    Love this album. It takes a while to get used to, but it's rhythmically their best. The live version is even better!

    I can’t take any Feral slander. It’s a high D for me. I just love it’s ambience and atmosphere (+ the vocal effects)

    About the first track, Bloom, there's a version of the song where the band collaborated with Hans Zimmer. The song was used at the opening of 'Blue Planet II' documentary

    Thanks for your honestly with your review. some youtuber just say oh i love so much all what i hear just to not have too much hate. i'm not very surprised about this review because that not the most loved album. What is great is all people have different taste and i have hear some people saying that album is the best.

    Lmao I had a very similar reaction to feral on my first few listens, didn’t even sound like music to me. Eventually it won me over though, banger track now. Also like others have mentioned, live from the basement of this album is a must watch. The in rainbows live from the basement is even better, definitely check them out sometime

    it’s definitely regarded as one of their weaker albums - the band themselves called it a transition album… its more of an interesting experiment than anything else i think,

  • @jaum571

    I kinda have an "ambivalente" opinion on this album. The first 4 tracks are basically "that sounds weird but its ok" (I think it's almost like "music for musicians" in therms of the complexity) and the last four are just amazing (specially lotus flower and codex).

    • @raythepretentiousnerd
      @raythepretentiousnerd Год назад +3

      I think Little By Little is criminally underrated. That song is amazing I love the guitars, the country / western atmosphere, Thoms vocals. They sound amazing. I think it’s their most underrated song

      @@raythepretentiousnerd I'm actually from Brazil so the "baião" (genre from the northeast of Brazil) vibe from the song really gets me, its an extremely well done rhythm. The only problem is the repetition.

    You gotta check Thom Yorke’s dance moves in the music video for Lotus Flower. His natural dancing style really finishes the song for me.

    I think you responded like 90% of even super fans did on this album - those tracks 2-4 - I didn't get excited for. Some good news for you..."King of Limbs: From the Basement" - it brings all of these songs to life and sounds wayyy better than the studio. PLUS, why, I'll never know - aside from maybe "Lotus Flower" which I expect you'll like more and more, they left off 2 songs (that they include in that concert) they released separately as a single which are phenomenal ("Daily Mail" and "Staircase")...if they'd added those and taken off 1 or 2 of the others and made those B-Sides instead, this whole album would be considered much higher. It grows slowly over time, and it is the band doing as they did throughout all their albums, refusing to copy themselves and trying something new (rhythm as the driving concept over traditional song structure in this case and sometimes that may work and sometimes not). But I always respect that even when it has thrown me way off- even Feral, they wanted to play with noise and weird patterns and don't care if it makes everyone happy, that freedom to choose how they create is how the achieved such amazing heights but can also open the door to some songs which just don't seem to measure up, like a couple of "Hail to the Thief" and "Amnesiac". But again, Basement concert - will definitely enhance your view of the album and the next album coming, it doesn't hit like the big 4 if you will, but is just more of a luscious music scape and has plenty of great tunes, so it'll be a good time. After that, there is a TON more. They have so many B-Sides, GOOD songs, some VERY good songs, like 100ish (the OK Computer B-Side album was so good it got nominated for a Grammy) that are better than most bands best work, plus so much live stuff, unreleased treasures only found live, stripped back acoustic performances of some of their best soaring songs, legendary live shows, multiple solo and side projects - this journey will have been well worth it. Then you can wait with baited breath with the rest of us for album 10(LP10), which is probably 75/25 gonna happen, but if so, not for another year or 2 or 3.

    This album is so weird for me. I'm not a big fan of the first half but I think the second half is one of the best "4 songs in a row" on any Radiohead album.

    When this came out I hated it so much because I just wanted another In Rainbows... Lately I go back to it just to chill and vibe to the music... and I really enjoy it now that I take it for what it was supposed to be.
    BTW your impression of Feral's lyrics cracked me up :D

  • @dsaith991

    This album is the shortest from the band, focused on exploring the rhythm, the live version from the basement, is much better produced than the original album, plus it adds two other songs that perfectly complement the album, the daily mail and staircase, songs that if they had been there from the beginning would have raised the level of this album even higher. Perhaps the best way to describe this album is "rushed", it needed more time to be ready but they rushed the release and that's how it came out.

    A Moon Shaped Pool is in a different league imo. Absolutely beautiful album!
