  • Having each comfortably accounted for Great Britain, New Zealand and Australia met in the Tri-Nations rugby league final of 1999 at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland. The Kiwis had held onto a narrow lead to win the opening game of the series but came into the final with one crucial absentee: Stacey Jones, who had broken his arm in New Zealand’s match against Tonga. These tests between kiwis and kangaroos in the late 90's were better than state of origin. The speed and intensity was off the planet. Rugby league, the greatest game of all.

What was with the big steel plated guard wrapped around their forearms? Please tell me they have broken arms and that pad is the best way to keep playing with it.
    Looks tough as :)
I know it’s not steel but she looks deadly

      Suppose to break Ausee jaws.
But them Kiwis didn't do the job, the bastards.
Should learn from Monty Betham and Kevin Tamati, true NZ warriors.

@Ray Okeefe 2 of my all-time favorite players here in the UK. Had the brothers been based down under playing in the NRL instead of the super league they would have played more time for kiwis.

@@cumbrianmackem9296 No doubt about that Mate,When we did have them, they caused all sorts of chaos amongst the Aussies defence that's for sure,Even making the big tackles Lil Robbie had to stop Keith Senior who was over the tryline one time,Robbie prevented the try by holding the big fella up.Got penalized I think for tackling him mid air.

@@rayokeefe715 unbelievably talented players who played fullback, halfback and hooker for kiwis and could create a break or a try out of nothing. Both were match winners for sure and the game is poorer without them both at club and international level.

Australians gets away with illegal play.
    Kiwis are beaten by thoughtlessness.
They don't test the referee like Australians do.
