Something to keep in mind is gold is a soft metal, so if you do have a pure 24 Carrot gold piece, the metal is not strong nor as durable against scratches, where a gold alloy of less than 24 Carrot, which is often mixed with nickel, which is a hard metal, adds strength to the piece.
Precisely, pure 24k gold does not hold its shape, so the next best compromise is 22kts which is still near purity but may be alloyed with silver and copper to give the jewelry piece its definite sturdy shape and wearability. It has all the glitter of a pure yellow gold besides! You will still pay the premium on 24kts per the global rate by gram of the day, but not necessarily get as much use out of it, fashion wise. It may be a better investment purpose, though.
I have several solid gold pieces but wear my gold vermeil more than anything else. You can’t tell the difference & it doesn’t tarnish with proper care. There’s 1 I’ve worn for 4 years now, day & night, still going strong. Great break down, Ty so much!!
You can put a colourless coating on your jewlery to protect it from tarnish... I always do that as soon as I buy the piece of jewlery... I like hiphop chains but they are cheap copper gold plated iced out with cheap diamonds... I use the invisible jewlery protector and it makes it shine more and protects reverting including the diamonds

I notice my neck has a black line and the chain is dark lol. When I got it was super glittery and beautiful. Trash can it goes. Will never wast money on plated nor filled gold. Absolutely! These are white metals and have more of that almost white colour to them. I would not compare them to the yellow gold tier system as they are higher quality and more expensive. From least to most expensive it goes white gold, palladium and then platinum (a top tier metal).
10k is garbage i had a 10k gold chain 20 grams and whatever other Metal it was mixed with showed threw so badly in time of everyday wear if you go for soild gold go 14k and up.

16” for the herringbone! It definitely depends on the brand. None of my Mejuri pieces have tarnished yet and I’ve had some for over 3 years. I’ve never tried any pieces from m jewelers but their pieces are soo nice! 🙂
My boyfriend bought me the herringbone necklace and the plating started coming off after a few wears. I didn't wanna tell him because its was so expensive.

Not true, not all gold plated jewlry is made of brass thats only the cheap chains you buy from etsy or china. Most companys in the USA use 925 silver or surgical steel for gold plated. It doesnt turn anything green because it has no nickle or copper. This girl doesent know what she talking about...
Not true at all, I have a lot of 925 silver, gold plated and/or gold vermeil jewlery and yes, it doesn't not turn your finger, neck, etc. green, but it does fade and the silver will start peering through if you wear it in water pretty quickly and/or if you wear it all, all the time. Gold-filled is the way to go, if you can afford it. I've never had that tarnish on me yet.
Does gold vermeil feel like plastic? I bought my first gold vermeil hoops on etsy and when I received them they felt like plastic. Really lightweight. The clasp is metal but the rest I'm not so sure.
Typically gold vermeil will feel a bit heavier. The fake gold hoops I’m wearing in this video are from H&M and feel light (exactly like plastic) so I know what you’re talking about!
It has a tendency to do so, but not always. It depends on the quality but you’re taking a gamble when choosing that material. Certain brands have better quality than others. I find Mejuri’s gold vermeil holds up well.

I'm a snob when it comes to gold..I will wear gold plated over silver if my mother buys it..but I won't buy it myself. I absolutely won't wear fake fake jewelry anymore. Gold over silver to me is not fake but I prefer either just gold or just silver. I definitely don't mind buying gold from Walmart if it's gold..so I'm not that bad. But it has to be either silver or gold for me to buy it.

Not true, not all gold plated jewlry is made of brass thats only the cheap chains you buy from etsy or china. Most companys in the USA use 925 silver or surgical steel for gold plated. It doesnt turn anything green because it has no nickle or copper. This girl doesent know what she talking about...

Not true at all, I have a lot of 925 silver, gold plated and/or gold vermeil jewlery and yes, it doesn't not turn your finger, neck, etc. green, but it does fade and the silver will start peering through if you wear it in water pretty quickly and/or if you wear it all, all the time. Gold-filled is the way to go, if you can afford it. I've never had that tarnish on me yet.

Does gold vermeil feel like plastic? I bought my first gold vermeil hoops on etsy and when I received them they felt like plastic. Really lightweight. The clasp is metal but the rest I'm not so sure.
Typically gold vermeil will feel a bit heavier. The fake gold hoops I’m wearing in this video are from H&M and feel light (exactly like plastic) so I know what you’re talking about!

It has a tendency to do so, but not always. It depends on the quality but you’re taking a gamble when choosing that material. Certain brands have better quality than others. I find Mejuri’s gold vermeil holds up well.
