- What’s up with those girls who wear a full face of makeup to the gym? How about those guys who want to be everyone’s personal trainer and help you out on the equipment? The ladies are getting REAL about their biggest gym pet peeves, during this Girl Chat.

I agree with Adrienne, in reference to men who work-out excessively. Being committed to being healthy is one thing; walking around, looking like Larry the Lobster is another. These days, I feel like it's more of a trend to be in the gym all the time; almost as if it's become an obsession. Not necessarily for the purpose of wanting to be healthy, but wanting to look good, vainly. I'm just not attracted to men with huge ass, muscular arms, a chest area that would potentially need a bra, or bulky legs that would literally kill me if I tripped over them.

i have social anxiety so i'm really uncomfortable whenever i go to the gym becasue theres alot of people and they all check eachother out .. but i push myself and i go 4-5 days every week!
I have social anxiety too. I hate it and how much it affects me.
Essence Etienne stay strong! social anxiety can really eat you up from within.. im currently on meds and i see a therapist once in a while so its nice to have someone there to help you!

It's ok Loni. You don have to go to the gym to get in a good workout. They have some great DVDs where you can exercise in the comfort of your home!
She isn't going for that either...oh if an when laziness is a form of workout....she'll have that no problem. I wish I was able to workout again...enlarge heart makes it extremely taxing on me. Even walking is something I will go for...I may take forever but Im walking anyway.

My pet peeve at the gym is when someone leaves their towel at a certain machine, but then they are using another machine. Like you don't own anything! This is why my routine gets messed up (although I can switch it around).
There was even a case wherein someone would grab the seat near the weights and puts their bag on that seat, while he goes off and does his thing. Makes me cringe.
And lastly. Those who can't put the weights back after using them.
I move it to another machine.
Marione Padilla ,agreed! it's so rude! people will take every piece of exercise equipment, and are not using any. like,excuse you, let others use the machines. like people who take up the whole sidewalk/street. it's a public thorough fare.this means everyone can use it,not just you.
or women at gyms who are basically totally naked. men do it,too,and it's often the ones who should wear every piece of clothing, go out,and buy more. or people who go crazy on fragrance.

I try to make it to the gym at least 3 times a week. My gym is great with etiquette but sometimes I see sweat puddles on the floor and that actually motivates me in a strange way. Treadmill, Ab Coaster, Biceps, Triceps and some machine that works out my legs. BTW, Loni should be inducted in the 2015 Liars Hall of Fame.
***** Interesting you say that because I noticed the same thing. She needs to realize she doesn't have to be a comedian all the time because it comes off phony sometimes.

+Tony Turner Isn't that unsanitary tho? I've heard many times that gyms can be a haven for all types of germs, if the equipment is not disinfected properly. Anyway, I'm not saying people shouldn't go to the gym. But there are other exercise methods that aren't hard or strenuous.
***** Yes, that's why I use up all the sanitary wipes before I use any of the machines or I wear exercise gloves.
That's why work out at home to avoid all of that. Plus it's annoying to me to see people constantly taking selfies at the gym.

Its just when you are in the zone the last thing you want to do is be distracted by someone talking to you..... NY has nothing to do with it I agree.

New Yorkers have a stigma/stereotype about being rude, stuck up, and not being friendly (even tho it's not true). That's why Adrienne says that a lot.

Lmao Adrienne is hilarious but I feel there's nothing wrong with going to the gym and being committed to it because it requires commitment. I don't think it's a metrosexual thing at all. Some guys AND women love being very healthy and dedicating themselves to fitness.
And a REAL man isn't just the man they're into. Metrosexual men are real men too. Lol they're not any less of a man than the next.
I agree with, tbh in general I hate when people use the "real women" and "real men". So models are not real people? Are they robots?
Andreia Neto same here and I never say that toward anyone because what does that say about any other guy? They're pinning a standard on what a man should be overall and it doesn't work like that. That's like me saying a real woman shouldn't be into sports, smoke or whatever. That's not how it works.
I agree. I go to the gym 6 days a week..and I dont want a partner who is NOT active. The co-pay and the deductible is TOO high. lol... Im not about to be coming home from the gym and my man is on the couch eating Tasty Cakes, heck NO!
you're right. No one should ever take away a guys masculinity and a woman's femininity by saying you're not a real man or woman. There is no criteria on how to be a real man or woman.
there's dudes that go that are committed...I think she's taking about the ones that take gym selfies, that flex in the mirror and pose, that take videos of them lifting and posting...those ones...
I actually appreciate when someone corrects my form because I didn't hurt myself once when I didn't have the right form down so I always welcome it, and omg not every fit guy who is heath and fitness focused is all into themselves... A LOT of them are the ones that are very focused on one woman only AND a HUGE teddy bear...some of them so sweet to the point where I can not handle it.

I actually appreciate when someone approaches me about correcting my form, it's way more embarrassing to continue the work out incorrectly and then going home with an aching back or something. Also when i don't want to be spoken to I just wear headphones.
I get irritated when people are on a machine or using gear and they're on their cellphone! If you're resting ummm 5-10 minutes is a no, rest for 60 seconds and get back to it WORK ... plus I need to use that so please do your sets and bounce be considerate!

I can't stand when people don't know what they're doing at the gym! They can literally ruin their back or knees for life! I never say anything but it's just irritating to see people doing that to themselves...
i always try to help people out, whenever new people start at my local gym and i see them standing by a machine trying to figure out how to use it .. i quickly go over to them and help them out!

Deana Noop actually a few weeks ago a guy was doing this exercise wrong and i corrected him in a polite way and he thanked me and said im new! but you are right some people think they know what they are doing and get offended when you correct them lol

I go to the gym with my cousin and she likes to act like shes some machine expert and is always trying to help me like i dont know what im doing like go away!! like ive been going to the gym before you have ..what make you so profound and educated in working out all of sudden.. i promise you she started going like only 2 months ago.

I have gym etiquette and frequent the gym, but I must say some of the things they mentioned bother me too. Mainly the throwing of weights! I'm too easily startled for that mess LMAO
I wear crop tops because if you put your worst feature on display it makes you work harder.

Topics like these are just always controversial. No one is going to truly understand the lifestyle unless their living in it. Being healthy and working out is a life choice. If you wanna wake up one morning and make a protein shake and count your macros that's your decision. And if you don't then that's your choice as well. But saying that people who decide to be extremely healthy are vain. Is a bit too much. Some people can get a little into themselves but the vast majority do it with commitment. Because all things in life require commitment and consistency to achieve anything.
And the whole grunting in the gym, if you truly work out intensely you need to let out that energy. It's not just weightlifting, it's martial arts as well. Read into it, grunts release tension to improve performance and power.
All in all, I just always felt like people should always research their topics and the lifestyle. Talking in ignorance is not okay for everyone else who will get easily offended.
I agree with most of what you said, but not on the grunting part. Breathing right does just as much as grunting will when lifting weights and it saves everyone else from the pretentious "hey look at me!" sounds they're making. Slamming weights is also unnecessary and even more attention seeking behavior in my opinion. Some guys go to show off and others, like myself, go to get fit and stay that way.

lol thankfully at my gym no one acts like that :D. Everyone actually does pretty well with the etiquette and all. Judgement free,kindness,sportsmanship,etc. I'm not talking about planet fitness. I'm talking about the Recplex in Pleasant prairie WI. One of the most awesome gyms ever!
