The injuries depicted on the Shroud of Turin were also used as patterns for the wounds depicted in the film. It was far more accurate than any other film about the subject.

Regarding the "Passion of the Christ." What is portrayed in the film is actually considered "easy treatment" by the Romans. Jesus' beating was far crueler and went on for a period of time longer than the film suggested. The crucifixion was somewhat accurate yet the pain involved was simply too staged.
Crucifixion in Roman times was actually the worst way considered to be executed. It was beyond torture. The Romans searched long and hard for people within their ranks who could be crueler than was depicted. This would have been considered by Roman standards, an "easy death."
I have researched these event for several papers I have written on the subject.
RUBBISH! someone who took that amount of punishment would have died from blood loss long before they went up on a cross. And you would have us believe that a person would be able to carry a wooden cross after such a trauma? not possible. ask any doctor
i have studied and researched roman history also. there are, of course, many accounts of crucifiction - especially after the servile rebellions (think spartacus) but no records of anyone receiving a scourging such as this and then carrying a cross for any amount of distance

Derek Scanlan The condemned never carried the full cross, “just” the cross beam. The uprights were, in fact, permanent structures. So it would have been feasible for a person to carry/drag a timber of the size needed to be the cross beam.

True story: I remember reading the Amityville Horror novel in my bed, when I was in high school, listening to Metallica's Kill em All album. Either Jump in the Fire, The Four Horseman, or Motorbreath was playing from the album. When I felt something about the size of pug, bounce once on my bed. I thought something fell of the shelf above me, and bounced onto the floor, but there was nothing missing from the shelf, nor on the floor. Nothing too spectacular, but definitely spooked me.

I'm kind of surprised that he didn't include "The Crow" (Brandon Lee's swan-song) and "The Exorcism of Emily Rose." I had a friend who had told me about one of her co-workers at a video-store, who had taken a copy of "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" home with her to watch it. Three hours after watching it, the DVD-player had suddenly turned on by itself and opened the drawer. The girl had brought the DVD back, the next day, and her face was a white as a sheet - I guess she had had some serious nightmares after that incident with the DVD-player.
It used to be hard for me to believe in these kinds of things but they’ve always fascinated me to read/hear about but I also had a strange occurrence happen to me in regards to The Exorcism of Emily Rose. I had a candle set on top of my tv that had a handmade rosary that was wrapped around the candle. Now, this candle with the rosary had been on top of my tv for several months. The one night I watched The Exorcism of Emily Rose, my rosary-wrapped candle just slid off the edge of my tv and shattered once it hit my tiled floor. It was way too creepy of a coincidence for me and I could never watch that movie again.
I watched the movie when I was twelve, and I woke up at 3:00 A.M. exactly-the time referenced in the film. I saw a dark figure (my bedroom doorway was directly across from the bathroom) in the bathroom doorway and hid under my covers, I couldn’t sleep until 4 am. I have never liked waking up at 3 am since.
Ellen Burstyn talked in an interview about the harness incident...she confirmed...the director told the stage hand to do it on purpose to get a real reaction out of her...

I bought an exorcist poster and fell extremely ill. I had terrible night terrors and they started feeling more and more real, so I decided I would give away the poster for free. As soon as I have it away, I instantly felt better and haven't been really sick ever since. I can no longer watch the movie, I feel a terrible sense of horror even hearing the name or looking at any pictures, then I would have a severe panic attack, and just feel like something's going to happen, like something's there. Also I would have severe migraines that would cause me to throw up when I had the poster, i ignored the migraines just because I have chronic migraines, but not as often as that. I don't usually throw up from migraines, it's only happened twice before of all the migraines I've had. Maybe the curse follows any merchandise, even as I type this people are yelling outside in my very quiet community, I never hear yelling except for sport events. Stay safe, I never recommend buying exorcist merchandise.

It's a travesty that The Omen wasn't on this list. The man who did the special effects, his girlfriend was decapitated during a car crash similar to the scene in the film. That ALONE is more than enough to put that film on this list.

I tried telling my friends in high school that Jim Caviezel really was injured on the set of The Passion of the Christ, but ... they didn't believe me. I guess they thought I didn't do my research on stuff like that.
i was at home alone with my little 2 year old brother, my mom had left to do some shopping, my little bro was playing in the living room and i was in my room which was really close to the living room. So i was playing videogames and everything was chill...until my brother walked into my room, his face pale, fear in his eyes, and he wouldnt stop looking at my moms room across from mine. I asked him whats wrong? No answer. I asked him again, whats wrong? Nothing. I shook him a little and asked him once more, Hey! Whats wrong! He then answered...Who's that little girl over there? I looked at where he was pointing at but didnt see anything. I quickly grabbed him and locked my door. Other strange things started happening like random knocks at my door at 3 am and toys turning on randomly in the night, thank god we moved out, now my family is safe...right?

Poltergeist should be at the top of this list. Heather O'Rourke died at age 12 of septic shock. Dominique Dunne, who played her older sister, died at age 22 after her boyfriend strangled her. Julian Beck (preacher in Poltergeist II) died at age 60, of stomach cancer. Will Sampson (Poltergeist II) died at age 56, after a heart-lung transplant. While the latter two can certainly be attributed to poor health, the first two should never have happened. There are also claims of multiple accidents on the set of both Poltergeist and Poltergeist II, but I have no verification of this. I'd also like to point out that Jim Caviezel, who played Christ in "The Passion of the Christ" was quoted as saying that he would never appear nude in a scene in any movie because it was his belief that only his wife should be able to see his entire body. I believe he also said he would not do any scenes requiring lovemaking in any form. That probably also had something to do with his lack of success. He certainly has fantastic acting ability and is definitely handsome enough to be a leading man.
I think the 2 girls were sacrifices. Look deeper into the O'Rourke story, it's disgusting.

Waking up at 3:15 am was subconcious. I do that all the time, when I set my alarm for 5am I always wake up at 4:59, and after I saw the Exorcism of Emily Rose where the meaning of 3 am is explained, I woke up at 3 am for some time every night and would get spooked. The brain can do funny things.
The Dybbuk box didn't just cause bad luck, it caused hair loss, nausea/vomiting, vertigo, headaches and other effects similar to radiation poisoning. The box was tested and never yielded signs of radioactivity.

My mother told me that when the Exorcist movie came out I was an infant. That movie scared her so much that when I would cry at might in my crib, she was terrified to even go in my room to get me. It scares me now as well.

I read the book “ the exorcist” in one night on my phone. Home alone with the lights off. Didn’t think that one through. Especially because the place was already haunted... not the best decision I ever made.
I watched the movie when it came out again in 2000 I believe that was the 1st time I ever saw it and it scared the crap outta me couldnt sleep without a Night light nor radio with timer on for 6 months

One more thing about The Exorcist, when the mother was pushed to the ground, her screams were 100% genuine screams of pain because she actually did hurt her back. She had back pain for the rest of filming and actually hurt her back permanently because of that scene.

Wow, I thought for sure number one would be “The Omen” and it’s not even on this list? The things that happened on the set of the Omen, days & weeks leading up to production and events that happened during production and even after the film was completed are absolutely harrowing & terrifying.

Gorrilajuice: Yeah, I cracked up at the girl's get well cards; "Hear You're Possessed By The Devil". LOL, brilliant stuff! The Exorcist, to me, is still to this day the best horror movie ever filmed and that a film over forty years old can still shock and scare to this day says a lot for it, but it's not for everybody. What shocks me though is the amount of people I encounter who boast at having seen it when they were six years old. Eh? wtf were their parents thinking showing a film like that to a kid of that age? It's adult-rated for a reason.

i want to share my paranormal experience. i was a long time ago in the late 90's i always loved horror as long as i can remember. and always keen to lookout for paranormal events but trust me movies and reality are totally different. while u enjoy watching scary movies but in reality it gives u shivers to yr very core. there was a praying room in my house where my mother used to pray a lot. it was on the first floor of the house and totally separated. that was the reason my mother chose this room because it was quiet and no body would disturb her. she always told me she experienced some presence there but i thought may its in her mind. then after many months of discussion i decided to do something. i had this old video camera. i set that up on a tripod and set everything for recording. now on another tripod i attached flash light. u wont believe me what happened next. moment i turned on the light it blew. i mean the bulb got fused. i thought it may be an coincidence. then i put another light on and moment i turned on right after 20 seconds it burned. like the first one. but the first one burned instantly but this one after some time. these both lights i used for photography and video at home hundreds of time and nothing ever happend and now they are both burnt with in seconds. now. i decided to put the camera on recording and leave the room for sometime until the tape is full. now u wont believe what happend the camera which i used on god knows how many tapes. i started the recording and with 10 seconds the camera stucked it self and never worked again. i never tried to record anything or photograph anything in that room again. God know this is true story and i dont know what happened that day. what do u think.
