If the tree and fruit are symbolic, then the garden is also symbolic. Even the physical serpent was cursed even though the devil was the spirit behind it. I wonder which scripture this preacher is explaining. The bible is very clear. This is unnecessary confusion and controversy. Only people who don't read their bibles will call this profound. This is nothing but profound confusion.

The tree of Knowledge of Good and evil which Adam was not to eat of was a real and literal tree, but it also was a type/symbol of something.
God often communicated in OT using the Material things and actions to tell things to come.
So don’t believe a preacher who says the tree was not real but only a symbol.
1. DISOBEDIENCE(UNBELIEF OF WHAT GOD TOLD HIM) WAS THE SIN
2. The Seed of Disobedience/Unbelief were the words of the Serpent/Devil(Satan)

In Gen3 we saw that Adam ate of that same tree he was told not to eat from.

I don't doubt that there are some powerful truths one can glean from this excerpt. But please just reading Genesis 3 vs 1 shows that the serpent was not symbolic at all. IT WAS MADE BY GOD. Satan as a spirit took over this creature and became the personality behind the serpent speaking.

Please take your time to read everything and be led by the spirit of the lord. We will together see that all what he said are symbolic are not like so. Firstly in Genesis 2:9 the bible says " out of the ground made the Lord every tree pleasant to the sight and good for good; the tree of life in the midst of the garden and the tree of knowledge of good and evil". Which literally means from the soil God made trees to come out from which included the tree of life and that of the knowledge of good and evil which they will eventually eat from. So the tree wasn't symbolic it is real. Secondly let us look at God's warning to Adam not to eat of the fruit amongst all those placed in the garden. In Genesis 3:3 God said to them that they must not eat of the tree in the midst of the garden, neither touch it lest they die. If there was no tree at all will there be a warning to not eat from it ? Don't we think God wouldn't have been making sense if there was no physical tree at all ? Is that symbolic ? If there wasn't a tree that Can be felt and touched, will God warn them not to touch it either ? Indeed the word of God teaches that there was a physical Garden of Eden where a physical trees were placed. Thirdly we see that the conversation between the serpent and the woman necessitate a physical tree to be there. Knowing indeed that the serpent was the devil but it was a real incarnation of the devil as a serpent. It is not symbolic in the sense to describe that Moses was speaking about the cunning nature of Satan. Satan really appeared to her as a serpent and not just symbolise a nature of Satan. If we look at the curse placed upon the serpent from the beginning is it not visible today ? In Genesis 3:1 the bible is very clear about the serpent being a creature by stating its subtile nature. Fourthly In Genesis 3:6 there is an action that is been displayed because everything was physical. It reads "And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasing to the eyes, and a tree to be desired and make one wise. She took of the fruit there of and ate, and also went and gave to his husband and he did also eat". Now let us look at the language of scripture and see that if there was no physical tree, will there it be necessary to tell us how things unfolded ? The bible Said and the woman saw that the tree was good for food, which means she must have Seen the tree and was before it right ? The bible further says it was pleasant to the eyes, which means there was a physical tree to be sighted and could generate emotions. The next action was that she took the tree and ate, showing clearly that this tree was present and physical. Next taking the fruit to the husband to eat means she must be holding something at hand. If she was real then what she held was also real. And the verb eat means there should be something which should be Taken into the mouth. Now let us see what happen after their disobedience. This disobedience is what the bible teaches as sin. In Genesis 3:22-24 God denied Adam from eating from the tree of life after they'd eaten from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. In the clear language of God, he said man has become one like us knowing good and evil. Now if he put forth his hand and taketh from the tree of life he shall live forever. Which means after eating from the physical tree of the knowledge of good and evil man stood a chance to renew himself again and become immortal by taking from the tree of life. That's why it is called the tree of life. God now sent him out of the garden and even placed an Angel to guide the tree of life. If it was not physical will there be a need to protect the tree from Adam ? The bible teaches what led to the fall of man and narrated it as it went. Able Damina is just a revelation of himself. He teaches things according to his knowledge and not the knowledge of the bible by taking a scripture to clear out the more explicit ones. I wish i can one day debate him by God's grace. To further make clearification the bible teaches in 1corinths 15:50-54 that we shall be changed and put on immortality as the Lord Jesus. But some people won't go in the rapture and shall remain mortals. Some of whom will be killed during tribulation while others won't, even after refusing the mark of the beast. Those who were not killed can still be redeemed after his return to rule for thousand years. Since it is not the end women will still continue giving birth and people will be born because marriages have not yet been ended by this time. Which means many people Can still be save by believing in Jesus by then but they have missed the church age. The church will rule and be immortal with him (Jesus). For the reason of those saved afterward the bible teaches in Revelation 22:2 that there will be a tree of life in the New Jerusalem for the healing of the nations. The tree of life serves for immortality. Whoever eats from that tree is renewed just like Adam could have done in the garden of Eden to live forever. It written something similar in Ezekiel 47:12 which says their fruits will serve for food and their leaves for healing. Excuse me for writing too much but it is necessary for clearification.
