Update: Hotfix 16 should fix the issue with Raphael showing up to this epilogue when he shold be dead like I had in this save. I missed a second or two in the beach scene from the beginning which showed a wide shot of Gale and Tav together since I wasn't expecting to get more scenes. I was resigned that he would do the same thing as Mystra did to him with "oh you weren't patient enough" which would have been kind of poetic. I find this really interesting epilogue even though I really much liked the forgiveness epilogue. Sorry Tara for agreeing to see Mrs Dekarios, I wasn't expecting that invite to heavens....
I found several things in my epilogue that did not match the choices I made, so it is probably just the coding them up; hellish fiends that die in the Hells die permanently, so this I think is only something that comes up if you signed a contract and did not kill him.
Wah, I am getting more and more tempted to try the God-Route in my Gale-Origin for science - but then I would betray Astarion's trust and they are so cute together in their "good" version. Pixelproblems.
The clone spell would explain away Raphael still being alive even if you kept his corpse as a trophy. Forgotten Realms in particular liked having villains use that spell to explain why they kept coming back like cockroaches.

Ralph's little ending epilogue here proves he's actually the true secret villain who would traditionally appear as the main antagonist in a sequel/Season 2. I hate his name because he reminds me of someone who shares the same name who is responsible for both creating and destroying the only female fighting game character I ever loved.
I know Gale ascending into Godhood is 'considered' his bad ending but I gotta admit the little hug and kiss and Gales 'tattoo' encircling them after is super ducking cute. 😅

Examining Gale in this epilogue apparently reveals that he has a spell that can 'reform a pet' in a divine image or something like that, which im assuming is meant for Tara.
Eh, take it with a grain of salt, Raphael is one of those characters (like Cazador) who talk big. Raphael basically went, "Yes, so, um, my plan failed, but... this was totally part of my _bigger plan_ which I totally am not making up on the spot here!"

Tara truly is the voice of reason and wisdom. She tells gale not to heed mystra if she will not treat him fairly, not to be blinded by the pursuit of power, and that despite what he thinks, gale is perfect just as he is.
His cat-mom is a little disappointed in him or you in every version, because he now spends less time with her and his mother. Though her outcry here and during one special origin-moment in Act2 is probably justified.
I don't recall actively encouraging gale to take the crown and he still took it in my playthrough. Tara said "you should have stopped him!". I tried to tell him not to do it. 😢
wow i always assumed origin god gale getting striked down by mystra was the only bit of god gale we'd ever see (since it shows the consequence of his hubris), but he's just an actual god here with raphael even implying that he could cause some chaos to the pantheon.

It's a lame af ending. Raphael is basically saying, 'yeah I let him go because he is soo cool his coolness will be the end of him'. Clearly one of the devs sees themselves as Gale

There might be a bit of a contradiction... Gale (if you romanced him) tells you that you'll become a god/goddess by his side, and you will decide your "sphere" in time. But Raphael says "Long after you're gone..." which implies that you [won't] be immortal? Since Gale will still be a god and you won't exist after enough time has passed? Of course maybe Raphael meant [gone] another way? I'm just left wondering which statements we should put more stock in, Gale's or Raphael's.

It's a fourth wall break, he knows who and what we are and is thanking us for our decisions. We're the ones who will be long gone one day. I guess he's always been talking to us. Obviously, they continue to do things within the lore even if we're not controlling them as evidenced by all the dialogue options of "what our character has been up to". And yes, I'm aware it's a fourth wall break, similar to the origin character introductions and a certain scene with Karlach. But even so, he still references yet-to-come lore events of which our character (should they yet live) will no doubt be present for. Besides, we're technically "long gone" once we finish the game since we can't "play more game" after we've done everything. And perhaps you're right, but unless we see a version of the epilogue where Raphael says the EXACT same thing despite the main character NOT romancing gale, then it would mean he was talking to our character through us, and that it was in fact, a contradiction.

Honestly a bit curious that he managed to stay a god in this ending...in the origin playthrough Mystra made herself quite clear he had to give up the power or face her wrath. You end up dying if you sq off
@@HaddaClu In his origin, Gale only dies if he specifically tries to usurp Mystra of her domain, directly challenging to take her place. But as a companion character, he only asks for his own domain of ‘Ambition’ and doesn’t impede on her’s, so she’s not threatened by him.

This is glorious for one reason (besides silver Gale)-the return of Raphael’s theme. Best music in the game hands-down and it’s in missable content. Holy hell people have been fast with posting the new endings!
Oh yes. I fooled around with this ending a bit because you can change your opinion on the matter at the last moment in his Origin. That letter and that the romance track was ended hit especially hard. I didn't even watch the end of the celebration because in his origin at least he seems to be more lonely than ever before.
@@user-mu8ok5xf8dAs a divine being. In his Origin you have lines to ask basically everyone to pray to you and about everyone declines. (Karlach considers it because of her engine-situation.) Overall it feels like him trying to reach out. One of his new special spells is also formsculpt tressym, which makes the target look like Tara - the real Tara doesn't want to have anything to do with him any longer.
Guy gets snapped away by gale and yet thinks he can take on Asmodius just cause he has the crown, hubris describes him much better than the Wizard of Water Deep
It's really surprising that your lover never abandons you, no matter how high they ascend. I would have thought godhood would make a romantic relationship seem insignificant, and you would be left behind. Same with Astarion's ascension, yet they always stay with you, or even offer you the same power when they don't need to. The corruption of power usually changes people in worse ways, and with this much power, I thought the process would happen much more quickly, but Gale really doesn't seem that bad. As before, his mistakes come from good intentions. He was my main on my first playthrough, so I could make sure he did the right thing. Weird Raphael still expected him to hand it over.
Idk with Astarion i feel like he becomes next Cazador and wont like sharing same level of power/ at least not for long as he has never been smartest cookie. Then again idk i havent finished his ending. And i imagine with Gale at worst case the lover would be in the way of ambition somehow, intentionally or not. But overall yes, its very sweet as open ended ending. 😊
@@LooneyClipse He does treat Tav better than Cazador's master did to Cazador. He killed Cazador's old friends(the ones he had when he was still alive) to torture him, and Cazador did the same. Astarion, meanwhile, simply laughs it up, like saying"Sigh, go waste time with your friends. Have fun". There is a disparity of power in the relationship, but so far nothing like Cazador's with his spawn.
@@LooneyClipseAstarion has no intention of sharing power equally. If you play as Durge he has the line “you will sit on my lap naked while I give orders to our nocturnal hoard.” He doesn’t see you as an equal more of an accessory. He does care but he does not see Durge as an equal.

I have never accepted a pact with Raphael because it is obvious that he is lying and wants more benefits from this pact than he promises, after all he is a devil so I don't trust him from the first time I met him, but I must admit that I really like him and I wanted to meet him in the game for interesting dialogues. He is a unique character and House of Hope confirms this. And music while fighting him, it's amazing. And these monologues at the end, every variant of them, I love that 😅 More, I like that you can join Gale in this ending, it's really satisfying and Gale look happy. I prefer the version where he becomes a teacher, but here he is literally a god so he is happy, he achieved what he wanted. I just wonder if Raphel is telling the truth and ambition will ruin Gale or is he just saying it because he is angry that he didn't get the crown and is dressing this anger in wise words about Tav and Gale's fall. Who would see through the devil there? Especially devil like Raphael who is... yes, unique. And I must say, his VA did a really good job! 😊
His arrogance is off the charts..I don't like it.. If you don't romance him, and do not do his personal quests, he tries to restore the Crown and dies in the process. In the epilogue you are greeted by his astral projection, that tells you of what happened, and then vanishes forever.
Okay, Great, Gale, you have the Crown of Karsus and ascended to godhood... now could you use the Crown to help Astarion? Replicate the enchantment that was on the tadpole? Or grant him a True Resurrection?
@@rabatacebulowa Karlach's engine is fixable with some expertise (it's just that the means to do so were part of the Baldur's Gate Upper City area thatis cut content. Or some quest to find her original heart, if that still exists, wrest it from Zariel and put it back using healing magic. Astarion's "condition" can only be significantly altered by god-magic, it seems (the Netherese magic on the tadpole came from the Crown), by the infernal Rite of Profane Ascension, or by a True Resurrection (and he's only like 7-8 years away from the 200 year death cut-off date for it to work).
I honestly call bullshit that Gale is bad for pursuing godhood. Literally so many of the gods in the Faerûnian pantheon were once mortal, including the current iteration of Mystra! Why do we not hear about their hubris? About their foolishness? This is just Mystran propaganda, honestly. She's mad AF she doesn't have the kind of power she once had over him. She's mad that an ex of hers is actual more equal now than ever.
FOR REAL, i hate the idea of making him suck up to his ex who also possibly groomed him. I hate the hard limits the gods impose on mortals and I'm honestly huge into Gale becoming a god. Yeah it makes tara upset and elminster sends a letter asking where the little boy he met went. But frankly I don't see it the same as say ascendant astarion who is clearly evil now. Gale god wants to be an inspiration to others to do the things they desire in life My only concern is how far his inspiration will go since, as the god of ambition, godhood likely isn't the limit
I think Larian knew this and that’s why they added that last scene from Raphael. He’s basically alluding to ascended Gale bringing about the destruction of the gods or something (getting big CR season 3 vibes😝) and causing chaos so crazy that even the demons kings are like DAAYYMM BOI! 😂
Not going to lie. I feel a tad mixed about gale surviving his confrontation with Mystra. great to see him back but it does muddy the message of his story a bit. I honestly liked that he failed and was presumably killed by his own hubris rather than being rewarded for it. it had an Icarus feel to his story of someone who flew a little too close to the sun and paid for it.
Mystra has died I think twice, too. If Gale had left any of his essence behind at any point, and had worshippers behind- he could survive. Lots of the gods have died and reformed many times. I think him saying that there are already shrines means that the survivors of baldurs gate must’ve seen him ascend and worshipped him before the memory of his godhood faded, letting him reform. At least I think that’s what d&d lore says happens but not 100%
So what I'm seeing is no downside to letting him get the crown and me becoming a goddess because I always kill Raph so he can't monologue at me to make me feel bad. Mystra I'm coming for you! Meet me in the asda car park

Gale says that in time you’ll find what drives your divinity, i’m just wondering what could they become the Goddess of? there are many spheres of divinity in the forgotten realms but many are occupied already. Technically if you play as Durge you’re connected to both Jergal (Withers Rebirthing you with a piece of his power now free of Bhaal) and Bhall himself (although twice Seperated) Not to mention if you become Friends with dame Alyin and free shadow heart from Shar you have connections to Sélune through her favour herself. Gale says that Ao doesn’t mind to much for Gales ascension so long as he doesn’t interfere in mortal affairs and let the cosmic dust settle for a long while. So there’s many Good/Neutral Gods that would most likely not mind or perhaps even take a small liking to them, if not Gale, than a good Durge or Tav; and both even have some negative dispositions towards deities, for Gale it’s Mystra herself and For a Durge its Bhall, wanting to show that she’s more of a god than her father ever was/will be, Bhall will be angered at his celestial child, being only a quasi-deity himself now. And/or for Tav/Durge, Shar may be displeased with her for taking shadowheart from her dark embrace and may carry a petty grudge against the fledgling Goddess.

So Shouldn’t a Durge/Tav get a chance at Conceptualizing a celestial in their realm together and then allowing them to live in the mortal realms with them guiding the way?
I saw a comment recently of TAV becoming the god of reason and I liked it very much, keeping ambition in check. Might not work for durge, but interesting nonetheless

@@lokiserpentem8534 I checked, he has 12 STR; 18 DEX, 19 CON, 27 INT, 14 WIS, 16 CHA and 298 HP. He gains +4 to all from his form, he gain also +1 from class to DEX and CON and +5 to INT. He also has an Aura of possibility, which gives +10 to all ability checks near him. Details still claim he's a human. He also has resistances to everything but that might be because I have warding bond on him. He doesn't take any damage at all when attacking.
So to get this ending you have to romance Gale, support him being a god, let him go find and fix the crown at the end? I haven’t gotten to the end so I might have some things mixed up so please forgive me.
Even if Gale could grant people their ambitions, he’s only allowed to do so much in the interplay of mortals, if he oversteps his bounds even as a god Lord Ao (Overgod of Dnd) would surely smite him, or remove his godhood entirely. so while it might seem dickish helping mortals help themselves is all he can really do; that’s mostly what other gods do for people so in Gale’s case he’s a better god in that Endeavour. Gale even says so himself that Lord Ao wishes for the cosmic dust to settle for a millennia before he can intervene on the level of older gods with greater seniority and even then most greater gods are limited in how they can interact with the material plane. Portfolios are also Key, while Gale is a god and powerful in his own right, his power comes from the concept of Ambition: The will to increase one’s power and/or further one’s goals. Again Gale even states that ambition doesn’t just stem from heights but the depths that proceeded them. By being Ambitious you’re actively drawing on Gale’s domain, you may pray to the god of ambition to reach the peak of a mountain, Gale Literally can’t and won’t transport you to the peak of that mountain because that isn’t ambition; to truly climb the mountain, follow your journey through hardships and time to reach the destination is to understand the true significance of being on the peak of the mountain. Ambition isn’t the destination itself but the long and arduous Journey towards that inevitable destination. If everyone prayed to the God Of ambition and gale fulfilled the wish of every worshippers ambition, he’d be gaining more followers sure but he’s taken the significance out of his Domain, if everyone can just wish for their greatest desires than there would be no Ambition as you could just pray to the God Of ambition for it. Despite being able to gain more followers and in effect more power by granting wishes, he’d be undermining his portfolio and it’s significance in the material plane; kind of Counterproductive if you ask me. If and Whenever Ao deems the cosmic dust settled on the matter of Gale’s ascension only then would he be permitted to extend greater blessings and powers on his followers; even if that time ever Comes Ambition is a unique portfolio and Gale would have to maintain a delicate balance of blessing his followers in fulfilling their Ambitions while keeping a neutral/inpartial role in allowing his followers to pursue their ambitions themselves. Go to far in the direction of granting mortals their ambitions and ambition ceases to matter, too far in the direction of letting mortals toil for their ambitions without anything in return and you have individuals who cease to worship Ambition and its Lord. It seems like Gale isn’t doing enough (Like most other Gods) but at this point he’s a divine Infant encouraged to not interfere even further by his God GrandFather Ao until he says otherwise. It Also makes Rapheal’s ending more interesting considering how complex and potentially egotistical the portfolio of Ambition is, Gale might be a new born God but with something as powerful and volatile as ambition, I could see how Gale could cause Celestia to Quake; only thing is he has to be careful or he might make Ao consider to write Gale’s Folly into the Epitaphs Of Fate.
On the off chance that you answer this, when you say you "broke" your contract, do you mean you got your actual contract from a room in the House of Hope, or you just ignored it and then had gale take the crown? (Also tysm for the video!! This is seriously one of the coolest endings i've seen from the epilogue and what convinced me to do a gale playthrough lol)
Yeah, we went to break the contract even though we had the Orphic hammer because we were being bit of completionists. Though this save is my first playthrough so I wouldn't put it past just being buggy.
I'm only going with the 'making Gale a God' path because my Tav hates what Mystra has done to Gale and would love nothing more than to see Gale not only ascend; but perhaps one day be a real challenge to Mystra. And if my Tav can be by his side when that day comes, all the better. XD Next playthrough, though - my Tav will talk him out of godhood and live a happy mortal life with her, Tara and his mother.

Meh Lathander did it first...then there was the sundering...the spellplague...pretty much something everytime a new dnd edition comes out and they advance the timeline a century or so. I wonder which ending for Gale will end up being canon. Probably not god Gale even if that would be more interesting, I'm sure WotC wants to keep the game's story as separate from official canon as possible.
Gale becoming a god is rather neutral, the bad end is where he challenges mystra and dies, Raphael is always plotting and scheming, hes just salty he could not get what he wants and besides why would our characters be "long gone" TAV has ascended with him so both gale and your character will be with each other eternally, Malfurion and tyrande comes to mind in this scenario.
You know, reading these comments is making me think that I'm actually just a chaotic neutral being or something. Because so many comments are like "Oh he's evil now!" or "This is so sad ;;" or reactions like that. Meanwhile I view him as absolutely chaotic neutral and I rather like this ending. He becomes a full on god with a domain and even offers you a seat with your own domain in the pantheon. I'd take this ending myself 100%. It's not like he's suddenly Shar or Lolth levels of evil. He has ambitions, reached them, and became a god. He isn't suddenly going to try to kill or usurp the other gods. And Raphael's little speech at the end just sounds like fear mongering lowkey. He's just salty about losing and wants you to feel like things went directly according to his plan. I highly doubt Gale is going to get far enough to actually overtake gods and those in Avernus. Mystra in particular is watching him closely. He's allowed to play with his ambitions all he wants, but the moment he steps out of line and onto mystra's path, she's ending him for sure.
Yeah, I do see this more neutral than evil. His character progression is quite tragic in this ending, but I wouldn't say it would be a bad ending for him. Of course we will have to see if we get any continuation to this ending, but I do like this ending as well as the others.
Not just you, I myself am confused that this is considered a “bad” ending for Gale, especially since as a good aligned wizard during my own play through I actually thought Gale was being incredibly reasonable and doing just about what every wizard wants, to become incredibly powerful. To be incredibly ambitious- which if you play a wizard even your own character will agree to him from a wizard class choice! I mean, isn’t that one of the main points of playing Dnd? Ambition? To have the ambition to level up? To defeat your enemies? To ascend- to become a hero, A legend? To reach your goals? To say Gale is bad for being a God of Ambition to me is crazy, especially when many stories of dnd have people from lore- even player characters, ascend into Godhood in the dnd world and be honored and found to be amazing. Ambition is only bad when the goal is bad, or the methods used with your ambition is bad. Also, not to mention Mystra is full of crap to put it nicely, her suicide Gale plan is not needed and works awfully, and I believe in her own lore she ascended from being a Mortal when the original God of magic died. Not to mention in lore she helps evil magic users as well as good ones. So Gale is justified in eventually believing her judgement to be crap.
Bane had the portfolio of ambition before he was reduced to a demi-god. And Lathander has the portfolio of self-perfection, which is pretty similar to ambition. Even though Lathander is a neutral good god, he is very narcissistic and tried to reshape Faerun's whole pantheon in an event called the Dawn Cataclysm that led to the deaths of several gods. I think Gale made some enemies far more powerful than Raphael.

Can you please explain a bit more on what are the choices you made? I supported him in the boat scene, ignored mystra and signed Raphel's contract, but Gale just wouldn't use the crown :-S I want him to have it so badly lol

So, how you made it that Raphael not killed him before becoming god like in other ending?

SO My game glitched and when i declined rhapaels request for the crown Gale later gave me a dialogue on how he was disappointed, later on, i KILLED Rhapael and yet when it came to the epilogue ending Gale is dead and my Tav mentioned how he heard from Rhapael.... WHEN HES DEAD?????

I don't know what the song is called but I think it's the song that plays during his romance scene in act 2 in the astral illusion. Also possibly in the Creche hatchery, you can find that music from youtube by searching "Baldur's Gate 3 Creche Hatchery Music". I'm genuinely so bad recognizing music so they might be only similar but not the same.

Raphael at the end epilogue essentially confirmed in the short term it's a happy ending but in the long term it'll turn Gale into a threat eventually. If what i am to understand of table top CRPG DND is true, a DM could very easily start a adventure with this plothook setting up Gale to be the final boss fight later. I find it truly fascinating how BG3 and the wider expanded DND experience is endless unique adventure.

Update: Hotfix 16 should fix the issue with Raphael showing up to this epilogue when he shold be dead like I had in this save.
I missed a second or two in the beach scene from the beginning which showed a wide shot of Gale and Tav together since I wasn't expecting to get more scenes. I was resigned that he would do the same thing as Mystra did to him with "oh you weren't patient enough" which would have been kind of poetic. I find this really interesting epilogue even though I really much liked the forgiveness epilogue. Sorry Tara for agreeing to see Mrs Dekarios, I wasn't expecting that invite to heavens....
I found several things in my epilogue that did not match the choices I made, so it is probably just the coding them up; hellish fiends that die in the Hells die permanently, so this I think is only something that comes up if you signed a contract and did not kill him.
Wah, I am getting more and more tempted to try the God-Route in my Gale-Origin for science - but then I would betray Astarion's trust and they are so cute together in their "good" version. Pixelproblems.
The clone spell would explain away Raphael still being alive even if you kept his corpse as a trophy. Forgotten Realms in particular liked having villains use that spell to explain why they kept coming back like cockroaches.

Ralph's little ending epilogue here proves he's actually the true secret villain who would traditionally appear as the main antagonist in a sequel/Season 2.
I hate his name because he reminds me of someone who shares the same name who is responsible for both creating and destroying the only female fighting game character I ever loved.

Examining Gale in this epilogue apparently reveals that he has a spell that can 'reform a pet' in a divine image or something like that, which im assuming is meant for Tara.

Tara truly is the voice of reason and wisdom. She tells gale not to heed mystra if she will not treat him fairly, not to be blinded by the pursuit of power, and that despite what he thinks, gale is perfect just as he is.
His cat-mom is a little disappointed in him or you in every version, because he now spends less time with her and his mother. Though her outcry here and during one special origin-moment in Act2 is probably justified.
I don't recall actively encouraging gale to take the crown and he still took it in my playthrough. Tara said "you should have stopped him!". I tried to tell him not to do it. 😢

There might be a bit of a contradiction... Gale (if you romanced him) tells you that you'll become a god/goddess by his side, and you will decide your "sphere" in time. But Raphael says "Long after you're gone..." which implies that you [won't] be immortal? Since Gale will still be a god and you won't exist after enough time has passed? Of course maybe Raphael meant [gone] another way? I'm just left wondering which statements we should put more stock in, Gale's or Raphael's.

It's a fourth wall break, he knows who and what we are and is thanking us for our decisions. We're the ones who will be long gone one day. I guess he's always been talking to us. Look at the way he stares directly at the screen.

Obviously, they continue to do things within the lore even if we're not controlling them as evidenced by all the dialogue options of "what our character has been up to". And yes, I'm aware it's a fourth wall break, similar to the origin character introductions and a certain scene with Karlach. But even so, he still references yet-to-come lore events of which our character (should they yet live) will no doubt be present for. Besides, we're technically "long gone" once we finish the game since we can't "play more game" after we've done everything. And perhaps you're right, but unless we see a version of the epilogue where Raphael says the EXACT same thing despite the main character NOT romancing gale, then it would mean he was talking to our character through us, and that it was in fact, a contradiction.

I love the idea of Gale becoming an evil god. It really showcases the darker side of his personality and the concept that power corrupts.
Would count him more under chaotic neutral. Ambition can be good and bad, but it will always bring change.
Honestly a bit curious that he managed to stay a god in this ending...in the origin playthrough Mystra made herself quite clear he had to give up the power or face her wrath. You end up dying if you sq off
@@HaddaClu In his origin, Gale only dies if he specifically tries to usurp Mystra of her domain, directly challenging to take her place. But as a companion character, he only asks for his own domain of ‘Ambition’ and doesn’t impede on her’s, so she’s not threatened by him.

Oh yes. I fooled around with this ending a bit because you can change your opinion on the matter at the last moment in his Origin. That letter and that the romance track was ended hit especially hard. I didn't even watch the end of the celebration because in his origin at least he seems to be more lonely than ever before.

Overall it feels like him trying to reach out. One of his new special spells is also formsculpt tressym, which makes the target look like Tara - the real Tara doesn't want to have anything to do with him any longer.

It's really surprising that your lover never abandons you, no matter how high they ascend. I would have thought godhood would make a romantic relationship seem insignificant, and you would be left behind. Same with Astarion's ascension, yet they always stay with you, or even offer you the same power when they don't need to. The corruption of power usually changes people in worse ways, and with this much power, I thought the process would happen much more quickly, but Gale really doesn't seem that bad. As before, his mistakes come from good intentions. He was my main on my first playthrough, so I could make sure he did the right thing. Weird Raphael still expected him to hand it over.
Gotta appreciate Larian for always trying their best to give players satisfying experiences.
Idk with Astarion i feel like he becomes next Cazador and wont like sharing same level of power/ at least not for long as he has never been smartest cookie. Then again idk i havent finished his ending.
And i imagine with Gale at worst case the lover would be in the way of ambition somehow, intentionally or not.

He does treat Tav better than Cazador's master did to Cazador. He killed Cazador's old friends(the ones he had when he was still alive) to torture him, and Cazador did the same. Astarion, meanwhile, simply laughs it up, like saying"Sigh, go waste time with your friends. Have fun".
There is a disparity of power in the relationship, but so far nothing like Cazador's with his spawn.

I have never accepted a pact with Raphael because it is obvious that he is lying and wants more benefits from this pact than he promises, after all he is a devil so I don't trust him from the first time I met him, but I must admit that I really like him and I wanted to meet him in the game for interesting dialogues. He is a unique character and House of Hope confirms this. And music while fighting him, it's amazing. And these monologues at the end, every variant of them, I love that 😅
More, I like that you can join Gale in this ending, it's really satisfying and Gale look happy. I prefer the version where he becomes a teacher, but here he is literally a god so he is happy, he achieved what he wanted. I just wonder if Raphel is telling the truth and ambition will ruin Gale or is he just saying it because he is angry that he didn't get the crown and is dressing this anger in wise words about Tav and Gale's fall. Who would see through the devil there? Especially devil like Raphael who is... yes, unique. And I must say, his VA did a really good job! 😊

If you don't romance him, and do not do his personal quests, he tries to restore the Crown and dies in the process. In the epilogue you are greeted by his astral projection, that tells you of what happened, and then vanishes forever.

@@rabatacebulowa Karlach's engine is fixable with some expertise (it's just that the means to do so were part of the Baldur's Gate Upper City area thatis cut content. Or some quest to find her original heart, if that still exists, wrest it from Zariel and put it back using healing magic.
Astarion's "condition" can only be significantly altered by god-magic, it seems (the Netherese magic on the tadpole came from the Crown), by the infernal Rite of Profane Ascension, or by a True Resurrection (and he's only like 7-8 years away from the 200 year death cut-off date for it to work).
Wait, does this mean that Durge can become a god like their father? Oh this is gonna be good.

Not going to lie. I feel a tad mixed about gale surviving his confrontation with Mystra. great to see him back but it does muddy the message of his story a bit. I honestly liked that he failed and was presumably killed by his own hubris rather than being rewarded for it. it had an Icarus feel to his story of someone who flew a little too close to the sun and paid for it.
in my game he did die and is just his magic manifestation

Mystra has died I think twice, too. If Gale had left any of his essence behind at any point, and had worshippers behind- he could survive. Lots of the gods have died and reformed many times. I think him saying that there are already shrines means that the survivors of baldurs gate must’ve seen him ascend and worshipped him before the memory of his godhood faded, letting him reform. At least I think that’s what d&d lore says happens but not 100%
I guess that's a way to see it if you don't see the big picture, even though the stupid devil laid it out plainly at the end.
He fails because he tries to replace Mystra. Here he doesn't. He gets his own domain, Ambition. He doesn't try to usurp her.

and Bhall himself (although twice Seperated) Not to mention if you become Friends with dame Alyin and free shadow heart from Shar you have connections to Sélune through her favour herself.
Gale says that Ao doesn’t mind to much for Gales ascension so long as he doesn’t interfere in mortal affairs and let the cosmic dust settle for a long while.
So there’s many Good/Neutral Gods that would most likely not mind or perhaps even take a small liking to them, if not Gale, than a good Durge or Tav; and both even have some negative dispositions towards deities, for Gale it’s Mystra herself and For a Durge its Bhall,
wanting to show that she’s more of a god than her father ever was/will be,
Bhall will be angered at his celestial child, being only a quasi-deity himself now.
And/or for Tav/Durge, Shar may be displeased with her for taking shadowheart from her dark embrace and may carry a petty grudge against the fledgling Goddess.

Additionally, would it be a possibility For Gale and the MC Divinely conceive a Demigod Child something similarly akin to an Assimar? This child Could inherit a burgeoning Wellspring of power and being a Mortal Chosen/Avatar could act on their parents behalf in the mortal realms, Ao would not need to intervene as many gods have mortal children now and in the past, Dame Alyin being one and the Dark urge as another; Bhall conceived them from a place beyond mortality at a time when he’s a quasi-deity, less powerful than he once was.
So Shouldn’t a Durge/Tav get a chance at Conceptualizing a celestial in their realm together and then allowing them to live in the mortal realms with them guiding the way?
I saw a comment recently of TAV becoming the god of reason and I liked it very much, keeping ambition in check. Might not work for durge, but interesting nonetheless

@@lokiserpentem8534 I checked, he has 12 STR; 18 DEX, 19 CON, 27 INT, 14 WIS, 16 CHA and 298 HP. He gains +4 to all from his form, he gain also +1 from class to DEX and CON and +5 to INT. He also has an Aura of possibility, which gives +10 to all ability checks near him. Details still claim he's a human. He also has resistances to everything but that might be because I have warding bond on him. He doesn't take any damage at all when attacking.

Even if Gale could grant people their ambitions, he’s only allowed to do so much in the interplay of mortals, if he oversteps his bounds even as a god Lord Ao (Overgod of Dnd) would surely smite him, or remove his godhood entirely.
so while it might seem dickish helping mortals help themselves is all he can really do; that’s mostly what other gods do for people so in Gale’s case he’s a better god in that Endeavour.
Gale even says so himself that Lord Ao wishes for the cosmic dust to settle for a millennia before he can intervene on the level of older gods with greater seniority and even then most greater gods are limited in how they can interact with the material plane.
Portfolios are also Key, while Gale is a god and powerful in his own right, his power comes from the concept of Ambition: The will to increase one’s power and/or further one’s goals.
Again Gale even states that ambition doesn’t just stem from heights but the depths that proceeded them.
By being Ambitious you’re actively drawing on Gale’s domain, you may pray to the god of ambition to reach the peak of a mountain, Gale Literally can’t and won’t transport you to the peak of that mountain because that isn’t ambition; to truly climb the mountain, follow your journey through hardships and time to reach the destination is to understand the true significance of being on the peak of the mountain.
Ambition isn’t the destination itself but the long and arduous Journey towards that inevitable destination.
If everyone prayed to the God Of ambition and gale fulfilled the wish of every worshippers ambition, he’d be gaining more followers sure but he’s taken the significance out of his Domain, if everyone can just wish for their greatest desires than there would be no Ambition as you could just pray to the God Of ambition for it.
Despite being able to gain more followers and in effect more power by granting wishes, he’d be undermining his portfolio and it’s significance in the material plane; kind of Counterproductive if you ask me.
If and Whenever Ao deems the cosmic dust settled on the matter of Gale’s ascension only then would he be permitted to extend greater blessings and powers on his followers; even if that time ever Comes Ambition is a unique portfolio and Gale would have to maintain a delicate balance of blessing his followers in fulfilling their Ambitions while keeping a neutral/inpartial role in allowing his followers to pursue their ambitions themselves.
Go to far in the direction of granting mortals their ambitions and ambition ceases to matter, too far in the direction of letting mortals toil for their ambitions without anything in return and you have individuals who cease to worship Ambition and its Lord.
It seems like Gale isn’t doing enough (Like most other Gods) but at this point he’s a divine Infant encouraged to not interfere even further by his God GrandFather Ao until he says otherwise.
It Also makes Rapheal’s ending more interesting considering how complex and potentially egotistical the portfolio of Ambition is, Gale might be a new born God but with something as powerful and volatile as ambition, I could see how Gale could cause Celestia to Quake; only thing is he has to be careful or he might make Ao consider to write Gale’s Folly into the Epitaphs Of Fate.
I never thought Gales God ending was bad until I started reading these comments with people actually explaining the lore a lot more 🗿
On the off chance that you answer this, when you say you "broke" your contract, do you mean you got your actual contract from a room in the House of Hope, or you just ignored it and then had gale take the crown?
(Also tysm for the video!! This is seriously one of the coolest endings i've seen from the epilogue and what convinced me to do a gale playthrough lol)
Yeah, we went to break the contract even though we had the Orphic hammer because we were being bit of completionists. Though this save is my first playthrough so I wouldn't put it past just being buggy.
I'm only going with the 'making Gale a God' path because my Tav hates what Mystra has done to Gale and would love nothing more than to see Gale not only ascend; but perhaps one day be a real challenge to Mystra. And if my Tav can be by his side when that day comes, all the better. XD
Next playthrough, though - my Tav will talk him out of godhood and live a happy mortal life with her, Tara and his mother.

Meh Lathander did it first...then there was the sundering...the spellplague...pretty much something everytime a new dnd edition comes out and they advance the timeline a century or so.
I wonder which ending for Gale will end up being canon. Probably not god Gale even if that would be more interesting, I'm sure WotC wants to keep the game's story as separate from official canon as possible.
Gale becoming a god is rather neutral, the bad end is where he challenges mystra and dies, Raphael is always plotting and scheming, hes just salty he could not get what he wants and besides why would our characters be "long gone" TAV has ascended with him so both gale and your character will be with each other eternally, Malfurion and tyrande comes to mind in this scenario.
Seems the Dark Urge had the right instincts about Gale
You know, reading these comments is making me think that I'm actually just a chaotic neutral being or something. Because so many comments are like "Oh he's evil now!" or "This is so sad ;;" or reactions like that. Meanwhile I view him as absolutely chaotic neutral and I rather like this ending. He becomes a full on god with a domain and even offers you a seat with your own domain in the pantheon. I'd take this ending myself 100%. It's not like he's suddenly Shar or Lolth levels of evil. He has ambitions, reached them, and became a god. He isn't suddenly going to try to kill or usurp the other gods. And Raphael's little speech at the end just sounds like fear mongering lowkey. He's just salty about losing and wants you to feel like things went directly according to his plan. I highly doubt Gale is going to get far enough to actually overtake gods and those in Avernus. Mystra in particular is watching him closely. He's allowed to play with his ambitions all he wants, but the moment he steps out of line and onto mystra's path, she's ending him for sure.
Yeah, I do see this more neutral than evil. His character progression is quite tragic in this ending, but I wouldn't say it would be a bad ending for him. Of course we will have to see if we get any continuation to this ending, but I do like this ending as well as the others.
Not just you, I myself am confused that this is considered a “bad” ending for Gale, especially since as a good aligned wizard during my own play through I actually thought Gale was being incredibly reasonable and doing just about what every wizard wants, to become incredibly powerful. To be incredibly ambitious- which if you play a wizard even your own character will agree to him from a wizard class choice!
I mean, isn’t that one of the main points of playing Dnd? Ambition? To have the ambition to level up? To defeat your enemies? To ascend- to become a hero, A legend? To reach your goals? To say Gale is bad for being a God of Ambition to me is crazy, especially when many stories of dnd have people from lore- even player characters, ascend into Godhood in the dnd world and be honored and found to be amazing. Ambition is only bad when the goal is bad, or the methods used with your ambition is bad.
Also, not to mention Mystra is full of crap to put it nicely, her suicide Gale plan is not needed and works awfully, and I believe in her own lore she ascended from being a Mortal when the original God of magic died. Not to mention in lore she helps evil magic users as well as good ones. So Gale is justified in eventually believing her judgement to be crap.
Bane had the portfolio of ambition before he was reduced to a demi-god. And Lathander has the portfolio of self-perfection, which is pretty similar to ambition. Even though Lathander is a neutral good god, he is very narcissistic and tried to reshape Faerun's whole pantheon in an event called the Dawn Cataclysm that led to the deaths of several gods. I think Gale made some enemies far more powerful than Raphael.

Can you please explain a bit more on what are the choices you made? I supported him in the boat scene, ignored mystra and signed Raphel's contract, but Gale just wouldn't use the crown :-S I want him to have it so badly lol
I told Gale to tell "f off" to Mystra in her shrine, otherwise the same options. I think Raphael's contraact is a bonus thing.
@@MUNMOMUUBut i saw few peoples had ending like - there was Gale illusion and on ending raphael is telling that he killed gale before he reached godhood, because we promised him crown and gale wanted to use it (or give Mystra, both triggering this ending). So, how you made it that Raphael not killed him before becoming god like in other ending?

I guess demons after death going back to hell (killing Mizora force her and Wyll to go to Aventus), so thats why he has demonic form, but... Why is he appearing? He died, you didn't had any deal with him, right? Or you told him that you will bring crown but anyway attacked House of Hope?

SO My game glitched and when i declined rhapaels request for the crown Gale later gave me a dialogue on how he was disappointed, later on, i KILLED Rhapael and yet when it came to the epilogue ending Gale is dead and my Tav mentioned how he heard from Rhapael.... WHEN HES DEAD?????

I don't know what the song is called but I think it's the song that plays during his romance scene in act 2 in the astral illusion. Also possibly in the Creche hatchery, you can find that music from youtube by searching "Baldur's Gate 3 Creche Hatchery Music". I'm genuinely so bad recognizing music so they might be only similar but not the same.

Raphael at the end epilogue essentially confirmed in the short term it's a happy ending but in the long term it'll turn Gale into a threat eventually.
If what i am to understand of table top CRPG DND is true, a DM could very easily start a adventure with this plothook setting up Gale to be the final boss fight later.
I find it truly fascinating how BG3 and the wider expanded DND experience is endless unique adventure.
