I picked up BacterAE from you at Aquashella (and a bunch of new shrimp at Aquatic Experience :D) and my shrimp love it. They're all doing really well on it.
Love the concept of this tank, those shrimplets born in there will never know anything but shrimp heaven their whole lives. Somehow that makes me feel satisfied.
I already watched this once before but I just watched it again and it's still wonderful to see. Such a good job you're doing taking care of those babies Rob.
I love seeing this tank. I haven’t started keeping shrimp yet, but I enjoy watching your videos and learning all the best ways to keep and care for them. Once I have space and am confident I can be successful I know I’m going to love it! 😊
Thank you for great information! I'm new to breeding shrimp and just purchased some green Jade shrimp (wanted to bring a color into the fish group that we don't have yet! Mixing it up a bit lol!). Last night I was watching my tanks (I could watch for hours, even the snails are fun to watch!) and I noticed I had berried shrimp in my jade tank, ghost tank and my random what the heck shrimp.... i'm excited! I make "snello" snail and shrimp jello, as a fun treat since I can combine ingredients that I really love, minerals, spirulina, moringa and other good foods for them. I'm definitely going to check out the stuff you showed us... more options for everyone to find food the better! Fun tip for everyone, I was watching another great shrimp channel and he took cinnamon sticks, boiled then used them in his shrimp tanks. I did this and it created great natural looking wood tunnels that the shrimp love! I see them on it constantly. It ranks up there with cholla (choyya, like bok choy), for usefulness. Bonus tip. Cholla holes have different sizes. Stick your suction cups with a tab on them in the holes until you find a snug hole. Remove, add super glue. I do this in two spots on one side then stick to the back of my tank (or bottom if you're bare bottom) there's another dimension too the shrimp world! More cool surfaces the better right? 😊😁 Have a spectacular weekend everyone! Thank you for the shout out for military and the veterans. I served in the Marines years ago and am disabled from that experience. I loved my time in in spite of that lol. Thank you veterans, active, reserve, and families lol. Semper Fi!
Heya, wanted to ask if you can do a video about amano shrimp breeding? Since you are basically the shrimp guru of youtube. It'd be nice to know more about amanos...
Great Video. Wow, this is a massive tank and it looks great. If you have a 50-gallon tank you would feed 10% of this amount; a 10-gallon would be 2%. A lot of shrimp keepers get in trouble by feeding way too much food.
nice video, robert. always appreciate the info. i wonder if you could help me figure out why my baby shrimp are dying off. i have a 5 month old, 3 gallon nano low-tech shrimp-only tank, set up with some small drift wood & Japanese stones (sorry forgot the name), lots of plants, on a 1/2" bed of aquareon substrate and sand. i started the tank with guppies, then 2 month in, switched to all cherry shrimp. some of the first badge of cherries came home already berried; so slowly a second generation of cherries began to appear. i now have about 10 adult and 20 teenage cherries thriving. last month i introduced some berried blue bolt and berried orange females; i immediately started to see some babies swimming around, however they disappeared after a few days. eventually all the mamas became un-berried; but no babies in sight. the same thing happened last week after i put in some berried blue-blots and rilis; i started to see some babies initially, now they're all gone. there're no predators in the tank. in the past some baby shrimp would travel to the back compartment of the tank where the filter is, though not this time. i'm increasing feeding Bacter AE from 1 to 3 times a day, while adults are being fed Shrimp Dinner and Mineral Junkie once a day. here's the water parameters: ph 7.1, kh 4, gh 12, ammonia/nitrite,nitrate 0, tds 260, temp 72-75. sorry for the long message, any
a little confused here, i got the AE powder, it shows 1 measuring spoon for 120L(31 GALLON) daily. NOW, i see you have only dose 1 measuring spoon for 480 gallons tank. base on their instruction, 480 gallons needs 16 measuring spoons daily, isn"t it?
Hi Rob, love watching your videos I got a question for you, what should I feed baby shrimps other than what you showed in this video, cause those are not available around my place
Great vid! I love watching vids about care for the shrimps! Only one question: will you consider shipping to Canada? It’s so hard to watch these talks about products but not been able to get them easily...
Just this morning, I saw two baby shrimp in my shrimp tank :D Presumably there are a lot more hiding around and about the tank, but they are black rili shrimp, and even the adults can be difficult to spot. I only saw the two shrimplets I did because they were on top of a bright green leaf right at the top of the tank. It is a huge relief to me to see the shrimp I had made some babies - it seemed to me the shrimp population in the tank had been in decline, but assuming a fair number of the shrimplets survive, that should help their numbers a lot.
Your shrimps are crazy duude. :D My cherry shrimps don't fight for food at all and also I think I am overfeeding them because I let some sunlight to get in the water so algae can grow. There is a lot of algae right now and I wonder if I should stop feeding them and let them eat algae that grows every day hmmmm....
Quick question. Please respond . When I top Off RO water due to evaporation do I need to re-mineralize it or just leave it plain RO? thought you only add re-mineralized RO if you’re doing a water change ex 5 gals removed and 5 added with RO with minerals. Thanks !
does the food in the video effect the shrimps color? would there be certain foods that would help certain colors pop more? I have had some success doing this with fish, but i wanted to know if there is something you feed your blue bolts to be more blue, or something that makes the cherry shrimp more red. Your expertise is always greatly appreciated!
I know this video is a bit old but any suggestions on whether I should use GG Mineral Junkie or Shrimp King mineral? I have a small 5 gallon tank with Red Cherry, Red Crystal and Amanos. Im very careful about what I feed and the amount since its such a small tank and i dont wanna screw up my water parameters and kill the little fellas. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
I'm planning on setting up a 300 gallon stock tank for a pair of smallmouth and using shrimp and/or crayfish as a supplemental food. I have one 150 gallon tub(thinking of using this for the crayfish, they can get a bit aggressive and the extra space would be vital), two 60 gallon tanks, one 20 gallon, and six 10 gallon tanks for shrimp cultivation. I was hoping you could steer me toward the right species to put in them, color isn't my focus, shrimp that get big quickly and breed profusely are ideal.
Love the 480 updates! Question for you. What is a normal/healthy/good rate for colonies to grow? I started with 7 red cherry shrimp about a year and a half ago and have 2 tanks with about 40 each now. They did enure a rough move too. Is this typical is it slow? I just recently switched over to RO water & remineralizer and started using Bacter AE this week.
Hey Brit! Thanks for the comment. I would say it's typically much faster. With a tank with 40 breeders, they can easily product 600 babies per year that make it to adult hood.
1. can you share how you set up 2. can u give detail water parameter that big beautiful tank 3. you use RO Water or tap water thanks for sharing knowledge, nice video
Man i like all your silly stuff your passion is what sarted me with fish maybe after 10 tanks i sould be mad at you lol but i see how hard you work but you seem like the kinda guy i would like to hang out with
Please tell.me how to get rid of scuds in my tank. They are eating my baby shrimp. I broke down the tank but still couldnt get rid of them. I know I overfed but now I think I need to start lover with a new tank?
Is the rim sufficient for keeping shrimp in the tank? Like the bamboo and amano? Or is there another technique you use? Please update and elaborate on this, finding shrimp of of the tank is so heartbreaking. I have a 20L aqueon with stock lid and my bamboo got out after 5 days =(
I have experience with bamboo and amano yes rim is sufficient for keeping them in. Even things like otos/panda garra/hillstream are in my tank for a long time now. I only have one casualties from panda garra because it was getting bullied by the bigger one. And jump in the middle instead of climbing at the side.
Can someone please help I keep javing my shrimp die and I’m not sure why but I know whenever they die they always look black afterwards. They are bloody Mary’s so they shouldn’t be that color. I think maybe the ammonia levels might be high but it’s only the adults dying. I have had three batches of bandies but i never find dead ones
Very difficult to find a local club that really knows good info on shrimp. Lots of great FB groups that deal with shrimp only. Or spend a lot of time watching Rob's videos he has all the info you need to be successful its really easier than you think!
I started making my own baby food and it works great. What I do is I get some snowflake pellets which are just soy bean hulls...I bloom them in water so they expand. Then I dry it all out again. Run it through a cheap coffee blender until it's a fine powder. Then mix in some tropical fish flakes, some bee pollen and some spirulina powder. Run it all through the coffee grinder to mix it all very well. Ends up with a fine powder that spreads all over the tank which is great for babies. Also if you want cheap snowflake food just buy soy bean hull pellets. Can get 5 pounds on Amazon for $10. Snowflake pellets are the exact same thing.
Your prices r better but u take it right back with the shipping compared to Amazon which is free (prime) & faster. Your videos are good for the novice individuals and good teaching tool.
It's not so much NO water change as knowing the parameters of your water. If everything shows ammonia, nitrates, nitrites all zero or low, your ph is within range, shrimp have their minerals, moss, catulpa leaves or similar and every time you test this tank for a couple months it's steady, then no water change could be an option. Still check the parameters every once in awhile to make sure your beneficial bacteria and your little ecosystem is still within balance. No water changes has to be done only after the tank is balanced. You didn't give much information but if you shared water parameters, shrimp type, is there any other occupants in the tank, what do you feed, what type of water you setup the tank with ... 🤔 i'm sure i'm forgetting something... maybe temp of the tank too... then we could try to help you I think. Good luck! 😊 losing shrimp sucks. I lost one (right after it arrived, i'm guessing shipping just rattled it too much) and I saw my snail carry the body up to a safe hiding spot and he ate the shrimp. I try to balance the tank so it cleans itself... perhaps that happened to you? Do you have snails?
@@JaeElle Thank you replying, the tank is about half years old. It is a 40 gallon breeder tank with Matten Filter, I have some Indian Almond Leaves (most part dissolved), and Cholla Wood. Close-ups on products and shrimp are good but please back up from the camera it's a little too much too close. Definitely enjoy your videos and thank you for posting please don't take it personally
This is obviously a glasgarten sponsored video.. the only thing you really need to increase baby survival is bacterae. This channel used to be great with unbiased helpful tips but now has sponsored videos from glasgarten and brightwell trying to sell people things they probably don't need.
I wish we were sponsored by GlasGarten as I love their products. This was just an updated video of the increasing baby survival rate I did a while ago. The products are just an option. All the other advice in the video doesn't require a purchase. Of course we have to make money to keep our business going so any purchase is hugely appreciated. Thank you for your comment and feedback though!

Close-ups on products and shrimp are good but please back up from the camera it's a little too much too close. Definitely enjoy your videos and thank you for posting please don't take it personally

Rob. We love you. Don't sing. Please.
I saw a scud in there at one point of the video. Idk why they creep me out lol
