💕Yesterday, at the Tengkera Street Food Centre, the owner of one of the stalls introduced that there was a delicious satis in the centre, but it only opens on Saturdays and Sundays, so we came there today. Before eating, we went to the popular spring rolls shop not far away to have a taste.
We passed by the ‘Tai Chung’ popiah shop yesterday, but yesterday's target was to eat at 'Baba Charlie', so we didn't taste it. We deliberately come to it today. It can be ordered online or bought on the spot. When arrived, you can only see a long queue of people who walked in to buy , but the queue of people who buy online is not long, because online shopping customers can take their orders immediately when they arrived. It took us half an hour to buy it, but it was quite satisfying when we ate it. The skin of this popiah is thin and not worn. The fillings included sauce, lettuce, eggs, cooked sago, crushed peanuts, and grains of lard residue, which are quite delicious. In addition, the lard residue is even more delicious. It is crispy in the middle, and the fragrance of lard fills the mouth. It is absolutely the best choice to make in this way and eat it when freshly wrapped. 👍
Then back to the Tengkera Street Food Centre, there are not many stalls opened. Generally, many shoppers have gone home by one o'clock, and we mainly came to eat satay skewers. This stall, run by Malaysian Chinese, is only open on Saturdays and Sundays. The satay pork is cut thinly, and the gravy is not much, but because of the thinness, it has a crisp feeling and rich barbecue fragrance. The sauce is different from the general Malay satay sauce. It is a recipe of fresh pineapple sauce, which is sweet with a little peanut fragrance, which has a different flavor. 😋 Behind the food centre, we saw a pear tree with fruit, and the pear juice made is one of our favorites 😍
After eating, we returned to the 'Sanshuk Gong' souvenir shop on Chicken Farm Street, which was full of tourists, scrambled to choose the local products to take home. When we go to St. Paul's Church on the mountain behind the Red House, you can see the historical sites that remind you of the Portuguese, Dutch, British and Japenese who took turns to colonise Malacca. They have experienced several rounds of war and brought many European classical buildings to Malacca.
It was almost getting dark along the way. There were several Malay restaurants in the buildings next to the Malay night market. The taste of Malay food is not the same as Chinese and Western cuisine. It is closer to Indian cuisine, and it is more similar to Nyonya cuisine. The fish we ate had a very prominent sauce, and the meat of the fish was not dry. It was very appetizing and another satisfying day 🥰
