- In today's episode we are joined by Arlios who is still kind of learning the ropes. The only thing he really needs is experience. So I take him along to the Blue Flag server and have him handle the comms.

So my takeaway from that is that you didn't use the cover to do pop up attacks on SAM sites designed to shoot you down :p
For next time, stick low, find a hill you can continuously pop in and out of and stay out at the maximum engagement zone of your mavericks which is around 6-7nm.
You went pretty deep in there and damn high, I'm honestly surprised you survived all of that, so let's just chalk that up to missile defense training eh?

Incredible game and setup. If I had time and was 20 years younger I'd probably spend hours on this. But it seems like a lot of work.

Just some radio tips, at an uncontrolled airport (which is what all airports are in DCS) that doesn't designate a runway for takeoff/landings, there is no "active" runway.
How do you create a mark on that map and then share the spi and how the other person slews to that spi
Do you have any advice for a keyboard and mouse warrior that wants to fly the A-10C. What kind of setup do you use? I have a Saitek X52 and a 24 inch monitor which is a bit of a problem.
Saitek should pull you through for now. I would look into a track IR 5 though, makes life easier in the long run. Look for used ones if you must to get the cost down.

Why do you manually select profiles, why not use DMS or profile page in the DSMS to change profiles?
When I make custom profiles for GBU-12s i do that (for obvious reasons), otherwise i sometimes go through the weapon loadout screen and do it manually when I'm still trying to decide what to use on a target that I haven't pre-planned for.
How do I get to be trained in on the a10 with ralfi?

When you make a traffic call, you need to end with the airfield as well. So Sukhumi traffic *message* Sukhumi traffic.

edit: Unless you mean real life, in which case you might want a pilot's license before you go to fork and knife school. (Officer training) There is no step by step process with pictures, it's all experience is what I am saying. (Like anything else in life)

Do missions, challenge yourself, keep doing it and you will begin to understand your plane like the back of your hand. This means that you are no longer focused on thinking of flying the plane, it's just automatic. This leaves your brain power to process the situation your in instead. Like that.
lmfao I have defence exams to attend that's why i was asking. Do you really think that will help with the various spatial exams that they throw at me? I'd love to sim but got a shit computer :(

DCS is really heavy yea
For the first 20 minutes in a multiplayer server, I get a fat 1-2 frames a second with constant 30 seconds freezes. It's my VRAM apparently, oh how I love DCS

I'm very new to dcs but I'm a fan of the channel and you got me interested,I was wondering if using vr is a good idea?
Some people use it and they love it. Others hold off till we get more pixels per eye in the VR goggles. Being able to see things sharply will go a long way to spotting targets and saving your life. So it's up to you.
ralfidude thanks for the advice but I guess I will give it a try seeing as I am getting an occulus anyways. Thanks again and have many fun adventures!

I've tried it and I've found that it's one thing to have a pc which can run dcs on highest settings and have good fps and another thing to do the same in vr.
I found that in vr, my awareness of the attitude of the aircraft was a hell of a lot better than in trackir. (I did my first successful vertical take off in vr because it felt so natural) However, it is really hard to read things in the cockpit and my fps do tank a lot (down to 35-40 from about 140 (although that's me needing to optimise my settings))

There are plenty of squadrons out there that are accepting recruits and several places you can go to find people to fly with like hoggit.
Hmm. Can you help point me in the right direction? The DCS squadron forum page seems dead to the A-10C air-frame and all of the public multiplayer servers seemed dead (except for fighters).

There may very well be squadrons that use it though. Sometimes squadrons will have their own brevity on top of the standard one.
