    Hey guys! So we were originally going to post another video today on how you can use the Straight Away training aid in the downswing BUT it looked like most of you all had enough of that lol so instead here's one of my downswing favorites as a substitute. Hope you enjoy :)

    If I may add a comment. First off, GREAT vid as are all of your posts. In this video you said "right hip forward" on the down swing. With my swing in the past, I was left hip forward on back swing, and then right hip forward on downswing. PERFECT recipe for my dreaded early extension. This is because now both hips were closer to the ball causing me to stand more upright at impact. I now think left hip back and DEEP so that both hips do not get closer to the ball causing the early extension.

    • @pfarrelli
      @pfarrelli Месяц назад +1

      Watching to the end of the vid I see you mention a caution against early extension at 6:50. DOH!! :-)

      I like it!! We are on the same page :)
      Right hip FORWARD......but not IN.
      How about forward (toward target).....and back (away from ball)....I like that!

    I like the thought of finishing in a balanced position with my trail shoulder pointing at my target. If I can accomplish that, then I definitely rotated through the shot.

    Great video Eric, as always, my question would be, by turning the hips in a better fashion as the video suggests, will this prevent my shots from going left? That has haunted me for seemingly a lifetime. Thanks . You rock Eric!

      Well.....if you are getting left misses from straight pulls then NO the hip rotation probably won't help that.
      IF you're getting your left misses from HOOKS then YES it can def help with that

  • @wormburner7237
    @wormburner7237 Месяц назад +1

    Thanks, same problem here. What about also keeping the trail wrist extended so you must rotate to hit the ball and keeping the arms from outracing the body?

    This is specific to what I have been looking to correct. Malaska brought me here. This drill corrects so many other issues along the way. One thing that is helpful is knowing that most of your weight (force) should be on your forward foot (Mike) coming into the downswing. I've always felt "too late" and never been comfortable through the shot. That's difficult to let go. Is there a drill for that? Thank you.

    Great drill, Eric, I suffer from early extension, I’m guessing I drive that trail hip forward. That last part about not letting your trail knee break the wall is huge. When I do feel like I’m turning well it’s when I feel like I’m pushing my lead cheek backwards and pulling the trail side thru.

    Excellent drill- When you finish you swing, your left big toe/ instep has come off he ground. The video that you show of Tiger, the left foot stays completely flat thru the entire swing. Any comment on that.

      Hey Richard! Nope---you'll see a lot of variations of this one tour. See Scott obviously as exaggerated :) Just helps complete the rotation when ankle rolled a bit

    This is really hard to do consistently. I look at my finish after each shot and only do it this way about 50% of the time. Just think if you could throw my body into a machine that forces this movement? Thanks much Eric!

    All you said about the hips, knee and toe is very correct but their must be something more to it then just turn your hips more. I personally hit the ball with my right foot on the ground and then finish with a little fake finish and a small chicken wing a little bigger then Lee Westwood which tells me I didn't really open my hips all the way. I play to a 3 handicap now and use to play to a +2 about 5 years ago before covid. Have never been able to get rid of the small chicken wing after impact which I hate, but its like ingrained in me. I have never been able to get my two arms straight 6 to 12 inches after impact like you see most good player do. So their is something missing in the formula. Thanks.

    Eric, I would like more videos on the StaightAway - all too easy to be negative about something, I do wonder how many doom sayers have actually bought the aid. The genius of this aid is in its simplicity and lack of complication - my swing lasts for about a few seconds, I do not have time for more than one thought . Simple visual references are easier to process. DL and yourself deserve to benifit from its promotion, there is no such thing as a "free lunch".

    What u put in is what u can take out .... lack of hip rotation in the back swing makes one needing to "push" his lips forward to make some kind of good impact = also a famous back stiffness injury developing!!!! The golf swing is a FLOWING "machine" ... so PLEASE PLEASE figure out how to add a little hip rotation in the back swing without raising the left foot (so one can learn to use the hip AND forward knee in the back swing) that's naturally gonna flow forward with ur front swing ... right hip goes perfectly forward if the weight in ur back turn is plenty ... club... arms... hip will just drop into the slot.... golf is a FLOW ;)

    If anyone has played for TEN YEARS and cannot open their hips, Golf was definitely not for them. Infact any sport that requires throwing or hitting with a bat or racket is definitely not for them ! It's the most natural movement when trying to generate speed , the only variable is how much someone can open them!
