Now about the annulment, ross wanted to take advantage of her trust and she was done with him, this was toxic ross at it's finest again, they were both intoxicated and decided to tie the knot, both extremely drunk and stupid and then had to get an annulment and he said he'll take care of it and Rachel trusted him
Now Ross who's fully SOBER realizes that being divorced three times is worse than the situation he’s in now. So, he tries to remain married to Rachel - without her knowledge - making a full sober psychotic selfish decision on his own which is just as bad as it sounds. Instead of owning up to his mistakes, Ross selfishly places his embarrassment and shame before the wants of Rachel, who absolutely did not want to stay married. Just like his divorce lawyer said, ross should seek a psychiatrist, Rachel was being petty but it was clear she lost her cool and didn't want to stay married to him, this was seriously one of the many worst things ross did that went too far, he mistreated all his girlfriends, cheated on Julie and Bonnie before Rachel, humiliated poor Emily, used Mona and tossed her aside and continued being a horrible bf/love interest to every woman he dated

What matters is that both Ross and Rachel messed up their relationship and they both acted immature about it, both don’t want to admit it and let it go, because Ross can’t can’t get over his first divorce and Rachel was being selfish and inconsiderate about his feelings.
