  • GREAT OPERA Houses in Europe & outside like the The Met in New York, Shanghai Opera House
Sydney is instantly recognized by the Opera House as an iconic sight
OPERAS & BALLETS have shaped the art & culture across the world
Ballets originating as performance dance during the Italian renaissance period and later developed into a concert dance
Most of the Operas & Ballets are so enthralling and exciting that even after 100+ years they are afresh, new, adored by audiences like me
In Ballets-the performers seem like dolls or machines-technical precision, fluidity and gracefulness that seems impossible to attain normally
Ballet dance stalwarts like Marius Petipa & Musical geniuses like Ludvig Minkus-It is irresistible and hard to miss a Petipa + Ludvig ultimate combination like Don Quixote or La Bayadere or Piotr Tchiakovskys Nutcracker or Swan Lake or the Sleeping Beauty
Similarly Operas like La Traviata, Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi or Handels Jephtha or Giacomo Puccinis Tosca, La Boheme or Madama Butterfly and many others that are widely famous/well received
Even after Centuries the same themes / Music / Dances captivate the mind and are staged widely across Europe and the world
A backstage tour of the Opera theatre reveals the extensive preparations that are behind staging the Opera or Ballet-preparations start 2 years before the actual premiere and with almost multiple / 7 design concepts settled to one
Opera / Ballet is an extremely specialized art form in which the Opera / Ballet Dance & Choreography, music, sets, themes, backgrounds, lighting & effects, costumes befitting each individual performer made to last for decades and revived as per new performer´s requirements, Shoes for Ballet Dancers made exactly for individual dancers, Logistics for sets that weigh in tonnes are all extremely well co-ordinated and demand extreme precision and hard work in a clockwork manner
When I was in school-We used to have Julius Caeser in 5 Acts by William Shakespeare and we staged it in school Plays and Shakespeare´s plays are are an addiction in their own way
Shakespeares renovated Globe Theatre in London-a simple theatre where shows can be watched under 10£
Similarly Operas & Ballets are addictive with everything being live and multiple elements working in tandem and exemplary geniuses specializing in Music, Dance, Singing, designs, sets, lighting all working in harmony & performing in tandem to deliver the ultimate viewing experience to the audience
Many of us watch movies/movie fans-movies scenes can can be reshot-
Operas & Ballets do not offer this chance-the Opera / Ballet performers have remarkable muscle memory & brain memory
A saying-if Ballet dancers do not practice for a day-their body can tell, if they do not practice for 2 days-their teacher can tell, if they do not practice for 3 days-the audience can tell. Such extreme passion, diligence & hardwork
