Yes, as being a perfectionist, I feel that I've taken life too seriously. Meaning in most cases, I'm afraid to joke around or keep jokes inside as I'm constantly afraid of offending others or breaking this strict moral code. I've been trying to break through this by allowing myself to express my sense of humor and to stop worrying about always being right and everyone liking me. Of course, there are things we shouldn't joke about and jokes taken too far, but I'm at the far end of the spectrum where I constantly filter my humor and I don't think it's healthy. I think this partly comes from being raised by a narcissistic mother who could not take any jokes whatsoever and would go into a rage if a joke offended her.

Very common Paul - one thing you can do is set yourself some exposures / shame attacks of going out in public and making some jokes to strangers you typically wouldn’t.

Nick, this video in my opinion is the best video you’ve done on the channel so far! Really appreciate how open you were with your amazing but sad story at the beginning

Thanks Neyton! I am glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, he has some great points but unfortunately extremely rigid in his guilt related beliefs.

It's either me catastrophizing or being numb and I'm slowly starting to feel better. Can you please explain why this is?

Hey Tate - As OCD sufferers we tend to jump to extremes. "I am recovering" vs "My life is over". OCD loves to jump back and forth between these two extremes.
