Paul did not teach that the flesh is evil, that is Gnosticism. In the book of Romans when Paul writes the flesh and the spirit, he is contrasting the law of Moses and the Law of liberty which is the law of Christ. Being a Pharisee I would suspect he was Jewish. Normally appreciate the Rabbi's perspective, but he's got it wrong about Socrates. First of all, it's very difficult to fully parse out all the differences between Socrates & Plato, because Socrates didn't appear to write anything down, & Plato clearly put his own words into Socrates's mouth over & over again. Second, it's deeply unfair to impose this Gnostic body-hating idea on Socrates, just because of the hemlock thing. The man was 74 years old, being accused by his own city-state because they didn't like his speech, teachings, & most importantly questions. He had opportunities to go into exile, both during & after his so-called trial. Is it so hard to understand why a 74 year old intellectual might prefer a noble death over forced exile from the only home he ever knew, back in ancient Greece? From my reading of established quotes from Socrates, versus the known writings of Plato, you can feel very, very free to levy Gnostic "physical-hating" criticisms onto Plato, but *not* onto Socrates. It's *possible* they might apply to him, but we just don't know, & I think there's evidence against that accusation, so let's not besmearch the name of a long dead person just because it's easy. If we judged Plato by his student, Aristotle, the way we judge Socrates by his student, Plato, we'd be totally getting Plato wrong. The same way, likely a lot of people are totally getting Socrates wrong. Just one example of a known difference between Socrates & Plato: Socrates believed knowledge was the ultimate good, spoke out against the idea of censorship or forbidden knowledge. Jesus' resurrected body could walk through doors, so yes even though he has the holes in his hands, that doesn't mean that his resurrected body is exactly the same as his mortal body was. Plus, the body probably becomes even more glorious in heaven, Jesus after resurrection was more akin to that when we rise for the final judgement, I assume

However, if only you knew the book of Ezekiel, you would understand that messiah builds the next temple (the third one), and he will restore the ancient rituals, including blood sacrifice. Ezekiel describes the new temple in great detail. Ez. 45:22 prophesies the prince messiah: "On that day [Passover] THE PRINCE IS TO PROVIDE A BULL FOR HIMSELF AND FOR ALL THE PEOPLE OF THE LAND. EVERY DAY HE IS TO PROVIDE SEVEN BULLS AND SEVEN RAMS WITHOUT DEFECT AS A BURNT OFFERING TO THE LORD." Note that messiah must not only offer blood sacrifice to atone for the people's sin, but FOR HIS OWN SIN! This means he is just a man priest who MUST offer sacrifice to God in the Temple. Moses was a man of God, but not perfect, and the same goes for the future messiah prophet who will be "like me" (Deut. 18:15). This contradicts the NT epistle to the Hebrews, which claims that Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice, making all future blood sacrifice redundant and a denial of Jesus Christ's once and for all atonement. So, which is right: the book of Ezekiel or the NT? They can't both be right!

3:20 - Reference Isaiah 53 (with all due respect). The perception of a Messiah void of a season of suffering is not correct when viewing the entire scope of what the Tanakh plainly proclaims on the subject. However, I do realize there have been many recent (since the first century) rabbinical interpretation changes to help in dismissing the staggering prophecies seemingly fulfilled in the life of Yeshua. It would do one well to seek the ancient rabbinical interpretations of the Messianic prophesies prior to the first century. Also, on a brief second point; to view Paul's postconversion writings and then proceed to attack him saying that he must not be a Pharisee is to make a fairly obvious foundational error. Paul was writing as a man who no longer held many of the cornerstone beliefs he once held as a first century Pharisee. He believed he was given revelation by Ha Shem that changed his perception, and thus, everything about him. Therefore, of course his writings contradict what one would expect from a first century Pharisee. It doesn't mean his testamony is false, it is rather evidence that he was indeed transformed by the power of God through Christ.
Missed all key points of the Rabbi obviously. You don’t read history. Judaism didn’t lay the Christian egg. And G-d’s covenant with the Jewish people is eternal. Time after time G-d made eternal decrees in the Torah. G-d is not a man nor son of man that he would lie. Jews don’t believe in Christianity simply because we look at the world through the Torah which was given to us. We have an eternal bond which is unbreakable because G-d initiated it all. Someone who claims to have had a personal visit with Jesus doesn’t outweigh a witness given to an entire nation. He was writing as someone who made blatant errors in interpreting the Scripture. Whoever he was, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near him when Judgement comes. Normally appreciate the Rabbi's perspective, but he's got it wrong about Socrates. First of all, it's very difficult to fully parse out all the differences between Socrates & Plato, because Socrates didn't appear to write anything down, & Plato clearly put his own words into Socrates's mouth over & over again. Second, it's deeply unfair to impose this Gnostic body-hating idea on Socrates, just because of the hemlock thing. The man was 74 years old, being accused by his own city-state because they didn't like his speech, teachings, & most importantly questions. He had opportunities to go into exile, both during & after his so-called trial. Is it so hard to understand why a 74 year old intellectual might prefer a noble death over forced exile from the only home he ever knew, back in ancient Greece? Moses was a man of God, but not perfect, and the same goes for the future messiah prophet who will be "like me" (Deut. 18:15).
This contradicts the NT epistle to the Hebrews, which claims that Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice, making all future blood sacrifice redundant and a denial of Jesus Christ's once and for all atonement.

3:20 - Reference Isaiah 53 (with all due respect). The perception of a Messiah void of a season of suffering is not correct when viewing the entire scope of what the Tanakh plainly proclaims on the subject. However, I do realize there have been many recent (since the first century) rabbinical interpretation changes to help in dismissing the staggering prophecies seemingly fulfilled in the life of Yeshua. It would do one well to seek the ancient rabbinical interpretations of the Messianic prophesies prior to the first century.
Also, on a brief second point; to view Paul's postconversion writings and then proceed to attack him saying that he must not be a Pharisee is to make a fairly obvious foundational error. Paul was writing as a man who no longer held many of the cornerstone beliefs he once held as a first century Pharisee. He believed he was given revelation by Ha Shem that changed his perception, and thus, everything about him. Therefore, of course his writings contradict what one would expect from a first century Pharisee. It doesn't mean his testamony is false, it is rather evidence that he was indeed transformed by the power of God through Christ.

@@realitycheck3672 My heart rejoices in the promises of God. That's all. I don't have to prove or show you that I follow Jesus. I am a autistic follower of Jesus. I have my difficulties loving people and to be loved by people but Jesus has shown his love to me that while I am still a sinner, Christ died for me. Many others distanced themselves from me, it reminds me of people disliking Lazarus and casting him out their communities but Jesus loves people like us, I am sure of it. He is the only person I love that has never let me down. I hear my Shepard voice and it is full of love. His promises stand for me, for my life that he will not leave no matter what.
