I also have one of these IGBT ARC welder, but its packed with setting and colorscreen. It weighs 950g but its packed with settings you can adjust, and goes through numerous che3cllists and cal-info when starting up. Do you know what these things meen and where they could be handy. * "Hot start" percentage 1 to 10% (?) * Force (?) * FRequency 1 to 99HZ (not sure what the purpose is here for the setting, is it merely intended for the enduser to decide 50 or 60Hz, and can you benefit by adjusting it to a higher freq, wonder why it gives adjustablelity from 1 to 99Hz.) * Valley (?) * VRD (Looks to be a safety, to not risk electrocute people, so it will only give very low voltage until certain criteria are met when ) * CP or CC (that seems to be Alkaline rods vs Acid rods, and how the pulsing is maintained You can see it here.. ruclips.net/video/j3ApUD9zS9w/видео.html It seems quite advanced, and it goes through numerous check & cal values when starting up, and makes report for each. This unit is for 230v , but its kind of small and weighs only 950g, though it didn't came with casing or any accessory, only groundcable.. not sure what the model weight in your vid, as you don't mention it.?
Ah Yes, I purchased a similar unit 'Digital Display Smart ...' While it came with a 120v 15a plug, all it could do was scratch and spark but never pull an arc. the doc suggested AC180v=240v welding machine system.. Have not tried changing plugs and using my 8k 220v generator.
The AC draw in a standard house outlet shouldn't exceed 20 amps, so 12 gauge will be fine. If you're looking at a longer run, 10 gauge may be better to reduce voltage drop. I' sure the official answer is don't use extension cords.
Any idea how to contact the manufacturer? I received a welder with a defective power switch, and my attempts to contact the manufacturer have gone unanswered. Or, anyone have recommendation for suitable replacement switch?
These type welders look interesting but I would be worried in overhead position due to the air vents at the very front. Good demonstration man.

What gauge extension cord would be advised for a hand held unit that can go up to 120amps ?

Stick welder is what it exactly is. It sticks trying to arc it. Would I buy it. Yes any welder could troubleshoot little issues
