I have never seen that hollowing technique you started at 4.35. Amazing!
Yes it is called upper cut your cutting whit the grain it gives you a nice finish . But there is limit in a small dia. You canot go very deep

No this birch was cut this winter, there is no cracks in either of the 2 lamps the other one is pine
@@tourneursurbois ok. We have mostly Live Oak and Red Oak here ... I think the Oak probably cracks more as it dries. Thanks!
@@MrTexasDan maybe you try with a small miniature . The important is that the thickness is equal all the way and maybe 1/4 to1/8 in. Thick
