    Exactly what you say. I wear my vibrams daily. Not running fast at all. Then when i start introducing a bit of midsole cushion im a machine. Still slow. But my legs are stronger and my technique is bang on

      That's awesome mate! I love feeling the contrast between different shoes and feeling like a machine 😁 good stuff!

    for what it's worth I have 700km in my LP7s and they're still going strong with zero holes or tears, where 500-600 of that was hiking (so a lot of time spent in them with more steps compared to if that distance had been covered running)

      Cheers mate, yeah it seems that people have mixed results with shoes a lot of the time so it's good to know that the LP7 can still hold up strong in some instances. I guess hiking would increase the longevity of the shoe vs hard trail running but yeah you're right, at the same time you're performing a lot more steps for the distance covered when hiking compared to running so that's a good sign! I appreciate the comment, all the info we can share always helps 👍

    Ordered the LP 8 half size down, compared to my LP 7 at a 12 size, feels to roomy in the foot bed!

      @jasparvowden  3 месяца назад

      That's interesting! Have you measured the insoles of the two shoes?

      @@jasparvowden 115mm in the 11.5 size LP 8, and 116mm in the size 12 LP 7, that was the outer sole, and the insoles are about the same at 101 mm!

      Thanks mate, that's good to know! It's a bit of a shame that the sizing isn't consistent

    Like comparing apples with oranges … the Vibram is a minimalist barefoot shoe, the Altra isn’t.

    • @jasparvowden
      @jasparvowden  3 месяца назад +1

      And Altra incorporates some elements to their shoes that are closer to a minimalist shoe compared to traditional running shoes such as wide toe box and zero drop, hence the video comparison

      @@jasparvowden that’s true but the stack height difference is massive, opposite ends of the spectrum. The only commonality is they’re both zero drop. A bit like comparing a surgical glove with an insulated mitten, each have their purpose.

      I really don't understand your comments, I'm just comparing two different trail running shoes it's not that deep lol
