Anyways, as usual, I did a bit of research for the animation. Turns out, ASEAN comes from a long line of organisations made to unite south east asia. The following are the predecessors/beginnings of the Association of South East Asian Nation:
- SEATO 1954 (USA, UK, France, Pakistan, New Zealand, Australia, Philippines, Thailand; 3 protected non members were Cambodia, Kingdom of Laos and South Vietnam)
- ASA 1961 (Federation of Malaya (I did redraw the flag!), Thailand, Indonesia)
- Malphindo 1963 (Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia)
ASEAN was founded in 1967^^(or more accurately, formed from ASA) The first five members were Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, and Thailand. Brunei joined in 1984, then Vietnam in 1995. Laos and Myanmar joined in 1997 and finally Cambodia in 1999! Of course, there are 2 observer states, Timor Leste and Papua New Guinea, also in the animation XD.
