How can I be so nostalgic over a song that I didn’t get to experience as a kid? I first got to play this game in the summer of 2010. We never had a 32X growing up, so as soon as I had a full time job I went on to eBay and bought myself a 32X and this game. It was so cool to finally play a game that I had only heard about back in the 90’s.
The 32X had a very unique sound and this is indeed a perfect example of beautiful composition and mixing. Base Genesis was good but this was something else and I wish there were more games like Chaotix :D
I think it is said in the instruction manual (at least in the 2011 port of sonic cd) that she can read the future with tarot cards and she came to little planet because of something the cards told her

The fact that chaotix has a piano reel deconstruction of it's ost built into it is so damn cool and ahead of its time
if i remember correctly, the Ninja Gaiden on the NES had a sound test menu with a graphic EQ of each music channel.
It's not even ahead of its time, it was never done again! It's such a unique feature that fits perfectly in a game with such a good OST

the 32x had extra channels to give it this great sound. it's too bad people forever associate the 32x with its version of Doom.

The PWM is used for the drums while the main melody uses PSG which speaks to how good the sound programmer for this game was.

I just bought a copy of this game and thought something was wrong with my console! Glad it's not just me that thinks that part sounds weird.
