Hi first time here. I loved your background video which I watched today and I loved the end results with the gold gilding wax on the butterflies. I loved all the colours you used for the background piece and adding the gold was fabulous. I hope whoever was the recipient of the card loves the card as much as I do 😊. 🇨🇦
Another beautiful card. When I use cling film on Brusho and similar backgrounds, I always dry them upside down with the cling film side down as they dry quicker.
I feel silly telling you something - I am just a rookie, but I have learned that if you remove the release paper from the back of foam tape, you can mold it around circles very easily.
I get in the most almighty sticky mess doing that and often end up with tucks and lumps in the tape. The best way for me to put DST around a circle is to snip it partway through and then just curve it round the arcs!
I was just going to ask about adding mica to brushos. I don't have pigment powders but have brushes and a bag of mica powder. I will give it a whirl. Thank you
As I sat with my morning coffee to watch your video I burst out laughing - because I pulled out my powders earlier this week. It wasn't as neat and tidy as your session - and I needed to use paper towel to mop up the excess. Then I decided to adhere the saturated towel to card stock - except I forgot that it was 2 ply paper ... So it separated. Anyway I'm off to grab some cling film. Lol I'd have to buy spray starch. I DO love your idea of an aperture card.
This is a great technique and I think I have some spray starch so will give this a try, and I love the white leafy aperture which shows it off beautifully. I hope you have not given up entirely on your blog as I see you haven't added anything since November, and I hate to think of another blog disappearing as you are such a clever and innovative lady and personally I don't look at Facebook or RUclips all the time so am inclined to miss the lovely things that you do, even if you only post on your blog occasionally it would be great! Thank you for showing us what you can do with this great technique. x
Thanks for the reminder about my blog! Time is off the essence. So many CAS challenges seem to have sadly closed. Facebook and RUclips seems to reach so many more people that it’s difficult to know what to do. Blogging was a huge part of my life, but I seem to be able to reach more people via social media
@@Chrissieannie Thank you for replying Chrissie, and I understand your viewpoint, but I just feel very sad that yet another great blog has disappeared. x
Thank you I appreciate your support, I may get back to blogging but it is quite time consuming so I'm sure you understand that something had too give. 🤔
I watched this months and months ago, but I am going to do the technique with friends on Tuesday so I wanted to watch it again. My question is why spray starch and not just water?
Spray starch??? Never used it and can't remember the last time I even ironed! But I do love Brushos and the cling wrap technique has always been fun with a variety of products! Good to be reminded of these older bottles of fun!
Wonder if the Luscious Powders produce the same result as the Pretty Gets Gritty ones? Couldn't see the shimmer in the not-quite dry background done with the Luscious Powders.
Blows my mind at what you can make with some household products and crafty products. It was fun seeing this technique done. It is quite simple too from the looks of it. I will have to get spray starch along with the shaving cream now. LOL Your card is beautiful Chrissie! Thanks for always teaching us new techniques. Hugs, Brenda
Another creative and innovative technique with a brilliant result. I shall add spray starch to my shopping list, along with shaving foam. I almost spat out my cuppa as you regaled us with the yarn of the Ambassador starched shorts!
Beautiful colours and effect. I thought I'd have a play with this technique myself but I'm having trouble finding spray starch. I've tried all the usual supermarkets, home bargains, pound land etc. Any ideas please Chris? I love it when you do a new technique (well new to me) I just want to rush into my craft room to play x
Your cards are consistently up-market and I love each one. The background here is so gorgeous and the process would make each one unique. I like that. Thank you Christine for another tutorial for producing beauty. 🥰🇨🇦❤️
No spray starch in this house. I do have some liquid starch from having a go at marbling paper. It's the only thing I've ever used it for. Love both these backgrounds. As always, looking forward to seeing the finished results.
More beautiful backgrounds. Love the card. Thanks for reminding us about cutting an aperture when trying to place those solid butterfly dies. Now I have to remember to order some shaving foam. Ooo so many things to try and so little time. 😂
Oh Christine another beautiful card - you are so talented! I love listening to your videos!! Please can you tell me where you got your circle die from and what it is called??
Quick question: how does the spray starch affect the results? I know you can use the cling film by itself. Also, I would LOVE to find those explosion powders, but I haven't managed it here in the USA ☹️. Oh well, I guess they are my own personal unicorn.
I think Lindy's Gang Magical powders may be very similar to the Explosions and Luscious powders. They're pigment powder with mica (most of them but they do have flats) and have many colors in most of them that aren't readily visible. I love them.
Hi. Thank you for sharing this amazing tutorial using another household item. A fabulous background to make a gorgeous card. Looks like I'll be adding some spray starch to my shopping list! Thanks again and have a fun weekend.😀
Stunning background, I have seen something similar but don't remember what was used instead of starch. Since I don't have any starch, I will do some experiments myself. Beautiful card and wonderful video, thank you! Have a great rest of your day.
I just so happen to have some starch on hand so I will give it a try. I have been playing with the shaving cream. Thanks for all your creative inspiration. Your card is beautiful ❤
Love this card Christine the colors are beautiful you are so talented.. I have been obsessed with my Gummapan dies I just adore them and they got me going again after hitting a dry spot..you are definitely my favorite to watch you always have wonderful ideas..God bless you and Happy Easter ❤
Lots of these powders are similar but have slightly different properties. It may depend on the effect that you are wanting to achieve or what specific colour you want.
I have done this technique with just Walter and watercolour paint with shimmer (Gansai Tambi), and it turned out quite beautiful. Must give it another go, and thank you very much for the reminder with your beautiful card. 👍🏻
As usual, a beautiful card, you never disappoint! Spray starch and pigment powders is one of my favorite techniques! Thanks for reminding me, I haven't done it in a while. And....over the years, I have never thrown away the cling wrap I use, I have it stuffed and all wrinkled up in an old, empty tissue box. I just keep reusing the pieces, it's kind of like not totally cleaning up your gel plate, you get some little surprises of left behind color from the last time you used it :) Have a great Easter weekend!
I enjoy your channel and the techniques you share with us all! Couple of questions: what are the companies names of your paper supplier, foam adhesives, and the nesting dies? I am in Canada and especially would like to try the linen card. Have a blessed Easter weekend with family and friends.
The paper is Silkweave linen from Syntego.co.uk they ship internationally and sell on Amazon.com. the foam tape is from Stix2 anything and the nesting dies are from Presscut
Hi Chris. I love this type of background. I've been looking for some reasonable priced foam tape. Is your Stix2 roll 10mm x 1mm x 50m? Also, I noticed that you didn't take the backing tape off some of the foam tape. Do you think that it's not essential to take it all off? Thank you (again) for your wonderful inspiration. x
Funny story! We (Americans and British) do speak two different versions of English don’t we? When I lived in Oxford, I told my British friends a story about a spider (tarantula) in my pants. I meant trousers but I learned that in British English, pants means undergarments. A bit embarrassing and funny! Beautiful card as usual!
Just wondering if the cardstock makes a difference? I tried your technique using the exact same spray starch (Dylon) on 120lb Accent card stock. It immediately soaked into the c/s and when I added the Nuvo Shimmer Powders, they just sat on the c/s. There was zero moisture from the spray to allow the powders to spread even once the cling wrap was applied. Should I be using a glossy c/s? Or a watercolour c/s? Thanks Christine.
I think it's a question of trial and error with whatever cardstock you have. If there's not enough liquid, the powders won't react I guess, I'm going to try a few more, I have some Nuvo Shimmer powders as well! I thought I'd try those!
@@Chrissieannie Thanks for your reply Christine. I have tried glossy cs and watercolour c/s and now I am wondering if it is something in the Nuvo powders. Anyway, I will keep experimenting.
