on the ground like he does when you skydive in LoZ Skyward Sword, that’s always been my favorite thing to make me laugh
Oh man. Every time. I was getting really worried that it isn't even in this game, especially when leaving for the surface still doesn't involve the paraglider!
Am I the only one who easily found all armor pieces on the Great Sky Island just while exploring? I found the archaic tunic and legwear and the snow pants too.
Did anyone else try to cross the cogs in the room of awakening? The ones you’re supposed to use Rewind on that lead to the fourth shrine? I spent a good thirty minutes trying to sequence break that without knowing it would be a sequence break
That would be and awesome question for the devs and Aonuma San... "Why whouldn´t the arcaic tunic be in the chamber of awakening?" I mean in BoTW the shirt and pants were at the resurrection shrine...
Zonai device falling off: I hate building things in TotK and only do it when it's needed. On the sky island the only thing I built outside of the shrines was a raft to get somewhere. For the korok duo I just glued the korok to the hook and we both went traveling like that. Falling off: I somehow never managed to do that. Tunic: My guide book told me the exact location where the tunic was, so I knew it was nowhere near me.
OMG I also spent around 30 Minutes searching for the Archaic Tunic which wasn't in that cave 😭 (but the big jump after finally leaving the cave was the best reward ever and the greatest moment of the game for me 💙)
Funny thing about the archaic tunic: In my first playthrough, I never actually found it. I literally spent my first several hours (days) of the game with no shirts at all in my inventory. In fact, the first shirt that I found was actually the Yiga armor when I happened upon the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab.
I kind of forgot that link needed a shirt so I didn't question it until I was falling off the platform to go to the rest of the island and I realised hey where's my shirt. Now I collect all the shirts to make up for it.
During that first dive I wanted to see if fall damage existed so I landed on a lilly pad. Turns out you can land on those freely (I think?) And it still does the superhero landing
I watched every trailer and everything, but i still forgot the fact that the shirt even existed 💀 I found it while getting bubbul gems 50 hours of playthrough later. still got the leg wear though
In the early days (after not playing BOTW in over 2 years) I was constantly diving head first into the ground, and dying, when I meant to deploy the paraglider. I blame that one on the game encouraging you to dive so much in the opening sequences. This caused the dive to be programmed in for a time like muscle memory.
And also, mid game, after finishing the plateau, I went the opposite direction to rediscover the great plateau and then explored the game for like 50 hours without stepping in lookout landing once, and yeah, going down in this game is extremely hard without the paraglider
If you fall victim to your items falling just use rewind, it stops time so you can get it and unlike your other Abilities rewind works at any distance.
On a recent playthrough, I went out of my way to get the Archaic Tunic as fast as possible. You just need to get the sheikah switch to disperse the void out zone around the garden of time and bingo, free to grab the tunic
I didn't fall off even once before I was supposed to. I also figured the tunic would be somewhere intuitive later on. The Great Sky Island is patterned almost exactly off of the same structure and progression as the Great Plateau.
i never got the archaic tunic, it wasn't easily presented and i never even thought about it. I never dropped anything important off the side that I couldn't recall though, so that was good

The tunic is just in the most random, stupid place. But at least it is sort of on the natural path you take around the Great Sky Islands so it's hard to miss.
I actually did a lot of the beginning part of the game with only the Archaic tunic because that was what I found first and I didn’t realize that there was more to the set🤷🏻♀️
No lie. I got to the big dive point after the room of awakening, the big title screen moment, and immediately ran backwards through the thing looking for the tunic. Lol. I was convinced I missed it.
The lack of the legwear at the start was even worse for me because when I first started botw I completely missed the starting clothes so I was worried I had done that again.
I didn't find the Archaic Tunic when I was still on the great sky island, so I only got Link a shirt a few hours after getting out of the intro... all the way over at Hateno Village.
