    Great camera, great film, you did very well shooting with it as it is very slow for Street Photography. I live in a small town and you can not point a camera at another person in the street, I have to travel to much bigger towns and cities to do "Street".

    I'm surprised by the amount of grain in these FP4 shots. How did you process the film? Did you have to do much digital post processing to them?

    • @nickfanzo

      I push fp4 past 800 and the grain is minimal. It can be the scans or the developer used. Agitation should also be in super slow motion.
      I push it with hc110 and it controls the grain well, and keeps the blacks from dulling out. Hc110 1+31 at 24 minutes, 68degrees f.

      +EduardoPavezGoye I think I shall, Eduardo. No darkroom bag, processing tanks, spools or chemicals. But I intend to rectify that. To think I gave a whole darkroom of stuff away! I have never had a neg scanner - hope they are not too difficult to get?! Ordered some HP5 already...

    • @edpavez
      @edpavez  8 лет назад

      chirpybee if you are looking for a cheap and effective negative scanner for 35mm, I can recommend the Epson V600. that was my first scanner and I only sold it because I started using 120 film.

    • @chirpybee
      @chirpybee 8 лет назад

      +EduardoPavezGoye Might Iask: what are you using for 120, Eduardo? I have a selection of B/W 120 film from when I used a Yashicamat TLR. I am only after a "decent" output for web etc. If I want a large print I will use the "old fashioned" enlarger/chemicals method!

    • @edpavez
      @edpavez  8 лет назад

  • @markharris5771
    @markharris5771 7 лет назад

    I like FP4 but you need the right light for it, much prefer HP5 as I find it manages highlights better. But that is through getting film developed elsewhere, but now I've started developing my own I might find things different. I really liked the music in this video and it was a very pretty photo of Fran. I really like your take on street photography, the "please" and "thank you" with a bit of interaction makes all the difference, I won't do it because it looks weird on a mobility scooter but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the work of others.

      +ShootStreetTV I usually just come close and wait for the right time. I see how they react with other people and if they have no problem or are too distracted by them, I just go and take the picture. Other times I wait for them to turn around. It all depends on the situation. I don't have a blog. I used to. Maybe I should revive it. Thanks for watching!

      I do shoot street photography close to your style, but I still get the jitters and I want to get closer to my subject even more but I still get really nervous of a closer approach. I travel for work right now and only brought my Fuji X100T, but I can't wait to go home and learn more about my Rolleiflex and my Canonet QL17. Your videos also inspired me to shoot more film. • @Idkmaybe73
    @Idkmaybe73 8 лет назад

    Great video!!! I have a few questions lol 1) Is it better to over expose black and white film or under expose it (tri-x)? 2) If black and white film(tri-x) is off by about 1 stop will it be okay like color film? 3) do you focus a rangefinder with the numbers on the lens?

    • @edpavez
      @edpavez  8 лет назад

      hey man! these are my answers: 1) in film always expose for the shadows. you can recover the highlights. 2) black and white film can be off by more than one stop, it has more latitude than color film, so don't worry. it'll be fime. besides, tri-x has a CRAZY dinamic range. 3) no, I focus with the viewfinder. you can focus with the distances on the lens, and I've done it, but I don't like it. if I'm going to shoot like that, I rather use a Lomo, not a Leica.
      cheers!

      +sm ml la película es menos ruidosa, pero debido a la oscuridad y a que nunca disparo ISO 100 de noche, algunas quedaron sub o sobreexpuestas, así que debí compensar al momento de hacer el scan. La M3 tiene como máximo angular, las líneas de enfoque para 50mm, por eso si la usas con cualquier lente más amplio que 50mm, debes usar visor externo.

    I also want to be a street photographer, but it is really embarrassing when people found out that I was shooting them. How do you get over that guilt?

    I like the shots but something is not quite right with that fp4, dev method or a hazy lens or something a lot of grain and flare the 1/10th shots look a lot better.

    Do you get any light leaks shooting in bright daylight with your M3?

    • @edpavez
      @edpavez  8 лет назад

      +Darthpotato94 no. do you? if so, you should sent it for repair. :(

      +EduardoPavezGoye Backdoor light leaks I can bear with but light leaks from the front is a fucking mess.

    • @edpavez
      @edpavez  8 лет назад

      Darthpotato94 it's a classic Leica M3 issue: sometimes people use them and carry them around the street in a sunny day without the lens cap and with the lens wide open, so when the sun points at the camera, the lens itself behaves like a magnification glass, burning the cloth shutter. :(

    I really don't understand what the fuss about is with Leica, I was so close to buying an M3 until I watched some videos, the quality isn't really all what I thought it was :l However I did recently see an image taken with an M2 or M3 with a Jupiter and the quality looked stunning.. don't understand :(

    • @edpavez
      @edpavez  7 лет назад +1

      boski there's not much to understand: the quality of the pictures has nothing to do with the body and everything to do with the Lens. A picture taken with a "cheap" Leica lens will be worse than one taken with a premium Canon lens. A premium Leica lens, however, has little to no competitors (both in performance and how expensive they are).

      Oh I'm aware it's everything to do with the lens, but a lot of pictures I see from a Leica are often out of focus.. although mostly it is street photography which is understandable with a rangefinder I suppose :) Thanks for the reply Eduardo :) Love your stuff.
