- I found an Indian-inspired drink called Chai Tea Latte in America. Was it anything like authentic chai (चाय)in India? I found out!
Basic chai recipe:
Ingredients
1 mug of whole milk (or, ideally, buffalo milk)
2 tsp sugar
1.5 tsp black tea (Tata Tea Gold for an Indian flavour or Tapal Danedar for a Pakistani flavour)
2 or 3 crushed green cardamon pods (grind 'em into a powder for max flavour)
Recipe
1. Add all ingredients to a pot and slowly bring to a boil. Steep it 3-4 times. The colour should be a rich brown.
2. Strain into your mug.
Pro-tip: Pour from a height to get those creamy air bubbles on top.
Chai is a type of tea that originated in India. It typically consists of black tea brewed with a mixture of aromatic Indian spices and herbs, such as cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, ginger, and black pepper. Chai is often prepared with milk and sweetened with sugar or honey, giving it a rich, creamy, and flavourful profile. It can be served hot or cold and is popular not only in India but also in many other parts of the world, often enjoyed as a soothing and comforting beverage.

Tea without ginger is incomplete!!! Try adding crushed whole ginger (not powder) and then see the flavour go 100 to 200😁
Here we just make Chai with milk tea powder and sometimes cardamom just plain and simple
I'm headed to my local Indian restaurant today and I'm having pukka chai!!!❤ 😋 🇮🇳
Tapaal, tapaal danedaar chai ❤😊
I know some folks chuckle when they hear "Chai Tea," "Chutney Sauce," and "Naan Bread." But hey, it's cool because it helps people from other countries learn Hindi words! It's popularising the words.

No ! I was literally thinking that lol but now you cleared the doubts .
Yes🙏 you are 100% right 👍😊... maybe they will understand some time's after (tubelights😅)... Don't worry about it 👍... (Sorry for wrong english but cause english is not my 1st language so😅🙏)
Your most welcome at my Motherland🙏...
Yes but why the efffing efff is there a latte added to this monstrosity? It’s three lies in one
🕷👱:Yeahhh but CHAI IS TEA DO I ASK YOU FOR SOME COFFEE COFFEE WITH SOME CREAM CREAM
Are you the chaiwala at home? I am. I find brewing it therapeutic. Plus it feels good to serve others.

It's funny cos when I have a Turkish coffee in NZ, it tastes authentic but indian chai is butchered everywhere 😂
I make Turkish coffee for the family. Even if I’m making 4 cups, all of them have that froth on top. Do you turn your cup upside down after drinking and then turn it clockwise 3 times and leave it for about 5 minutes. Then try and read the Turkish coffee that’s left around the inside. Although we don’t believe it we do it for fun and sometimes you can make out pictures or scenes around the inside. It’s very interesting. But if anyone tells you they can tell your future from it, well that’s a load of codswallop lol
I love to serve others, especially food, but I try not to force feed like they do in the village in Cyprus. They think you want more if you clear you plate, whereas we think it would be rude not to. Believe me, always leave some on your plate if you know you can’t eat another plateful, the ladle will be full and your plate will be too and then it will be rude not to try to eat at least some of it. I love different cultures. Apart from ones that force women to hide away, I don’t think that’s fair but it’s their way of life and who am I to interfere in it. It is just my opinion.
I am the chaiwala at my home...😂 ❤❤
Usa: who Tf drinks Tea.
Uk & IN : we do 🤝
I buy tea at a tea shoppe here in the states. Black teas have the most flavor then when you add ingredients it takes on a different level
The South: we do! *adds two cups of sugar and ice*
As American. Tea over coffee anyday and everyday.
I don’t know what dumbass told you that, but a lot of folks in the USA drink tea.
Love coffee, but tea soothes my soul 🩵
Right!!! A lot of american coffee shops make this mistake. Ive only had real chai in indian restaurants or make it myself. Nice try famous coffee shop!
tbf Indian Butchers Pizza , Burger and many other foods too.
Most American pizzas and burgers are already perversions of the original Italian and German recipes, so I'd say "Panner Tikka Pizza" and "McAloo Tikki" is fair game.
@@anandchaudhary1675 agree
@@Baronnax that’s true. And if there was a video about that, I’d say the same thing you are saying. But this one was about chai, so I chose to comment about chai.
This is not a mistake, this is strategy to defame tea.
What's your chai making tip? Mine, pour from a height to get those creamy air bubbles on top.

After making masala chai and getting the creamy bubbles, I add a little doodh ki malai on it. I find it tasty 🥹
They can copy the chai looks but can never copy the real taste. ❤
True Chai lover❤ ✨
Because they are wrong from the start water is most basic ingredient get milk but you can never forget water
@@silvermix5093yeah the same way in India , restaurant or street cart vendor butcher many foods like Pasta, Pizza , etc or even Dosa gets butchered.
@@anandchaudhary1675🗿
Same lie how india copies toilets, but still shit in the streets
I think places like Starbucks just use the word "Chai" to make it sound exotic & therefore charge a shed load of money.
Shed?
I agree with this. There is a bakery in my area called the sparrow bakery where most of the items are English and french and then they offer chai 🤔. Part of me wants to order it to critique it because if you are going to use the hindi word for tea then the tea better be the Indian version of tea, otherwise you get to just call it tea. But I haven't ordered it because I'm certain I'm going to be disappointed and have a meltdown over my own ability to make good decisions.
@iz8633 I'm not saying they won't taste good, but rather not live up to my expectation of the particular way something like traditional Indian chai masala is made. With whole spices of cardamom, clove, ginger, cinnamon, pepper, tea leaves with sugar and cream. It is brewed in a particular manner so that it is deliciously aeromatic, sweet creamy as well as slightly frothy. So I'm not saying that they can't make a good chai, but a true chai masala is very distinct and leads to high expectations that are easy to let down.
Bro is becoming more and more fluent in Hindi by every passing day.
What's next, 'coffee coffee' with room for 'cream cream'?

When I lived in the States I didn't like the tea there. However, it was a very different story with the coffee. Loved it... Never had coffee as good as in the States anywhere else in the world. Besides, I like drip coffee just black or with half and half and can't get that in most places outside the States, unless you make your own.
That's because its imported from Mexico and Colombia, the coffee EXPERTS .
USA 5ucks
Isn’t “chai tea” just “chai chai”?😄
Reading that hurts my brain. I'm going for a burger burger.
It's also Tea tea then (titty)💀
Definitely might have heard that name in Train.
I think calling it chai tea still makes sense because you associate chai in English with a certain type of tea, so if you say chai it means a particular kind of tea. Not all teas are chai.
More like tea tea
Idean spiderman:what did you just say
Indian*
Oh sorry about that
@@RobertoLeiva-vi1bs its okay
Mmm chai latte
Best Tea in the world you drink in Sri Lanka ( Ex Ceylon) in Nuwaraeliya mountains. Fine Ceylon Tea is coming from hill area of Nuwaraeliya where the misty and cold mountains are covered with tea plantations.
Will make that rn
"I found a drink in the US called chai tea" is flipping hilarious as an American because it's literally everywhere 😂 No disrespect at all! But it sounds as funny as "I found a drink in the US called coffee."
I do love that you call it out as a syrup! Although there are some small, non-commercialized coffee shops that do brew their own. It's a shame because you do have to ask.
Even coffee taste different in India because they brew it and taste amazing, compared to the west , they say that it's burnt if it's beyond a certain temperature but I like the Indian way
Only coffee I like is sweet milky indian coffee
at this point he is just a certified indian citizen
In Australia it is a powder. Like 3 in 1 coffee. With tea , milk n sugar in 1 packet
Those are actually better than this haha! At least they tend have some flavour.
Where I live they make a chai latte that I thought it was spectacular and then I travelled and when I returned, I try it and it tastes like milk with cinnamon and lots of sugar, I’ve never been so disappointed in my entire life! 😢
❤❤❤
Its hard finding an authentic indian man who makes chai in city 😊
Need to show this to the wife asap! She’ll be in for a shock haha! Thanks for the recipe! Sounds like a challenge though getting Indian and Pakistani tea in the UK 🤔
Would these be available in Asian supermarkets UK people?
Believe me, the Indian masala chai is so easy to make, you just have keep the right proportions and boil the tea properly. You can look authentic masala chai recipe on Indian YT channels.
But put some more spices than just cardamom. At least add some cloves, star anise and cinnamon
Got some time off work soon. Definitely going to experiment and attempt my masala chai. Recently tried instant masala chai,I doubt it’s not even in the same league as the real McCoy brewing your own.
I agree with you! 😁
Insult of masala chai and That" bakwas" Just sum it up😂
My chair comprises, 2 parts black tea, 1 part green tea, cardamom pods, cinnamon quills, cloves, anise, sometimes black pepper, let it sit, drink black
Tip : never drink tea in america
Except sweet tea. American does it best.
or coffee
@@space_4736 isn't that just tea with sugar?
@@7chickenthen what will they drink
@@sowhat... no, also lemon and sometimes honey
Love you carl from India
Karl bhaiya apka hindi bahut acha 😅
‘Ye bhi bakwas’ is a desi review! 😂😂😂
That's right Karl ❤
That’s why I make my chai at home, cause I found a recipe with blue butterfly tea leaves and nothings come close to ass good as that tea is
Last night I made a HUGE pot of Noon Chai, its from Pakistan, it means Salt Tea, it's so good.
Very true Bro
That biscuit with chai is so common thing. I'm also one of the people who do not drink chai without biscuit.
Chai literally means tea
So you're saying tea tea
🤦♂️
not all tea are chai, but all chai are tea
Americans will never be able to offer a REAL Chai ☕️.
Just made a tea and watching while drinking i say someone is reading the rong recipe first water second chai Patti any type of sugar," Ginger optional" the last ingredient is milk, first two ingredients are most important in making any any type of tea
Nice sir
I have to make it at home from scratch here in the states. Otherwise I'm not finding it.
Chai haath se accha bana hai 👍🏽
“You’re gonna talk about Naan bread which is the same as saying Bread Bread which is the same as saying Chai Tea”

most of eastern europeans call tea chai.
Ahhhhh I was finally having a good day and it it ruined my whole day .. I am feeling heart attack in my liver after seeing this... But love you bro you make me feel better
It's not strong enough. On another note.. welcome to America ❤
Imagine some person in india without an actual establishment makes better chai than an establishment which is international 😭
You can't call Starbucks Chai actual chai, they water it down unless you tell them not to.
The thing you made was not "Chai". It was "Doodh Patti" . For Chai you gotta add water as well
I often wonder why bad tasting foods with fancy branding cost $$$ while good tasting foods cost just $. 😄
@KarlRock how are rheumatoid arthritis families? Your family in India and your family
In NZ. How tall is your sisters son now. Your
Mum looked so tired during her visit there, I bet you made sure each day was filled with amazing things to do that we didn’t get to see. I hope we see them all again. And of course our wife and in laws and aunties and cousins etc. I hope you will be bringing a new video soon. The last one was awesome. I’ve watched a few travel vloggers but they only show the best bits of India or they take the mick which I find horrible. The only one I found that was from near you in Australia was always clogging but he seems to have stopped, he is still very young and had a bad accident with fireworks. I felt bad for him.
You went to Starbucks bro. What did you expect? Lol 😂😂
It just a tea with the appearance of how the name are.
bruh it's like this in oz and nz as well
Probably would've had better luck at an indian restaurant. Definitely wouldn't expect a coffee shop, especially Starbucks, to have authentic chai, or even chai at all.
Bro made chai without ginger I'll spit it out no joke💀
Get this man a ration and aadhar card
Your first mistake was stepping foot into a Starbucks. All they sell is milk and sugar.
Chai is tea chai tea is like saying H2O water
He talks like a desk..I can feel his pain when he says “array yaar”
😂❤
expensive hotels have wrong recipe even in India
That's milkshake lol 😂
All chai you buy at stores has black tea in it
chai is tea
I have never had that in America, and will never have it
Yoga, naan bread, anything turmeric related. Butter chicken in everything.
Karl you rock❤❤ can’t getter a better ambassador than you in my mind 🎉🎉🎉
Chai is just Chai, no need to add tea since it is tea
I think Karl is possessed by some ghost of an Indian person. He’s become way too Indian 😅😅
Thats why i dont go Starbucks 😂😂
*if indian Spider Man finds about this*
Pavitra pavakar : chai TEA?! Chai means TEA!! YOU ARE saying tEA TEA! Could you like if I say coffee coffee room for cream cream??

My pet peeve Karl Rock😂
Chai have different taste all over india even with same method and ingredients . But tea drinkers identify all of them as chai of different kinds. But that thing is not accepted by any of them
Chai tea 🙂 i got a mini heart sttack
Man, I tried Chai at Starbucks and I almost immediately threw up! One of my friends makes a good chai compared to Starbucks.
The best chai is always from home, 2nd is the street vendor chai walas. ☕️
Sadly American coffee shops make this fake stuff and can’t even get the name right. 😆🤣
I make chai with star annise, clove, cinnamon, cumin, and cardamom, black tea, and milk. It's better than "Chai Latte"
That’s like saying coffee coffee
They just don't know chai. Starbucks added that on the menu just for the sake of it.
Btw, I am sure they charged 5 bucks for that 😅
Pewdie chai
I learned how to make authentic chai from karl. 😂
Nice thnks pewds
Its chai latte basically
Chai Tea Latte=Tea Tea Milk💀
Bang on Target! I had it few times at Starbucks, and its not real chai tea for sure.
Add some ginger too
