Gado is the most syndicated political/editorial cartoonist in East and Central Africa. In 2016 he was sacked from his job at the Kenyan newspaper 'The Daily Nation' for refusing to stop satirising national politicians. Gado was the winner of the 2016 prize of the Swiss Foundation 'Cartooning for Peace'.
