Greetings from North Carolina ! Goodness Brenda…Do I remember Bobbie Brooks clothing, bell bottom pants, matching sweaters, long straight hair or a “flip”…nostalgia, wow! Wish we could visit and talk about those days. We didn’t wear pants to school either and everyone for the most part looked clean and neat. You are not kidding when you say our parents were our dress codes. I just had my 76th birthday on Dec 28, so you and I well remember all those trends, in all the eras we’ve lived. I have been a very modest dresser all my life and I am sure my parents were the reason for that. So glad I was and am. PS: can’t wait to try the cake…Happy belated Birthday Banks 🎂!

Hi Brenda! I had a blast with you tonight. I was making a home made sweet bread that I'd never made before and I had to let it rise for an hour, punch it down let it rise again for another 45 min. Then bake it for 35 min and my goodness it is the best bread ever. While waiting for it to rise I washed my hair, got all the dishes washed and put away and was answering you all along the way like "yes I am as blind as you" (more so probably) and I definitely remember being 15 and a very good driver. I was So happy to have you beside me cooking your cake and my bread knowing both our houses must smell heavenly. I am a ginger freak, love ginger, spices and the sweet potatoes and like your Banks's, I LOVE cream cheese icing, never ever out grew that to this day. I must say I sing to my bread, my soups and I 'put da love' in whatever I'm cooking and talk lovingly to it like it's my very best beloved friend. So when I'm done, you know what it's like, it's like you've just spent all this time being joyful and talking away, having fun. Then you never feel alone. Right! So I was so grateful that your video was long because I loved your company. Your cake looks super luscious and good plus love the card which made for an adorable topper. I really like your talk on the 60's clothes, loved those clothes, and wore lots of pretty slips, and coat dresses I made and bell bottoms and yes Bobby Brooks brand. No dress codes or uniforms back then but we always looked nice cause the clothes were so cool and fun! Ok well, Happy Birthday to your grand daughter and thanks for such a fun evening / afternoon. I don’t peel my sweet potatoes , I bake them and then scoop the meat out. I wonder if that might work for this recipe. Much easier than cutting and peeling. I have arthritic hands too

I bake my sweet potatoes then peel when they cool off..seems to be quicker and less mess.
