One of Nas' most relevant line in relation to Vlad's obsession with him is in the song Stay, where he says: "Some seek fame cos they need validation./ Some say hating is confused admiration!"
Not even surprised anymore. Nas is in my top five and I can admit that he has had some bad beats but damn! Vlad just can’t let this shit go. Like we get it.
when you criticize the beat, you end up with today's rap game; all sound, no substance. for some, anyway. Even if Nas was bad at picking beats (which I don't agree with), he always delivered with the lyricism. That's a win all damn day for me.
Lyricism isn't enough to make a great song. Believe it or not, the beat has always been the heart and soul of hip-hop and the vocals and the lyrics were there to compliment it and I personally think a lot of the hip-hop beats today in the mainstream are terrible, but that's for another discussion. I love Nas and I think this whole thing about him being bad at picking beats is BS because I like a lot of the beats he's used, but hip-hop is music, so the music has to sound good before anyone gives a fuck about what you have to offer lyrically.
@mistahmst i agree the beat plays a part but its not the most important part. sometimes i'd rather hear an instrumental because the beat is the best thing about the song. but the tracks with solid lyricism make the beat that much better. i think the beat is most important for club-type music. nobody's listening so much for lyrics in the club. they just let the sound take over.
I don't mind if the beat is simple as long as it sounds good and fits the lyrics and it moves me a certain way. The beat is definitely the most important part when it comes to catching my attention because if the beat doesn't sound good to me, I'm not gonna listen to it no matter how good the lyrics are because if production wasn't that important to me, I would just listen to spoken word. The beat is supposed to enhance whatever mood the rapper is conveying, so without it, the song is incomplete in my eyes. I'm not saying lyrics aren't important, I'm just saying I have no interest in listening to a song that's production doesn't match the lyrics because it doesn't pull any emotion out of me.
matubaM Lmao Nas is a legend, but very unlikely he drops a hot single in 2018, especially a hot solo single. He's way passed his prime and hasn't made much music. Plus you add in the current state of rap and who's hot right now, kids and younger adults wouldn't like Nas' lyricism and complexity.
Calvin G EXACTLY. I bet Vlad think it's wack tho. It's okay because this is the same clown that downgrades Black Thought. He really DON'T know shit about true Hip Hop music.
dn30001 Well if you look at it, Nas probably won’t get a Pete Rock, Premo, Q-Tip, L.E.S. and Large Professor to do another album with him because he’s probably looking at it from a marketing/promotion standpoint. Nas is at another level where he’s running a Fortune 500 company plus the audience today has a different ear for beats which is the younger crowd. I’m 31 so I would love to hear a Nas album where he keeps it balanced. Uptempo beats and boom bap beats on the same album. Not just boom bap beats. I can see him working with Premo and No I.D. again and work with a Metro Boomin or a Mill Will or Vinylz. I’m not sure if he’ll work with Pete Rock and Large Professor again because they’ll probably just throw any beat at him just to see him rhyme on it but you also got to look the concept and the sound on where he wants to go with.
Revolutionary warfare is a good example of nas knowing how to take a really good hip hop beat and just making a classic out of it. He has those types of songs on nearly album he makes.
Jadiey Clarke it was NEVER an issue. Vlad just pulled this out of his ass. People who say Nas is a bad beat picker just want to hear radio songs or club hits. Nas rhymes over classic hip hop music 98% of the time. Music you can sit down and listen to not just wild out on.
Israel Rosario Jr. I agree with you 100%... I'm just so tired of Vlad bringing this up with various people... TBH, I don't thing Vlad really believes that about Nas, it's just a way to bring attention to himself... Just like what he said about BlackThought... and once he did that amazing freestyle on Flex's show, Vlad actually thought he contributed some how... smh...
Ignat Intellect you obviously didnt overstand the quote. Masta Killa was saying how some only focus on the beat rather than the message. As I was putting forth so i didn't disrespect anything rather it went over your head and perhaps you aren't privy to classic lines nor the real meanings behind the jewels dropped. Peace
Most of them beats worked for the time period in which he released the music. Not every beat has the lasting power of a Ambitions as a Ridah for example
Problem with Vlad is that he looks at hiphop music from a groupie's perspective. Groupies want simplistic and catchy music. That has never been nas's lane. When he tries it, the music comes of corny. Classic nas is unconventional and unique. No cookie cutter shit.
Bruh everything on the song hip hop is dead is recycled from old Nas songs. It makes so much sense now. Like hip hop is dead so it doesn’t matter if I reuse my stuff they won’t notice anyway. Mind blown fr
Vlad's interviewing skills leave a lot to be desired: 1) When Vlad interviews it sounds more like a police interrogation than it does an interview. 2) Vlad's voice inflection, to me, is reminiscent of the kids in school who were never really down with the in-cliques. 3) He loves to interject his own experiences into the interview, ad nauseam. We KNOW Vlad you make smart investments and you were a DJ. Please don't tell us more about your Nike stock. 4) I feel Vlad comes across as disingenuous when he bigs up these mumble rappers in one breath and CONSTANTLY criticizes a genius like Nas. I truly believe Vlad doesn't like these mumble rappers but goes out of his way to find redeeming qualities in them in order to keep a revenue stream going.
Jason Martinez Its an interview. What are you gonna ask the artist about? His car? His girl? His shoes he was wearing in a video? The point is to find out things that we dont know instead of the same questions and answers from every other interview. People wanna believe what ever they want about someone and get offended when their artist is criticized for any reason because they are fans. Its a conversation and people have different views and opinions. People hate vlad but they keep watching every time.
Toure's explanation directly from Nas's own mouth as to why Nas doesn't pick the dopest beats to spit his rhymes over is darn near brilliant! That's why Nas is So Respected in the "Real" hip-hop community!
“Street Disciple is my second favorite Nas album, I think a lot of the music on there is fantastic”. The more I hear from Toure, the more I like him👍🏿👏🏿
Vlad we get it already bro, you interviewed Carmen (nas baby mom), & damn near all of nas foes . But yet you claim he’s the dopest rapper of all time. But every chance you get you’d always wanna bash him. 🤷🏽♂️ let it go bro. Next subject 🤦🏾♂️
Touré is a credible journalist so I can’t say he’s lying, but Nas has to be trolling, he’s the greatest lyricist of all time imo , I want his beats to match his lyrical skill, he should have Rick Ross executive produce an album
kenny lafortune yoooooooo!!!!! I was just thinking this same thing!!! The songs he has with Rozay are top tier nas for me... rozay has one of the best ears in music hands down
One of the reasons I love Nas is because he can take a wack beat and make it a dope song. He did have a few trash ass beats tho. He also didnt go as hard over some dope beats. Nas is a LYRICAL GOAT
For a person calling himself a "DJ" I would expect him to know the difference between a beat and a sample. "Thief's Theme" has the same sample as "Hip Hop Is Dead" but not the same beat. Furthermore, the songs differ in substance, tempo, and mood. This topic proves that the issue is more to do with how Vlad listens to music than it does with how Nas makes music or picks beats. The point of Nas using the same sample for "Thief's Theme" and "Hip Hop Is Dead" to purposefully expose how artists make the same music over and over again using the same sounds. He even says in "Hip Hop is Dead", "Everybody sounds the same/ commericialized the game". What does it matter what beat Nas chooses if you don't care enough to listen to the music anyway?
It Was Written and I Am are two of the best produced beat-wise albums Nas has in his catalogue after Illmatic. Nas has rhymed over incredible beats. Check Tory Lanez new joint with 50. People are still sampling Nas It Was Written album......
Nas - Simple Things "Never sold a record for the beat, it's my verses they purchase Without production, I'm worthless But I'm more than the surface Want me to sound like every song on the Top 40 I'm not for you, you not for me, you bore me I drop lines prestigious schools read to their students Look at my album plaques, somebody agrees with the music"
Nas os my fav rapper of all time....but if what Toure said is true....then Nas is selfish. The Nas fans want to hear Nas on some dope beats not some Gateway 98 made bullshit. U Gotta Love It is flawless btw imo
Sly Blu I think people don't understand or give nas credit for the type of emcee he is, nas uses his voice as an instrument on the beat, he really controls the tempo and feel of the song, people wouldn't know how simple or bland some of his beats are until they try writing to them themselves, I thought ether was the hottest beat on the planet until I tried to write to it myself along with other beats
Ray Taker i feel u but still man smh HIS FANS are chanting the same thing. I can see if jus the critics was saying it but it's his fans too. Then he complains bout his sales on Testify.
Wow I totally relate to Nas explanation to Toure,in my profession I get excited dealing with complex cases but bored with straight forward cases that everyone in the profession can handle
What happened Vlad? What Nas do to u lol illmatic it was written stillmatic God son are loaded with fire beats. Life is good and even I Am had some gems
djkoolrod Nas just didn’t pick good beats. He didn’t have to get the HOTTEST beat (Timbo, etc) but he could’ve got those Dame Grease like mid tier joints. And sadly this is why he’ll never be the GOAT. He’s in my top 5 though.
I think nas dosent go for the party beats, I think it got lost in context, look at some of Jay z old beats like h to the izzo, it was hot back in the day but listening now it seem so commercial and corny
VLAD, actually say what beat is bad. Say one. Name one. Name one song with a bad beat. Nas has crazy sick songs with crazy beats. You reaching Vlad and you are so wrong.
Vlad really needs to do that because he’s constantly making this argument but not being specific as to which beats bother him. He needs to sit his ass down and go through Nas’s entire discography and write down a full list of beats that he doesn’t like, starting from It Was Written(he loves Illmatic so much so he can skip that) and working his way up to Life Is Good.
I was thinking about this the other day though..Illmatic was so dope partly because of the number of great producers on there and it still sounded so cohesive like it was a single producer. I do wish that he had more collaborations with those original guys though or if he did an album now with all those guys, it would be dope. Also his collaborations with Alchemist were underrated as well. I wouldn't mind a full album of just alc and nas either.
Kendrick albums have their own personality and sounds from his voice to the beats. J Coles and Drakes latest albums are really similar and too a fault. I don't mind their sound but it gets redundant really quick and is not exciting anymore like it was before.
+J Crash You're trying too hard bro. These little "Lol's" are lame and childish. You're only looking like an idiot and you still haven't said shit. The topic was about Nas and Jay and now you're bringing up irrelevant shit, just to make yourself sound intelligent. "So no cigar". Stupid smh.
+J Crash Ok man...are you done? Can you go play with your action figures now? I really don't care about you telling me the history of Batman. Go play with your toys and bump the migos if you want lol. Just leave me alone.
I don't get how he has horrible beats. Thiefs Theme, Hate Me Now, Street Dreams, Sly Fox, Made You Look, One Mic, My Style, If I Ruled the World, One Love, NY State of Mind, Nasty... c'mon. Even Ether.
What Nas told Toure isn't shocking...Nas is fortunate enough that the great part of his body of work (Illmatic, IWW, Stillmatic, Lost Tapes, God's Son) is timeless & mostly sonically great...but the truth is not just Nastradamus, but also Streets Disciple (should have been 1 disc), HHID, Untitled all had some awful production to the point where it made the albums rather forgettable. To people that say the beat isn't important....you aren't artistically gifted! Think about painting & having to use a certain canvas...that's what production is to music! If you don't have the right canvas, it will ruin the painting!
Completely agree with the "more MCs should stick to one producer for an album" statement. Some of the best hip hop albums of all time only had one or a couple producers on them.
I agree that Eminem is the worst beat picker too. Nas is the GOAT to me, but dude has always been an awkward dude and I can definitely see him purposely picking lower tier beats. Doper beats would’ve only made Nas’ albums even greater and I wish he didn’t have that philosophy when it comes to choosing his beats b/c it’s only detrimental to the quality of some of his albums in my opinion.
Why do people sleep on 'It Was Written'? That's an incredible album.
it was written is the best
Word!
That album was a verbal movie.
IWW > Illmatic
Exactly. That album was SUBLIME.
Ok issue done. Let it go vlad
Etarn Tiron init 😁
He can't. This subject has carried on for 10 interviews
Etarn Tiron SERIOUSLY LIKE WTF 😂😂😂
10 years from now he'll ask people this shit again bet money on it
Exactly, dude brings Nas up in every interview lol
" y'all need beats to help, we help the beats " - jadakiss...
Jason Kamara Jada took em' to school.
Cassidy wrote for Jada. Look it up.
DXL
str8 up Lyricist dont need the beat to overshadow the message
+HAITIAN PRIEST 😂🤣😆
If you are a new producer, you have a chance with Nas.
Erect Pen yeah maybe 15 years ago.he had his chance an blew it✌
Calvin Abrams foh
No one gets whats your saying except me your ironically saying that these people suck so nas will pick them lol good one
Lol
Nasir Summers its called a running gag. Oh wait you probably think theres something gay about that too.
One of Nas' most relevant line in relation to Vlad's obsession with him is in the song Stay, where he says:
"Some seek fame cos they need validation./ Some say hating is confused admiration!"
Lol facts.
dope line!
Dope beat too...oh wait, you wouldn't know what that is Vlad.
Life Is Good is so slept on
matubaM that's vlad for ur ass
Vlad is obsessed with Nas
quincy D 80% of all his interviews he mentions Nas
It keeps Vladimir relavant. If Nas released a new album hip-hop would be reborn
quincy D a true Stan
Not even surprised anymore. Nas is in my top five and I can admit that he has had some bad beats but damn! Vlad just can’t let this shit go. Like we get it.
@@jaybee2714 I loved the beat for Ether!
Thank you Touré for explaining the difference between Off the Wall and Thriller!!!!! 👌🏿
Enough already! For a rapper how picks bad beats he's somehow found a way to last in the game for 20+ years. Let it go please.
when you criticize the beat, you end up with today's rap game; all sound, no substance. for some, anyway.

please
Thank you
He won’t. He will keep at it until Tupac’s resurrection.
Here we go again.
Tot Morgen What did nas do to this man?
Tot Morgen 😂😂😂😂 exactly
Tot Morgen bruh....if it's not Nas, it's ice cube
+Jermaine Young nicki?
No
The next dope single that Nas drops (with a dope beat) Vlad will take credit for that, on some "my criticism of Nas made him drop a dope single..."
lmao facts! He did that with black thought
Facts lol vlad would definitely say that
matubaM Lmao Nas is a legend, but very unlikely he drops a hot single in 2018, especially a hot solo single. He's way passed his prime and hasn't made much music. Plus you add in the current state of rap and who's hot right now, kids and younger adults wouldn't like Nas' lyricism and complexity.
Damn its like no one remembers about LES. He produced Life A Bitch.
Has vlad not heard Stillmatic? All the beats on that album are fucking crazy
Trash
Nas is one of those MC's that could release an acappella album and it'll be hot
That “I gave you power” beat is 🔥 tho
damn shame Nas will run the opposite direction of a Primo beat nowadays tho
Calvin G EXACTLY. I bet Vlad think it's wack tho. It's okay because this is the same clown that downgrades Black Thought. He really DON'T know shit about true Hip Hop music.
Wayne Mazique he actually came out and gave Thought his props tho...I'll give Vlad that..
affirmative action street dteams the message if i ruled the world and thats only i am

People act like Nas has albums full of bad beats when it's only a few average beats at best on his albums
Toure broke that shit down beautifully
One Mic/If I ruled the world/Hate me Now are all Classic beats
phone tap
Nas Is Like that beat is top 10 ever in hiphop probably. Beat is so hard.
It was written was amazing
Revolutionary warfare is a good example of nas knowing how to take a really good hip hop beat and just making a classic out of it. He has those types of songs on nearly album he makes.
Nas is a clever beat picker.
E-Live Da God nas really turns beats out with his flow , people don't understand, nas makes simple beats sound hot
You'll never hear somebody spit over a track like "rest of my life" that joint is way ahead of its time. Nas is a damn genius.
That's true. God's Son and Street's Disciple had a lot of gems that people overlooked. Book of Rhymes and Mastermind are a few of them.
His problem is he doesn’t have a good A&R. Nas sounds good over Jazzy Beats, Funk Breaks, Funk Samples. All his great records have that in common
Touré showing love to Street's Disciple! By far Nas' most underrated album.
Why is this still an issue... It's like beating a dead horse...
He's obsessed with Nas.

Got yourself a Gun beat is insane
The dumb are mostly intrigued by the drum. Wu Tang Forever. Triumph. Masta Killa. Salute to Nas
live from the 717 dope
Ignat Intellect you obviously didnt overstand the quote. Masta Killa was saying how some only focus on the beat rather than the message. As I was putting forth so i didn't disrespect anything rather it went over your head and perhaps you aren't privy to classic lines nor the real meanings behind the jewels dropped. Peace
Masta Killa summed it up. Thanks for bringing that line back to light.
Eminem is the worst beat picker and maker
Eminem Show is a classic he made pretty dope beats in the 2000s after Relapse his beats have been inconsistent.
Most of them beats worked for the time period in which he released the music. Not every beat has the lasting power of a Ambitions as a Ridah for example
Dre probably helped him a lot with the beats
No wonder Nas can’t stay in a relationship. His chicks can’t deal with his ultimate groupie Vlad.
Problem with Vlad is that he looks at hiphop music from a groupie's perspective. Groupies want simplistic and catchy music. That has never been nas's lane. When he tries it, the music comes of corny. Classic nas is unconventional and unique. No cookie cutter shit.
Eminem is also one of the worst beat pickers of all time Vlad
Slick Deville no
Jose Aguilar yes
Yup, he raps over mainly generic beats. Still a legend though.
he's also prob the most overrated rapper of all time
nmessai215 I second that
What's next Vlad? Are we gonna ask Slim Jesus what he think of Nas' beat picking?? GTFOH bruh
JE805ive 😂
Bruh everything on the song hip hop is dead is recycled from old Nas songs. It makes so much sense now. Like hip hop is dead so it doesn’t matter if I reuse my stuff they won’t notice anyway. Mind blown fr
Marcus J I didn't realize it till later but that's exactly what Nas was going for.
yup. it's thief's theme sped up
Jesus man. Nas must have taken a woman's Vlad was going to marry
Real talk. I never seen a positive Nas video from this dude ever and he seems to go out of his way to diss Nas or spin it negatively
😂😂😂😂
LMAO
Yeah man. This guy is an asshole
The beat on 'purple' go stoopid.
Vlad should name the beats he doesn’t like... I’m curious to know...
He hates them all equally.
What did Nas do to get Vlad tight for him too be mentioned 24/7 🤔
That's why Nipsey Hussle album is a classic..it's exactly what Touré said albums should be.. cohesive, sonically amazing
Vlad's interviewing skills leave a lot to be desired:
1) When Vlad interviews it sounds more like a police interrogation than it does an interview.
2) Vlad's voice inflection, to me, is reminiscent of the kids in school who were never really down with the in-cliques.

Zone18 Finest Cuz nas rivals help paint the narrative and he can’t get nas but the story still needs to be written
jay wenang 💯💯 homie
He hates Nas but he's obsessed with him at the same time.
shut up it nas were talking here if he said 1 million thing about migos yud but smiling
Music you might wanna download hook on phonics before you engage a debate via internet. Cause I don’t know what you’re trying to convey homie 😂😂😂😂
The songs he has with Rozay are top tier nas for me... rozay has one of the best ears in music hands down
That would be fire asf! Great choice and idea
That’s sounds like a great idea. Their chemistry on songs been a 1
kenny lafortune Whoa!! That’s good ass idea!!
Rick Ross does have a good ear for beats...Mozzy as well
For me being a Nas fan I don't give a shit about his beats it's his message he is delivering that I care about. Just my opinion
One of the reasons I love Nas is because he can take a wack beat and make it a dope song. He did have a few trash ass beats tho. He also didnt go as hard over some dope beats. Nas is a LYRICAL GOAT
Why is every Vlad video about Nas negative? And then Vlad finds ways to spin shits in a negative manor
Its more of a compliment to Nas because u might not like his beats but the lyrics he write over power the beats just my opinion tho.
4:00 Touré had the vision. He saw it. Shout out Nas + Hit-Boy.
I respect Nas for his perspective. That's dope!
I agree!
VLAD you need to bring Toure’ back on the show!!! Great interview!
There Vlad now shut up. Nas still one of the greatest.
You my man vlad but please stop talking bout nas beats please my guy please
devonte jenkins why???
I respect Nas for that

Lost tapes classic
The most recent album in terms of cohesive production was Jay Z 4:44 and Kendrick Lamar - TPAB
"I think Touré is a better rapper than Nas!"
- Vlad
Nas - Simple Things
"Never sold a record for the beat, it's my verses they purchase
Without production, I'm worthless
But I'm more than the surface
Want me to sound like every song on the Top 40
I'm not for you, you not for me, you bore me
I drop lines prestigious schools read to their students
Look at my album plaques, somebody agrees with the music"
Vladtv has a love, hate relationship with Nas.
"Shoot em up" & "oochie wally" are 2 of the dopest beats of the 00's..
Nas os my fav rapper of all time....but if what Toure said is true....then Nas is selfish. The Nas fans want to hear Nas on some dope beats not some Gateway 98 made bullshit. U Gotta Love It is flawless btw imo

Thank you!! All these damn producers on one album is ridiculous. Can't just let an album play anymore
Last track from Streets Disciple was You Know My Style prod. Salaam Remi. The beat wasn't that hard
AlJalandhari What? Lmao You Buggin'.....
Fabo Andolini god son had average beats tbh
I am had a few gems ? Lol I am was one of his dopest albums
Vlad...let it go man. Breathe!
That doesn’t make sense. Give us crap 💩 and know it Nas?
djkoolrod Nas just didn’t pick good beats. He didn’t have to get the HOTTEST beat (Timbo, etc) but he could’ve got those Dame Grease like mid tier joints. And sadly this is why he’ll never be the GOAT. He’s in my top 5 though.
r0mediddy I feel you (pause)
I think nas dosent go for the party beats, I think it got lost in context, look at some of Jay z old beats like h to the izzo, it was hot back in the day but listening now it seem so commercial and corny
Ray Taker Nah but some of Nas’ beats were corny even back then lol. Listen to the Nastradamus album. Most of those beats were trash.
r0mediddy Nastradamus wasn’t that bad
With all that said, there should be an album "Trillmatic the Remixes" BOOM!
Welp...he picked off the wall vs thriller vlad....debate that!
woodson vlad already did with lord jamar
SONICALLY OFF THE WALL WAS WAY DOPER THAN THRILLER,MORE SOULFUL
kenny lafortune I know. But toure has a really solid argument. Just wanna see where vlad hands at on that topic.
Off the wall is better then Thriller
Agree!
I honestly feel "it was written" is a dope ass album. another classic from nas imo.
VLAD, actually say what beat is bad. Say one. Name one. Name one song with a bad beat. Nas has crazy sick songs with crazy beats. You reaching Vlad and you are so wrong.
he keeps pointing to the thief theme
I wouldn't mind a full album of just alc and nas either.
that is why Kendrick keeps winning. it is sonicly crafted sound.
church! and I only like Damn(his most complete and replay value) gkmc is annoying at times, like his album compton :)
Nas > Kendrick and it’s not even close
Storm Trooper don't be a bum ass and take my thread off subject
I never said one was better than other.
i never said his albums where best. i said sonicly they are consistent. period. i don't care were you rank the albums. even tho I love Section 80
Kendrick albums have their own personality and sounds from his voice to the beats. J Coles and Drakes latest albums are really similar and too a fault. I don't mind their sound but it gets redundant really quick and is not exciting anymore like it was before.
Touré is dope. More interviews
Whatever Man!
Vlad has to interview nas and ask him this question. Keep the same energy vlad
Nas and Jay are complete opposites. Nas carries beats. Jay is carried by beats.
+J Cash I'm probably older than you. I was alive when Hop Hop started. You have no clue.
Please no more nas questions vlad.. Nas is good
Roc Marci is the New Nas.Just Heard his new album, his beats are🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
More like the new MF DOOM.
Roc can spit for real for real
Lets not forget Roc makes his own beats
Veer Pal He has that NYC 90s nostalgia.Who you think then?
Veer Pal True,i believe everyone should have their own lane. But ever since the second generation of hip hop the A&R's compared, and contrast artist.
Toure needs his own podcast!!!
His point is valid..I think a MC makes the beat the beat does not make the MC.. it's part of being a musician with a real skillset.
'New York State Of Mind' beat was 🔥🔥🔥...
That's the mark of a true artist. An artist in every sense of the word.
I don't get how he has horrible beats. Thiefs Theme, Hate Me Now, Street Dreams, Sly Fox, Made You Look, One Mic, My Style, If I Ruled the World, One Love, NY State of Mind, Nasty... c'mon. Even Ether.
Outkast are one of the few groups that did themes for every album..too bad we’ll never see another.
I Like how he described Michael Jackson's albums sounds...very well put
I've been a Nas fan since 95. Caught on a year later, I've never felt! He was a bad beat picker. I've always cared about his content
More.
Completely agree with the "more MCs should stick to one producer for an album" statement. Some of the best hip hop albums of all time only had one or a couple producers on them.
You know Vlad blushed like an anime character when Toure said he’s part of the culture 💀
The sample of "Thief's Theme" & "Hip Hop is Dead", which is "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida " is fuckin great song itself
What if Nas said...”Aight the next CD will be vocals only”...
pointless to argue over stuff that is ABSOLUTELY opinionated lol
A dope beat is always gon outshine lyrics bc u gon be so focused on the damn beat
That Vlad Guerrero comparison was so great amd right on point
I agree that Eminem is the worst beat picker too. Nas is the GOAT to me, but dude has always been an awkward dude and I can definitely see him purposely picking lower tier beats. Doper beats would’ve only made Nas’ albums even greater and I wish he didn’t have that philosophy when it comes to choosing his beats b/c it’s only detrimental to the quality of some of his albums in my opinion.
Street's Disciple beats are bonkers!
Every beat and rapper sounds the same today anyway, props to Nas for sticking to his guns..
The last producer from that starting 5 is L.E.S. come on Vlad, I thought u were a student of the arts.
I need Nas to make an easy mixtape then. I like nice beats. Nice beats + nice lyrics makes everything so much better
