Finally I found some honest opinions about the new album @Norbert Prast and @Murilo Acacio. As a long term Groundation fan, I have waited with sharing my feelings about new album for a loong time now, but that's it, I have to say it. Groundation has guided me through many years by showing me the spiritual way of life, their music is something more to me, like religion. Harrison on the vocal is so unique that when I found out about the new crew I was really impressed. It takes a lot of courage to make such a dramatic shift. I was full of hope, ready for the album recorded in a totally analog way by amazing producer, and you know what? When it comes to the sound on the album - it is a masterpiece. Unfortunately, I also feel like it was a classic overgrowth of the form over the content, or in another words - its not s Groundation like it used to be. New bass player sounds quantized, new keys sound is so far away from the original, Harrison sounds stressed.. Let's all hope this is just the first class in the school for "the next generation".. Anyone feels the same? Do you think they will get there again?
@@dylmars3440 I did some research, there is an interview with Harrison and he says that the other guys didn't want to tour anymore. So he had a simple choice to make, start a new band and forget about the songs he committed his life to or recruit new members and carry on the mesaage. Yes, I still think the musicians are not as good as previous ones, but half of them are Jamaican now which makes sense. The good thing is that in this form we have a chance to get another album sooner than later and it may be really good. Its been like this for me with Groundation since the very beginning. It always takes time to dig deeper and understand them fully. Finger crossed brothers and sisters!
@@rastafarejah In the website Reggae Ville you can read this: "We as Groundation were together for 17 years and we created our own sound, even if we changed some members through out the years Harrison, Ryan, and myself were always there at the core shaping the music... Harrison should be honest about the new music he is creating […]. In fact, this project should be called "Professor", just under his name, or a new name since it will be a new group. .. Hopefully Harrison realizes himself that it is not right to use our name with a new group of people. Many of us are still playing together and look forward to seeing you guys in one form or another.." Marcus Urani
so great band, like all the people seh, this dont transmit the same vibe that the old band, for all the fans, it is a sorrow cant feel the old groundation anymore, but this is so good music, only one trombonist was missing...
Horns need to study up on some reggae classics missing some tings but good luck in new band fans of the former band give the benefit of the doubt and with time will marinate with roots like OG Groundation
I respectfully disagree with what appears to be the majority opinion (?) here: Yes, the "old" band was fantastic, but I actually prefer the new outfit, first and foremost because of the two awesome harmony vocalists Brady Shammar and Alreca Smith.
Great music, great band..But a different feel.. i miss a lot that made me love the Groundation i know..for example the funky en muted way of playing the bass en the drumming.. It was out of this world for me..I would give this band a different name...Change the name...
I had to learn how to make a comment for the first time on RUclips to say: Brasil: You suck. You are not worthy of this music. How can you listen to this music and these words and stand still and watch? You seem to be listening and not hearing. You look like a crowd of zombies while this Beautiful and Amazing group of people spill their souls in front of you, and all you can do is stand tall and bob your head. Groundation: Come back to Hawai'i we're on your level. Aloha Ke Akua
