Finally, a test with these pro apps, not with games or Office, lol.....
Adobe apps often - yet - favor more single core highest clock possible - except things like a blur filter- , so, obviously there the whopping difference between 3ghz of the ryzen and 4.3 of 7700k comes to play. Probably more interesting to see it vs 1800x. Still, 1700 has a very nice price point now... nice to see it behaves so great with graphic content. Also, the ryzen test has been done with 16 gb less! Quite a machine. can't wait to grab the equivalent in the + iteration in April...
AMD aim mediocre customers. For example. apple will never use AMD processors. intel is better , and for Server/worstation u can stuck up 16 Xeon 36core CPU each one with 128Tera byte or ram or more lol
@@jesusisrussian7059 When it comes to 3d modeling, AMD is way better than intel, because of the core advantage, especially talking about price... For example a friend is looking for a beefy pc, not for games but for animation, so if she wants 3d, it will be way better on the AMD than on the intel.
I personally own an i5-4460.
you are totally right I noticed that even when the AMD is 16gb of ram lower ,still better than the intel one which is freaking awesome especially for those 3d modeling and animators personally after I saw this video I would go with AMD and I still would play games in it but I wish I can see a test the same as this between Rysen 7 2700x vs i9 9900k and i7 9700k that would be great and all I need to know how to upgrade my PC
So when properly utilized, ryzen beats it out in multi core. Devs need to jump on that
Yes, but not every task can be run in parallel on several cores at once. I hope Adobe will do something about it, as their multicore usage is really bad.
I love my ryzen system, its fast great and uses lower power than intel

Random YT Channel Let’s see your professional work...? Intel is only better for amateur gamers these days. 3D rendering/modeling AMD shits all over Intel. You would know that if you actually did any pro work and cared about productivity.
@@chamade166 eh... True that. People underestimate resources. 16 logical cores of 2700x puts it in the same rank as great Xeons when it comes to i/e V-ray rendering, and for the price difference you can afford some serious usage of rendering farms. ECC RAM does offer more stability, but unless you're doing some serious audio production, SRF (Solar Radiation Flip) with regular RAM will save you a bit of money. Even this is known to most 3D artists, most still somehow fail to utilize 256bit GPU bus properly (for RTR) and opt for 192bit or God forbid 128bit, as well as GPU memory bandwidth (multipliers, multipliers, multipliers, just get an RX580 or a Vega). This will save you a ton of money (considering the prices of Quadros). Pair this with ProRender (kh.. kh.. free.. kh..) and some fast DDR4 with Samsung b-die chips and you don't even need anything else (well, besides a good m.2 nvme PCIe SSD and a huge data storage drive). All this for 1/4 the price of a single top Quadro. Now you can think about how to spend saved $5000+ per machine.
3 rules of 3D: optimize, optimize, optimize.
A note: unless you are using Solid Works, which benefits a lot from a Quadro, but then, think: what's cheaper, to get a Quadro or opt for different software?
Very nice video, and I would not have anything to add. Perfect and straight to the point. Thanks for this!

@@sukhee5 I would like to buy a laptop for architectural 3d modelling/rendering purposes and use it for long term. Which processer and graphic card do you recommend ?
fantastic overview. I'm a 3DS Max, Mudbox and Unity user and I was thinking of getting a Ryzen laptop. I was worried that the Ryzen might have performance issues with the software, but this video clears a lot of my worries up. Its great to see comparisons on the software that 3D artists and game developers use.
I'd get a Ryzen laptop. My wife purchased i7-8th gen laptop and returned it several times for a new device because of the "coil whine". Google "coil whine i7". It is a high pitch sound and if you type in any laptop model and coil whine you will get a lot of results, so there is a high chance you will have it regardless of the manufacturer, and even if you don't, it may start after a few months. She kept the 4th one she replaced since all had it, and now she almost never use the laptop because of it. It is especially annoying in the evening when she tries to watch netflix on it with the constant eeeeeeeeeeekhkheeekheee. I was at Unity Developer event a few months ago and there was this presenter with a beast of a laptop that had 2x GTX1080. I was sitting 10 metres from him and the coil-whine was so incredibly loud that I thought the people in the last row also hear it.
Hi, since you had left this comment 3yrs ago I am assuming you must have used a Ryzen extensively by now. Can you give a review on how it works with softwares like 3DS Max and Vray?
@@nadeemrvk8345 Hi Nadeem rvk, Yep I bought a ryzen laptop and used it for a while. Unfortunately I was not over awed by the performance, I honestly think that 3DS Max and mudbox are designed for intel CPU's. I’d recommend an intel.
I’m the kind of user/developer who NEVER closes out his applications after finishing with them! I always keep all my apps opened which is why I want as many cores as I can get with as much RAM as I can get like 64Gb of RAM! I keep my pc running 24/7!
I do keep it running 24/7 but some programs lock some of the opened files so backup programs can't backup everything. But yes, as many cores and RAM as you can afford
Oh I finally found some pro adobe benchmarks. It's getting ridiculous how the internet is flooded with gaming videos. Please keep doing these benchmarks, I subscribed. I want to upgrade my system to an i9 9900k and an NVME, I am wondering how it performs in AE and Premiere. Thanks
Vray is beastly on the Ryzen and Threadrippers, photogrammetry too. We have a couple of threadrippers at work and the difference on it compared to the previous workstations is day and night
Theo Engelbrecht threadrippers are crap any i7 is btter than that on premiere pro, and as workstation machine my 144Core four Xeon Workstation works tens times better than a dual threadripper machine.
Ryzen kinda need a fresh os install, there are some people stating that they get error from cloning and slower speed
I wouldn't even keep my windows installation if I change something as critical as the motherboard or the cpu... Clean install are always better and works the best, performance wise.

Mate, the CUDA isn't being used because you are rendering some footage shot with a camera. Make some animation with some heavy Plug-Ins for After Effects like Element 3D, Trapcode Particular ... and then you will see that GPU is being used at 100%.
CUDA should be used for all those effects. Raytracing will use CUDA, but most people don're require any 3d effects in their video editing projects
With the old Quadro 600, I imagine there's a bottleneck in the bus speed or on-GPU memory speed
3ds max result is very interesting
thanks to you im keeping my intel CPU because it relays on clockspeed on number of corse!!!!! those people showing off theyr videos with "amd threadripper is all seasons processor" ughhhhh
When you are stabilizing your footage do you have your settings and ram setup in your preferences? I have found that adobe uses very little cpu and almsot all gpu. We render very fast stabilizations with 4k 360 footage with the 1080ti and the Quadro p5000.

Will this ryzen processor will have this speed ,also after a long period of use...Or is it have this speed only at the first time of use..?
I'm planning to buy a laptop for my 3D animation and VFX course. Can you plz suggest a brand which is good for my work ...and it should be for a long period...
Very good work
great compare straight to the topic
but there is something wrong about percentage calculate
27% like on sec 3:25 if we divide 47 over 64 the percentage is
even on sec 3:50 divide 51 over 72 the percentage is 30%
The formula is 63.7/47 = 1.35, so "35% longer". You can also calculate as 47/63.7=0.737 and then the wording would be that "ryzen needed 28% less time" or "ryzen needed 73% of the time the 7700K needed". I personally find that it is less confusing to know how much longer something took, but both cases the math is correct.

What graphics card would you recommend for fx simulations and rendering stuf for about a 1k$ budget (for CPU im thinking about a Ryzen Threadripper and im going to use it mostly for houdini,c4d and some after effects)
Thank you in advance! :D
Thx for the tips! I’m needing to build a computer for rendering 360 scenes in Daz Studios and compositing with some 360 4k videos. Do you have some tips on a relatively cost effective build, say around $1,000.?
For that and $1000, I would get the Ryzen 2700x (or 1800x, which is older and 5% slower), 16 GB of the cheapest RAM and cheapest motherboard. SSD is a must. Spend the rest on GPU
Ok will do thx!😊👍
Good video but too bad you do not use Houdini. I am starting to learn how to do SFX and have heard second hand that some operations and niche scenarios are optimised specifically for Intel chips and will running noticeably slower on a more powerful AMD processor with the same number of cores/threads. This will likely be fixed with a service pack but is something I still want to get some hard numbers on despite owning an Intel chip myself (5939K) as I intend to upgrade to Threadripper next year.
P.S. I still intend on keeping the 5930K system as a dedicated GPU rendering node.
Nice job ryzen! How about ryzen 7 1700 vs fx 8350?

Hi bro, I am thinking what to take:
Intel or Ryzen for Maya mainly (I do animation in Maya)
So can you tell Shall I prefer Intel or Ryzen if ryzen shall I go for Ryzen 7 or Ryzen 9?
I am waiting for your reply bro,
Thanks in advance.. :)
Hey Sunny. I'd go with Ryzen, just see what the Cinebench score is for each of the CPUs you are considering and how it relates to price. That is be best quick estimation of relative performance
I'm guessing most unbiased renderers benefit from number of cores, right? I use Arnold a lot so I guess I should go for Ryzen.
Yes. Especially if you want to work while rendering, so you have enough threads.
why does the ryzen system have only 16GB of system RAM, everyone knows that to do anykind of rendering or video editing you need 32GB min these days. a fair review would be to have same ram speed and amount at same speeds
Christ can this "review testing" be any more random?
Hey hope you can answer.
I AM building a pc but i still couldn't decide which one to choose. What do you think? Amd ryzen 2600x or Intel i5 9600k . I will be using after effects most of the time that's why I am not sure which one to choose because ae only uses single core. But I also want to learn other programs as well as with the ae like c4d Photoshop premiere etc. What would you suggest? Thanks sir.
I'm also will be using Nvdia 4gb graphic card for sure. Do amd utilize with nvdia graphic cards? There is something called cuda I don't quite know what it means so I heard it's something good tho.
Both have 6 cores, but 2600x has 12 virtual cores. AE may not benefit from that, but C4D and some other programs will, and because of that I'd get the AMD choosing between these two. The nvidia cards work on AMD system, as you can see in this video I am using it. CUDA parallel computing architecture. It will accelerate c4d simulations and video encoding (if you choose CUDA as encoding engine).
@@Tech-Guy Thanks for your quick answer.
There is one thing that I didn't mention is I still will be using After effects CS6 - CC 2018 most of the time. (Like %70 of the time)
I just checked this www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-i5-9600K-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-2600X/3337vs3235
I know AE uses a single core, why there is a vast difference between 2600x and 9600K when it comes to Single Thread Rating. They both have very similar clock speed (3,6-3,7). Does this mean Ae will run decidedly slower with 2600x than 9600k?
Now I'm thinking to pay more to get Intel i5-9600k but do you think this is a good choice, Because I heard that there will be new CPUs out soon by AMD in July.
I have to buy something within 2 weeks because my current system is long gone.
If I buy AMD right now, then use the system for few months and upgrade it to a new Ryzen Cpu (Like 3600x etc.) when it comes out. Do you think New Ryzen Cpu (Cheaper ones) will be more powerful than i5-9600k?
I can upgrade the system when I have more resources that's why I'm stucked because I don't know new AMD CPUs will be more powerful than i5-9600k when it comes to Single threading.
I know I Wrote this pretty complicated (Probably full of wrong and speculative info) Just want to know What would you do if you were me?
So i7 is better for gaming but not so good in rendering? About 60ps what should I need to buy to get 60ps?
Thanks man
For video render (adobe product) intel always win. But for 3D render, AMD more faster. Maybe Adobe not supported multi-core for rendering? because AMD cpu not work at 100%.
awesome video!!! What about the second generation of Ryzen 5 and 7 with an RX 580 8GB?
Thanks! We have moved to Threadrippers 2950x but we are staying with nvidia as all 3D software is CUDA only accelerated, so RX would not be of much use to us. Adobe software does not care much about the GPU anyway. I'll review that one when I have more time
Does a faster single core speed preview faster with multilayers in after effects? It does faster with a single effect, but how about multilayers performance?
Please make Davinci Resolve test with Ryzen..
Retest with ryzen 3700 plz & try lumion software also
What cases are you using?
I love cases without drive baskets.
Intel is in Corsair Carbide 400C and AMD in Fractal Design Define C. The 3.5" drive baskets are in the back
He set up Intel to be better by not having the same amount of memory and lower speeds and versions for the m.2 sdd for the Amd build
Why not same builds? RAM and GPU
If I work smooth and fast for After effects, Blender, Photoshop, Inventor and a few other video edition and Graphic programs; Is GPU necessary on the Intel Platform?
что выбрал?
what is best for animation?
For animating it does not make a difference; for rendering you want more cores, so get the most expensive Ryzen you can afford, but only if you do a lot of rendering and actually make money with it. Otherwise you won't notice any difference
My i5-4210u scored 59.10 sec in radial test. Damn, time to upgrade :/
Can you help me to configure my new PC for architecture modelling and rendering and other softwares also....
Do APP compilation times, do I do have a general idea. As a developer I'd need a powerful CPU, quickest storage, and ram, gpu won't matter.
Mantenn im using i7 7700 my friend bought this ryzen. I7 slightly more faster in c++ builder and unreal engine 4.
Дмитрий Зинин thank you man
That would be innacurate as unreal engine has better ryzen support than it does intel support. Of course I switched to unity when I began to learn the engine because it had some features I like more for the type of games I make.
That can beat my huanan dual E5 2680v2?

AMD CPU DID NOT support EA Sports well( before 2012). Only 20fps or less in FIFA 03 04 05 06 07 08 even FIFA 09 if u use (LIKE athlon xp ) AMD CPU (with any GPUS).
For graphic designing intel or amd??
After effects benchmarks aren't really representative of the performance of either CPUs in my opinion.
They are representative for After Effects use :)
Many effects are GPU accelerated while others are not. An average project is likely to use a mix of them. Moreover, it is likely that there will be 3d in the project, either in the after effects integrated engine or a plug-in such as Cineware or Element 3D. While it is reasonable not to expect benchmarks of external plug-ins, I strongly believe you can't just compare performance based solely on a project which uses only the warp stabilizer. I expect more complicated projects to have vastly different results, depending on a great many factors. This is why this test is not representative for After Effects.

See if you can find cinebench scores for both systems, once you have the exact cpu model number that you are considering. Since this is laptop CPU I'd probably go with Intel, but on desktop Ryzen has more cores per dollar, so in that case I'd go with Ryzen. If it is for laptop, make sure you search for laptop model + "coil whine". Almost all intel laptops 7th get and later I worked with had this.

As this video was made almost a year ago, which processor would you suggest for mental ray a year later. ???
I would get Ryzen 2700 or 2700X, but honestly in your case I would consider switching away from Mental Ray. 2 years ago industry had started to move away from it. Since last year none of the computers at work have MR anymore
You using Vray now?
For CPU rendering Vray and Arnold (slower than vray 3x according to people who use it) and Redshift for GPU rendering. I have kind of moved away from 3D and into software development, but I still use vray, and I still maintain labs at MFA program in school, and teachers try to teach what students will be able to get jobs with, what big studios are using, and there is a big shift toward Arnold, mostly because it is much easier to get decent results without much experimenting. And Redshift is amazing, so a frame in Mantra that would take 45 minutes to render took a 90 seconds in Redshift on dual GTX 1080 (the problem is people still crank up settings so it still takes 45 minutes, but the ones who know what they are doing have a massive time saving without compromising quality). If I return to 3D I will move to Redshift

but when i use After Effect CC 2018, try playback or rendering is very slow
no background app only AE, do you have solution?
It's the ram. You have to upgrade to at least 16gb of ram...maybe more. =(
uh, okay i'll save my money from now. Thanks :)
Ram and make sure you enable multicore processing.
interesting :)
Which is best for Lumion 8?
Have not heard of it until now, so I don't know, but thanks for revealing this to me. Looks pretty good and I might try it when I have more time
For 3d max, render vray. Which one is better? AMD ryzen 7-1700, or AMD ryzen7-1700X, or Corei7 8700k
Dude, this review is great and all, but you can't put head to head two different CPUs without setting all the other parameters as equal. You had different RAM values, when premiere is a ram hog, and i am sure you're not even on 3000mhz on them. You should've dropped the intel machine to 16 or upgrade the ryzen to 32 for a fair comparison. Also, when pulling footage from your storage, having a stupid fast NVMe SSD on intel and a SATA SSD on ryzen is just plain shit. Just change the CPU + mobo, and have all the other hardware the same. That is a fair comparison. What you did is biased and wrong.
It's what I had laying around so it was a quick video, one is machine at work, and the second my personal. But ryzen was better overall anyway even though it had half the RAM and had only SATA SSD.
3:30 is this the same when it comes to laptop CPU too? Is ryzen better than intel for 3ds max and vray?
Word up
Why more ram on Intel? Unfair
Yes, I built them before I though about making a review, and didn't have much time for it, but Ryzen still came out better anyway.
Not a fair comparison.
If i compare between 1700x and 8700k for 3d max and vray rendering , rhino , grasshopper plugin ,what should i do ?
Real question is does 8700K kill 1700 at Ae and Pr?
Then you would also have to compare it with better Ryzens than the 1700
8700k is much better than 1700. You need to comapre 8700k to 1700x and 1800x.
Lee Cason mosy reviewers showed that the 8700k beats the 1700x aswell and is very close to the 1800x
Tigerkitty true, but there is a p lace for more cores over higher clock, but for many reviewers they test gaming and video editing which is based on clock speed over core count.
Lee Cason yea but its also 90% of the people buying a ryzen or consumer grade intel
