  • C. difficile infection, or CDI for short, occurs when the Clostridioides difficile bacterium grows out of control in the gut. Each person’s journey has a different trajectory. From symptom onset to symptom resolution, it is often long, arduous, and filled with infection recurrences.

I was on IV vincomycin for a severe staph infection. Day 3 in the ICU i was woken by what can only be described as an eruption that flew out from under the sheet and splattering on the floor. I was covered from shoulders to knees in the stankiest doodoo i ever known to man. They had to dress in haz mat suits to walk me to the shower room wrapped in a sheet with a trail of poopy bare foot prints following my walk of shame with little spurts coming out of me in random bursts. The nurses were super cool and understanding. They cleaned me off and moved me to another room with a commode next to the bed and a pair of pull-ups just in case i had another accident. God bless Beaumont hospital

Oh my God, you poor thing. I can't even BEGIN to imagine the horror of experiencing something like that . . . I thought natural childbirth was a punishment, but that sounds like a walk in the park after listening to this. I sincerely hope you are all, completely better and back to living normally and comfortable.

@@LegalJargon6820 oh no, not compared to childbirth, women have us men beat on that in every way. Motherhood is a badge of honor up there with military service. I don't pretend to know and I don't wanna know. I'll take a week of c.diff over 8-20 hours of childbirth any day. Thank you very much for your contribution to the human race. There is no honor comparable to the ordeal of childbirth

Was diagnosed with it today. Fighting full week already, have no physical strength left. I don’t remember myself ever been sick so bad. It all started with Covid, that provoked tooth infection. Treated tooth with antibiotics, that killed all good bacteria in my gut and here we are. When C.diff popped in air (probably somewhere at work), it didn’t infected healthy people. But I’m a special case.

This is exactly what happened to me. I’ve had so many infections since I had COVID two years ago that this last round of antibiotics left me with CDIFF. 😩

Oh my gosh, you guys 😔 I'm so upset for everyone in this comment section. Life can be such bullshit sometimes. Covid devastated so much life and it's effects continue to wreak absolute havoc today. It's sad.

So c diff can go away for good or do you always walk around with it for it to pop up at any time. I just got diagnosed with it a week ago and everything i read about it sounds like once you have it you will always have to worry about it.

Just got out of the hospital with a c.diff infection, been home a week now and nothing has changed, still major watery poo, that hits about 10-20 times a day. It's kind of orangish/yellow color and has an odd smell. Doc said they have exhausted all antibiotics used to treat it, so I guess this means I'm going to be in hospital often or just die from it.

I’ve had it twice and every time I start to feel better it comes back. Going on three months now.
