I had chills up my spine when I read that one of the roommates opened her door and the masked man passed her while she froze in fear and he did nothing. He just walked past her and left. She had no idea what he had done. That is so scary.
But if you saw a masked man.. why wait until 1148am to call the police. So she went back in her room and went to bed? She didnt even call family? Makes no sense.
The story with the roommate doesn't make sense. She found the courage to open her bedroom door 3 times in a row but couldn't dial 911? And strangely, it is not mentioned in this report that she heard the victims screaming only talking. Something does not make sense.
Yeah, great job not giving a description of the killer to the public! Its not like the killer could have struck again! THE KIILLER WALKED PAST HER SO I DONT WANNA HEAR THAT THEY DIDNT WANNA TIP THE KILLER OFF! Great job M.P.D!
After hearing this, we now know not all the victims were asleep when attacked. Can't even begin to (and don't want to) imagine the terror and horror they went through. And, that he said "it's ok I'm going to help you" as one victim is crying...chilling! So Sick & Evil !!!!

@@ar1535 Well, if a person is in his/her right mind and makes these kinds of choices then I agree with you. They CAN in fact be caused by evil. Evil has been with us since Adam and Eve when the serpent tempted Eve. This is where the free will that God gave all of us comes into play. But if the mind is diseased biologically through no fault of the person, then its the illness and NOT evil. I speak of diseases like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder and the like. These diseases CAN cause self harm as you said. But it can also lead people to harm others as well. This is why we commit people who are mentally ill to hospitals. If they are a danger to themselves OR OTHERS. I think we shall find out within the coming year which it is with this young man.
They are around and with a little intuition, you can avoid them. Never insult them or confront them as they are sensitive towards what people think of them. They feel, they are smarter and better than everyone else. Best to let them believe it. The parents of these guys have enabled, a lot of their behavior. Psychopaths are not born, but made. This is what old psych books say, but I think we have since , discovered the mysteries of DNA, so maybe it is a little of both. We have to navigate around them but never get their personal attention.

@@Charmer4856 I don’t think we will get one until trial. The most mysterious part of this is the surviving roommate. You hear noise, you see a man, and you lock yourself in your room and DON’T call 911? For six hours? Then you wake, gather a few friends and finally call and report a roommate who is not responding? THIS DOESN’T make sense at all.
This didnt happen on the bad side of Chicago but a small college town with little crime. Why would she immediately think the worst? Especially if she's used to people coming in and out of her party house?
the roommate said she stood in a “frozen, shocked phase” when she saw the man in the house. so not calling 911 cannot be chalked up to her thinking he was just some random visitor. it literally doesn’t make sense to not call 911 at all.
What I find weird is why ignore a witness? Why did he just leave, unless he knew the one she killed and went with the intentions of only killing them. There must be a backstory there if that’s the case
No, you could be scared/shocked seeing someone in your house and STILL think they were your roommates visitor tho. Tbh I'm pretty sure that's exactly what happened
It makes sense. This is going to be 5AM, when your roommates have seemingly been awake - had people over and partying all night. It’s hard to connect the dots that someone is breaking in and trying to kill someone vs a creepy friend of a friend leaving a house
She said earlier that she didn't hear or see anything. She then changed her story claiming that she saw a figure with "bushy" eyebrows in the dark, leaving the house. 😂
@@internetcensure5849 I thought I was going mad! When I first heard about this story, I could have sworn that the two survivors claimed the heard nothing but I couldn't find the footage where I heard that so thank's for confirming someone else heard that too

@@adorebells its pretty bad negligence to the situation tho. yeah its not her fault because no one asks for a killer to visit their house, but she messed up and you cant be "shocked" forever and ignore something right in your face.

Wait, one of the surviving roommates heard crying and heard someone say I’m going to help you, but did not call the police? And then after he walked by her still no call to the police? 😮
You have to understand, in a sorority house when 4 people come home after you go to bed. You know all your roommates have been out and then you see a strange guy walk out, you're going to assume the person must've come home w one of your roommates and is now leaving. She'd been out partying and drinking too so she probably just thought someone came over. When she'd heard the crying she went out to see and heard a guy saying, It's okay,I'm going to help you so she probably thought her roommate was upset and had a friend consoling them already and went back to lay down. I don't think she had any idea anything terrible had happened until she got up the next morning and probably went to go ask what the drama had been the night before and came across the horror. Then, she realized what she'd heard and seen the night before was far worse than anything she imagined. There hasn't been a homicide there in 7 yrs so I'm sure loud noise, shrieks, furniture getting bumped, girls crying, unknown guys leaving late are all fairly normal occurances in an off campus sorority house on a weekend night.
Thank you for your wise words! Exactly my thoughts! You dont jump to the most unprobable conclusion when you witness such things but you just naturally brush it off as normal drinking night events and dont think anything of it. My neighbours flat got broken into and i was home all the time and never did i hear anything out of the ordinary or did i notice something because you just dont expect this kind of an event to happen, and especially you dont expect to witness a homicide.
I should think a person getting stabbed to death let’s put a unique primal scream.. there was one murder case where people a few houses over heard the screaming.. women scream during danger as a natural reaction.. the entire thing seems extremely suspect to me.. she just went back to bed? I don’t buy it. You’d have to bear something that sounded unique but just an argument with a boyfriend.
@@jonathantaylor6926 a This is strange, why when the killer stabbed them on the second floor, why didn't the two girls on the third floor hear them and call the police?
@jonathantaylor6926 neighbors security cam only picked up a single brief shriek and 1 thump. Noone was shrieking horrific shrieks to be heard. He was mostly ambushing ppl post drinking as they fell asleep in their beds. If he was silencing them quickly or holding pillows over faces or something then there wouldn't be primal screaming being heard by anyone. The roommate said she thought thr commotion was Kaylee playing w her dog the thumping and bumping etc. I think maybe you're visualizing the average teen slasher film scene and not the stealth attacks on sleeping people that primarily occurred. He killed all 4 and was out of there in only a few minutes.
The roommate heard someone crying, opened the door and saw a man walking towards her long enough that she was able to see his full eyebrows, the suspect then just walks by her (why would you kill 4 people and just let an eye witness who saw you live?) and out the back door and she just went back to her room and locked the door, didn’t call 911 or her other roommate’s to see if they also saw something, fell back asleep until the next day and called friends before the cops?….. WHAT???!!!! Non of that makes any sense to me!
@@patricesankara3081 since when? I thought that was confirmed? Not saying you are wrong but everyone has reported they were found hours later when the 911 call was made
It’s so easy to say what you or I would or wouldn’t do in that situation. The truth is none of us know how we would react unless we lived it. Honestly I don’t think it’s that odd that she saw him and didn’t call 911. You have to remember these are young college kids in a party house where people are constantly coming and going at all hours. She could have thought one of her roommates had brought a guy home. She also could have been drunk still, in shock and terrified, or completely oblivious to what had happened. Most of us aren’t going to jump and call 911 when you hear your roommate crying. The survivors are victims in this as well. This will literally impact and haunt them for the rest of their lives. No one is blaming them as much as they are probably blaming themselves. Lay off.
Convenient you leave out the part about a masked man walking around you house complimented by someone crying. Maybe you wouldn’t call the police if you were smoking crack
This is why law and crime network is the best true crime, channel out there. So many other true crime channels just focus on the scary stuff, but this channel actually focuses on the legal aspect of it and the police work. It always amazes me how these police go from getting a call about an incident to finding out who did it and getting them charged and hopefully convicted.
I have so many questions. How did the surviving roommate get from upstairs to downstairs bedroom without seeing evidence of a crime? Were the doors of the other rooms left open/unlocked? Why was there not a 911 call until noon? Why was it reported as an unconscious person? Why did they call others over first?
She was actually sleeping on the second floor (same as X and E) so she heard everything better and looked out her door to see the guy and he left thru the sliding like glass doors in kitchen so it makes sense
LE probably made that up to keep the other roommate’s safe. The suspect was on the loose so they didn’t want him to know he was seen. That would make the remaining roommates a target!!
Why didn’t that person who saw him leave go and check on her friend??? She heard her crying, even opened the door a couple times because she heard noise. And then they didn’t call 911 until late morning??? Something doesn’t make sense here.

I am not an attorney or a law enforcement professional, but I question the wisdom in releasing to the public, too many details. I hope doing this does not provide an avenue to cause problems in jury selection, etc. A prospective juror will be asked how much he or she knows about the case, and prior knowledge of evidence may cause problems in convicting him. @@KT-nt8ks No, seems like just a drive by, the cell records have him back at the King rd house for about 10 minutes. Maybe wondering why the murders weren't all over the news knowing he left an eyewitness alive
It's crazy to see how careless a killer, going for a PHD in criminology, could be. His cell phone records indicate that he had been to king road "at least 12 times" within 3 months prior to the murders. That he left his DNA and a witness behind. I'm almost curious if he wanted to get caught. Or, if adrenaline and arrogance blinded him. This was premeditated. He saw an opportunity and took it. How scary is it to think that there are people out there who, literally, drive around looking for an easy opportunity to kill. Unfortunately and sadly, it's not the first time something like this has happened and it won't be the last. Don't be too trusting of your surroundings and invest in security cameras for your homes. I've also noticed people are really focused and questioning why the roommate didn't act to call 911 right away. Everyone processes fear differently and it's usually in an illogical manner. Fear can make people react with irrational behavior. So, I can understand how she could have backed away into her room, and likely, hid under her sheets until she fell asleep. She was petrified. Some people don't spring into fight or flight, they back away.
Ok so here's my thoughts, might sound crazy but you never know. If he is a narcissist and has a grandiose type of personality, no doubt then he wanted to get caught for notoriety. So, with that being said, could he have possibly known how to leave evidence behind and take certain avenues that he could easily argue in court and try to get reasonable doubt? That way he's not convicted and everyone knows who he is. Maybe? Lol

I’ll be waiting for more details to come out that could possibly provide an explanation because, right now, I just can’t make any sense of it. However, considering there have been so many twists and turns in the investigation, we may find out even MORE shocking information that could provide an explanation to this… at this point, it may not even be surprising, because EVERYTHING about this case is totally bizarre. Edit: after thinking about it for a while, I have to believe that Dylan heard and saw something but was probably in denial and convinced herself it was nothing, possibly thinking she’s freaking out for no reason. She may have had a burst of adrenaline and hyper awareness momentarily, resulting in a sudden crash shortly thereafter (sleeping the rest of the night). The last thing you’d expect is that a murder was occurring down the hall. Even if it seemed a little weird, she probably didn’t think it was weird enough to justify causing a commotion by having police coming in and waking up the whole house. Also, most of the things people are expecting from Dylan are very possibly the things that got Xana and Ethan killed. We should be thankful that she’s alive to tell the story and we’re not looking at 5 murder victims. This is the only fair way to look at it. No matter what she did or didn’t do that night, she is going to be traumatized and guilt ridden for the rest of her life, and we’re not helping by raking her over the coals. I wish for healing for everyone affected by this tragedy.
We've been primed to expect reality to play out in a plain, linear, and simple fashion. That's often not the case. There's all sorts of reasons she didn't act as expected. One theory is that she isn't recalling the encounter exactly as it played out. Her account to police came after she learned her roommates were killed. In hindsight, it was probably much scarier and dramatic than it seemed at the time. If evidence implicates her, We'll find out.
Maybe because it’s a college town they assumed it was a weird prank by a fellow student or some guy they were hanging out with? I highly doubt they had any idea the gravity of the situation or else she wouldn’t have opened her door so many times. It’s hard to know what one might do in a situation like this. We don’t know until we experience it.
@K Noelle She almost allowed her friend's murderer to get away with it. Someone's in your house? Call 911. That is common sense ESPECIALLY when you're scared. She needs to move back in with mommy and daddy because she's not mature enough still.
I’m a very understanding person when it comes to shock and trauma but I still don’t understand not calling or texting someone if you saw what she saw. I’d be texting whoever else to call 911 if I was afraid of the intruder hearing me. I’d be texting roommates. Howso? This is a really weak case. What evidence puts him in the house at the time of the murders? What evidence links him directly to the murders? To the victims? Prosecution is going to have an extremely tough time convicting him, even though I believe he IS the man that murdered them. The only "damning" evidence is still totally circumstantial. Baffling that nothing that there was ZERO action taken from said roommate until midday. Why?! Welp hes done for. I dont care what the surviving roommates had to say. Nobody can predict that THIS would happen. Hindsight is 20/20 and Im sure the roommates feel bad enough. My gosh the way she describes the man walking toward her and he just walks right past. She is so lucky to be alive. "LUCKY TO BE ALIVE" is the only thing anyone should comment about the roommates.
I'm so glad to see this comment as there are far too many people passing judgment on the surviving roommates which seems completely unfair, especially as we only have so much info right now. No one knows what state she was in or how her brain reacted to the traumatising situation as we know very well from research and even other similar situations that sometimes the brain just shuts down in response to trauma to protect the individual; there are even multiple homicide cases in which an individual has been shot/hit/other in the head and are bleeding out and yet they just walk around and/or go through their daily routine as if nothing has happened because their brain responded to the trauma by going on autopilot to protect them so they don't even know to call the cops or seek medical attention even though they are dying so who knows, her brain may have responded by automatically going back to bed. No one knows how they themselves would react in a situation like that so it's completely unfair to judge these poor roommates who will already suffer with enough survivor's guilt esp., when there's so much unknown right now

It's not that small of a town. Especially with the college there. There is 25,000 residents plus the students who aren't in that number. So there's that
Just speculation on my part, but to all the people wondering why Bryan did not kill the witness; there have been countless murders where an individual was spared because the killer gets satisfaction knowing that the survivor is living in terror. He probably enjoyed the idea of the survivor spending the rest of her life with PTSD. A lot of killers like to have witnesses and know that they are leaving fear behind because they can feed off of it as they relish in their accomplishment. But if the mind is diseased biologically through no fault of the person, then its the illness and NOT evil. I speak of diseases like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder and the like. These diseases CAN cause self harm as you said. But it can also lead people to harm others as well.

@@MG-ot2yr thanks for the reply. What is your take on the roommates?
@@KT-nt8ks Have no idea, that's so bizarre.
Maybe? Lol
@@momma1239 I think the fact that he turned his phone off between the time he left his campus, committed the murders and returned home is evidence that he thought he was being cautious enough to get away with it. It's crazy to understand how he didn't see that as an issue with his plans. All around a sloppy job by him. They have very incriminating evidence against him on this 19 page affidavit.
This is the only fair way to look at it. one of the roommates hears crying and “someones here”, then hears a male say “its okay, im going to help you”, sees the man walk past, and then instead of going to check on her friends, she goes to bed and falls asleep for 6 hours and then wakes up, calls a bunch of friends before the police? its so suspicious
And she heard that but did nit hear the screams when he stabbed them ? Yeah right.
the dog barking like crazy while shes like yeah my friends will be okay i need some sleep! this is crazy for someone to hear it and see but still wont call 911
Drunk
@@mmaranta785 Sounds like maybe they were drunk and just shrugged the situation off and went back to sleep. If still inebriated judgment would have been severely impaired.
He is so screwed at this point in time!! Whether you find the knife or not doesnt matter anymore. What a sick guy!!! My god. God bless the victims. May they rest in peace. This is so tragic.
The DNA on that sheath he could claim he had a knife like that, but it was stolen a couple weeks prior to the murders. Now NOTHING directly links him.
@@brandoncooke6564 dna from the car and most probably and likely from his things like computer. It was a gruesome murder even if he had cleaned the car therell be bits and traces of the victims dna on it. Forensic experts are good at that.
I've got to hand it to investigators and the prosecutor for doing a great job in this case. Just when I thought they were never going to find the guy, they come up with a water-tight case. Bravo
The idea that someone in the house saw him is not shocking... the idea that someone saw him in that house and didn't call 911 until HOURS later is shocking..
Hello
Shell Shock.
its easy to say what you would do when you weren't there. When you are actually there in the moment your mind goes crazy
The doors to this house could not have been locked
Good chance that at 3am the witness, being a college girl, was intoxicated. It’s also a party house with people coming and going so she might not have been sure if this was a prank or something.
Wait. So someone was crying and alive when she saw him leaving? That's so disturbing.
This whole thing is really strange so far.
It is indeed … but maybe it’s also we haven’t be told the whole scene rather than a piece of puzzle here and there !!
@@recuerdos2457 Or purposefuly had some misinformation leaked to make the perp feel like he wasnt going to get caught and act in a sloppy fashion, helping the police out.

The roommate saw the murderer walk OUT their house, and she did and said nothing, till noon, 8 hours later ? Roomies are involved.
Yeah doesn’t add up!!
Things like this happen all the time, where the subconscious mind tries to come up with reasons not to overreact or call police. We always tend to blame it on boyfriends and girlfriends arguing or being in denial if we hear a noise. So we end up not calling police or checking what the noise was, etc. Thats most likely what happened.
Listen if my room mate bring over a man I wouldn’t question it and give them privacy.
Also if she was drinking/drunk, you can’t expect someone to make rational decisions. I think DM was drunk, shocked, scared and didn’t think this was a murder…especially if Moscow was a “safe town”
Also plausible she left her phone somewhere outside of her room
And I know when I’ve been drinking and am up till 4am, I don’t wake up till noon at the earliest
Wait so if one of the roommates physically saw an intruder why didn’t she bother calling police???? Why wait until midday the following day to do anything???
I understand her not knowing that her roommates were just brutally killed but at the very least you’d think she’d call police right away to report a break in or an intruder.
Baffling that nothing that there was ZERO action taken from said roommate until midday. Why?!
What if one or multiple of the victims were still alive and had a slim chance of survival had help/paramedics been called ASAP not 8 hours after the fact!!!! What if one or some of them were still alive and bled out all because she failed to call.
I’m not trying victim shame her but I just can’t help but think “what if.” As we all know, in a life or death situation, every minute counts.
two words- party house.
@@FloraDubya I understand the party house concept but they said that she froze in fear as the he walked by her so clearly she knew something was wrong and that it was not a friendly acquaintance. Idk. I’m just saying it’s bizarre. This whole case has really been something else since the beginning.
Thank goodness he’s been arrested and the families will be able to get a little bit of justice. May God bless them.
Not only that.. there was whimpering and the dog was constantly barking during the crime as well. (Security camera recording from a close neighbor caught this) How did she not understand that something bad was happening and not call the cops??

Welp hes done for. I dont care what the surviving roommates had to say. Nobody can predict that THIS would happen. Hindsight is 20/20 and Im sure the roommates feel bad enough. They had nothing to do with what Bryan Kohberger did that night. They were just innocent bystanders just like the victims were. Im so glad there were 2 survivors. My gosh the way she describes the man walking toward her and he just walks right past. She is so lucky to be alive.
"LUCKY TO BE ALIVE" is the only thing anyone should comment about the roommates.
Yes she is lucky but a coward. 911 under those facts not called?

Yeah, it's strange to think the roommate didn't call 911 for a long time, but she had no information and didn't know if she was next. She probably was just waiting in silence for the next 5 or 6 hours too scared to move.
It is also unclear whether or not he even saw her. I cannot believe LE releases such information that has surely led to much speculation.
These young people are practically surgically connected to their phone. After the initial shock wore off there is no logical reason that the police were not called until 8 hours later. Just plain lack of awareness and common sense logic.
